Yesterday the lunch was ratatouille, Greek Salad, hot brie with baby tomatoes on baguette and a pasta salad with fruit and cream (weird) and then figs, grapes and melon for dessert. Healthy fod but I came home hungry and made pasta...otherwise might have not gained 4 pounds overnight? Anyway...back on track today and grocery shopping for food to make OP days easy peasy.
LYNN: How was the movie you saw?
CHERRY: Sounds like it will be interesting to celebrate the 130th anniversary of the church's founding. What events will they have?
BEVERLY: How nice to have the fried chicken dinner met with such praise AND to have sent all the leftovers home with someone else! I hope the new mattress will help your husband to sleep more easily.
PAM: How fun to have your nephew staying with you and that so many will be there for your niece's fiftieth birthday celebration! Take lots of photos and enjoy the time with family.

The movie was great. It was a Sundance winner...some of it in Chinese with English sub titles and the rest in English...very moving....It was a true story and I think the heroine in the movie is still alive. The premise of the movie is that a Chinese grandmother is dying in three months and they don't tell her, but they all go to China to see her by planning a spur of the moment wedding that she organizes.
I do have a meeting tonight and I will see if I feel like going. I am getting lazy about these things and I have to get myself in gear...but maybe not.
On Sunday, I am going to visit an old friend of mine I have not seen for a few years. It is a surprise for her that her daughter organized. After going to the play on Saturday night, I know I will be tired, but I will go. My DH has to prep for a trial so he can't make it. I'll leave before it gets dark as I don't want to travel around in a place I don't know that well at night.
Nothing else planned for today. I do have a load of laundry to do and on to fold...I will get on it.
Have a wonderful day, friends!

Morning girls,
Getting a bit of rain today, hopefully it will keep the temp down a bit.
Lynn, My DS#1 & DIL are in NYC for a few days. She is there on business & he tagged along. They went to see the Temptations last night & loved it. They were also in Times Square the night before when the gun scare happened. He is just exploring Manhattan during the day while she is working, then they are out at night. He said it rained all day yesterday, so that hampered his exploring. He wants to go to Ellis Island, his grandparents names are on the Wall of Honor there, but I don't know if he will have time, they come home tomorrow. Nothing like the city for excitement!
Cathy, so unfair that we can eat pasta one night & the scale go up!!! It's just not fair!! But then life's not fair. As we talked about here before, as we get older, and the longer we "diet", the less food that we can eat and get by with it. Sometimes, I just fell like giving up!!! It would be so easy to do, but we have to keep plugging along, or else we will be worse off.
Pam, your time with family always sounds so pleasant. You are so lucky to have family around you.
Cherry, 130 years for your church? Wow. That is really something to celebrate!! Can't wait to hear all the festivities. How big is your parish? How many members?
Great Thursday all!

I had a long post ready to send, then the internet went down, so I lost it. Short version:
I got a new mailbox to put up after the road construction crew (destruction crew) knocked down my mailbox. I took it to my neighbor so he could put it up, but I found that the road crew had hit the one they had replaced and bent it way out of shape. So I'm going to wait until they are done with that corner before I put up my new box and use one of the ones already there that isn't in use. There are several mailboxes there as my neighbor has a small trailer park. Then to top it all off, the destruction crew cut the telephone fiber line this morning which took out the internet. It is back up and working now again.
The church was established in 1889 when this part of the state was just being settled. The celebration will be an all day affair with coffee and muffins in the morning, morning and afternoon services with speakers, lunch, and hymn singing. It's a small Lutheran church. I'm not a member, but I do belong to their Ladies Aid, mostly to be part of the community service they do and to get together with my neighbors. My family were never members either, but I did go to Sunday school and Bible school there when I was young. I became a Catholic when I grew up and got married the first time. I go to Mass in town.
