I have been having gallbladder issues and on Tuesday saw a gastro dr. He is concerned that there is a blockage (common duct stone) and is sending me for an MRCP MRI to see if there is one tomorrow afternoon. Has anyone else had one of these? If there is a blockage I will have to have an ERCP which is a procedure to remove the blockage. After all of this then surgery will be scheduled.

mom2casey I have never had a blockage in my gallbladder but I did have gallstones and the surgeon did the surgery just in time before one went down in my bile duct.Back then it was the whole surgery not the laser surgery they do now. However I know you will still be rather sore afterwards for awhile. This must be why you were losing because you didn't feel well.Prayers and good wishes for a successful outcome.

I had mine out after my son was born, best thing I ever did.
Laparoscopic, 4 little holes, minimal pain after surgery.
My surgeon said it's nothing to fool with, can affect you liver, your pancreas and can become gangrene then its emergency surgery with the big cut.
Gallbladder attacks are miserable.
Best of luck.

Ugh, no fun. I hope you feel better soon!
I had my gallbladder removed laparoscopically after going through the ER at the end of June. I went in there experiencing pain that was on my right side, and I was worried about appendicitis after doing some googling. I had been having extreme nausea for a week that I thought was from a UTI/ the antibiotics.
They only did an ultrasound for stones. I wasn’t running a fever.
My surgeon said that an infected gallbladder can be just as dangerous as an infected appendix, even though the appendix gets all the attention.
I felt immediate relief right after surgery. One month later, and I’m all healed up and have no side effects from a missing gallbladder.

My mom finally had hers out when she was in her 60's after decades of pain and meds. She was sore for several days from the surgery but felt fantastic after she adjusted. mom2casey, I hope you feel better after *hug*

Wishing you a speedy recovery. I had my gallbladder out a few lifetimes ago and was hospitalized for 9 days. I'm cut across my belly. I was 19 when that happened and the tests they gave were upper GI series where you drank some chalk like poison...simply horrible! I had lots of stones in there and my gallbladder was resting on my liver. I do NOT miss that pain!

ann1953 I always heard that it was a miserable surgery with a huge insion and long recovery. Sorry you had to go through that. So so grateful they do it laparoscopically now.
