mom2casey, sending you positive vibes and hugs for positive news. Everyone I know who had their gall bladder removed is happy with the results. Wishing you the same good outcome.

Good luck with your surgery. I had mine removed at the end of March. Couple of things - even though your home in a few hours and it's only a few little incisions, it's still major surgery and you need to listen to your body and let yourself heal. I was amazed what it took out of me- besides the gallbladder and 4 large stones - the biggest being 1.5"
I will say I didn't realize how much better I'd feel. I don't get heartburn and that stuffed feeling. I think I was having more issues than I thought. I'm looking forward to seeing my liver enzyme results at my next physical.

I did not have a blockage, but I did have a suspected one (they now think that I actually passed a gallstone), so I had the ERCP. First I had an ultrasound to confirm the stones, then the ERCP to check for a blockage. The ERCP caused pancreatitis, which was very painful and kept me in the hospital for a few days before they took my gallbladder (laparoscopically), and after that, they kept me in another couple of days. I found that the surgery took a lot out of me and the anesthesia made me have trouble breathing for several days after the surgery. It was quite an ordeal. Now, without a gallbladder, if I eat too much fat, I pay for it and even just generally I have found that there have been lasting impacts on my digestive system. I ended up being the hospital for a week, which is not usual at all.
I hope that it all works out for you!

for those who have had the surgery.... did any of you experience nausea after the surgery- not right after but several days after? I had surgery last Tuesday and have felt sick since Friday. None of the meds for nausea that I have taken have really helped. No fever. Just feel sick- much like I did before surgery.

I remember feeling queasy for awhile after but I wasn't sure if it was from the anesthesia (dr said 2 weeks until out of my system) or something else. I also had random pains on my right side for a long time. Dr said, an organ was removed everything needs to settle in new positions and heal. Another reason for pain from what he told me is the way the ducts are rerouted, bile shoots right into the duct and can cause it to spasm. That can also cause diarrhea.
None of what I felt was bad, just more annoying, it all eventually resolved itself.

I had my gallbladder removal surgery on a Saturday, and felt much better afterwards, but the following FRIDAY morning I got really sick/ nauseated again, and it turned out my digestive system was adjusting to handling bile without the gallbladder. After that incident I have been fine.
