This thread is for anyone that has been away from healthy eating, had a gain and is recommitting. We accept all forms of healthy eating here, whatever that means to you. We touch base daily for accountability and to encourage one another. This is a judgment free zone.
We all struggle to get the weight off and keep it off. Sometimes this is a challenge, but we never give up and that is the key. Regardless of our situation or where we are in reaching our goal, we count on talking to each other every day and are blessed to have one another as friends.
Our motto is persistence, not perfection.

Good morning friends! Happy Friday!
I'm looking forward to the distractions of the day. We're seeing an early showing at the movies, and then stopping for a late lunch/early dinner meal. We're not sure where yet, but there are lots of delicious possibilities on the list.
I posted a picture of my Lily Rock on the FB page of my local Rock Painting group, and I got a private message from a local lady that has asked me to paint of rock for her dog who passed away last year. I was touched by her story so I gave out my long disclaimer of being new to this and not having any background at all in art or even crafty things, but told her I would try. She offered to buy all supplies and pay me to do the rock, but I told her that I started down this path to bring a smile or an uplift to unsuspecting strangers and as a sort of therapy for myself, so there was no way I could take her money. I'm waiting to hear back from her now, she's supposed to send me some pictures of her pup and any background color requests or special words, dates, etc. that she might want included on the rock.
Janet - I think I've tried to change my profile pick here using my phone in the past, and never could figure out how to do it - so I've always had to use the laptop to accomplish that task.
Okay, I have a few things I need to get accomplished this morning and then Mark and I are off for a day of distraction. I think he really wants to get out because this will be his first day at home without Lily where he's not locked up in the office and consumed with work. My adjustment has been a little more immersive, and I think actually progressing a little more smoothly than his. Anyway, I'll try to pop back in later.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Friday!

Good morning Lora and ATF -
Lora - I LOVE your Lily rock!!! It's such a sweet tribute.
susie I'm glad that DH is good to go - I definitely think it's better to be safe than sorry.
Today is the last day before RAs arrive and I blocked the whole day to not have any meetings going on. There are a few projects that HAVE to get finished. Wish me luck. There are two MAJOR things that really have to get done. I'm confident I can do more - particularly if people leave me alone.
After work I'm running errands. Tomorrow I have my niece for most of the day and overnight. Sunday I will drop her back home and then I have work stuff later in the day.

Hi Everyone, I am meeting my friend for brunch at Cracker Barrel. Not sure yet what I will go for whether breakfast or lunch. Then later will probably go to the pool and then to my sister's for dinner. I got the result back this morning for the A1c and it has gone down two points from where it had been previously so I am happy about that and glad that I called to do it despite my doctor not ordering it when she ordered the other lab work. I think knowing where it is and that it has gone down will motivate me to keep working on it as much as I can. (6.2 now) Lora, that is nice that you are making a rock for this lady's dog. I hope it turns out nice. I ordered a plaque when I had to let go of Jasmine. I had never ordered one for my other cats and not even sure if it was an option back then tho. They didnt have a seperate room but that room exited to outside and all the paperwork was done so that you didnt have to face the other patrons when you were grieving. Have a great day!

Amanda - You always have such a great time with your littles. I'm sure you nieces visit will be fun and full of laughs. Do you two have anything special planned?
Janet - Awesome job on your A1c! Every 1/10 of a point it goes down is real and significant progress. Keep up the good work! Enjoy Cracker Barrel, whether to go with the breakfast or lunch menu is always a dilemma for me too. Haha.

Good morning ROs. I'm so excited, just booked 3 nights at Kripalu (a yoga retreat place but really so much more) for Thanksgiving week. They have a special during November where if you book 2 nights mid-week you get the third free and this includes Thanksgiving as well. I was really stressing about what to do for the holiday this year, wasn't happy with any of my options, so this solves my problem and best of all, one of my BFFs is going to go with me! I've never looked forward to November before... No other news. I'm at work, slow day here so time for me to take care of personal business . Lora, what a lovely thing to do for that other woman. I was thinking as I was reading this that it could even be a business opportunity, although that is obviously not at all what you have in mind. I know you say you're new to this etc. but it's clear you have some amazing skill together with compassion that makes your art special. I think. Your plans for the day today sound so fun and I'm sure you'll end up at a good place to eat and take care of yourselves. Janet, congrats on the A1c! I haven't been to Cracker Barrel in years, always found it hard to get a healthy meal there but things have probably changed since those days. I'm sure you'll have fun. Amanda, hope you get your projects finished before the RAs arrive. Wow, hard to believe we're gearing up already for another academic year. Summer flew by, as always. Guess I better pretend to do some work today. Have a good one, all.

Good Morning All...I did better with eating last night AND I got to the gym this morning - yeah - a good start for the weekend. All in all, we had a very nice time last night...started off sketchy with trying to find handicapped parking and another little issue about seating at the restaurant, but the final analysis was it was a great evening with neighbors - the first activity planned by our "travel committee."
Lora - I love, love, love the rock - man, you are becoming an artist. Does the rock bump out a little where you painted her nose? It really looks more 3-dimensional than I would think. How awesome that people are reaching out to you to bring "smiles" to them!
Amanda - I sure hope people leave you alone so you can get everything accomplished (although I kind of smiled wondering if that will really happen). Maybe you should just not open your door or answer your phone....sending good vibes!
Janet - yippee for the A1C being down! I like Cracker Barrel - I usually opt for breakfast (even though I can't have those wonderful biscuits). Sometimes I get a salad or a veggie platter though.
Andi - I am excited for you... I have a friend who has gone on a couple of yoga retreats with her sister and really enjoyed them. I think you will love it, especially with your friend there too. Do you usually not get together with any family at Thanksgiving? I also like the fact that you can occasionally do something with DXH that you can enjoy...very good when people can still be friends even though they cannot be married.
Robinmd - sorry about losing the post...looks like you and Andi both did yesterday....gggrrrrr....hope things go well today.
OK.. I am going to make myself go back to the gym and just ride the bike and read while DH has his aqua session. Then I have nothing to do this evening except go to HH at the clubhouse - yeah!

Hi everybody, it has been so long since I have posted. I guess I get into a groove of things and forget to post here. I have missed you all and I hope that all is with you.
Lora, I'm so very sorry for the loss of your Lily, I know that is heat breaking. I love your painting, it is very good. I'm sure the lady that reached out to you will be very pleased with the painting that you will do.
Andi, how exciting about your yoga trip. We just booked a cruise yesterday for Dec. We haven't been on one in almost two years so we are super excited.
Amanda, I hope that you're able to get all of your work done today.
Janet, yay on your A1c, that is fantastic. I love Cracker Barrel, enjoy!
I'm still doing my fasting and still love it. I stopped losing weight a few months ago but it's so easy for me that it just didn't matter and I kept doing it. I finally started losing weight again I could not be happier. Our daughter is getting married next month and I would love to buy a dress that is a size 10, we will see. I'm 5'9 and a 10 is a good size for me. An 8 would be better but maybe by our cruise I will be an 8. I'm not in a hurry for the first time in my life because I know it will happen eventually.
My little granddaughter, Autumn starts kindergarten on the 20th, it breaks my heart that she is already that old. She will graduate in 2032, that sounds so far away. LOL Alex, our grandson is going into the 5th grade.
Our son and DIL had their baby 3 months ago, we get to see her about once a week. She is so sweet, her name is Caroline.
That's about all that is going on here, maybe that is why I don't post often anymore, I live a pretty boring simple life. I will try to get better at it because I sure miss you all!

Hi Gail...I do see a post once in awhile on FB - you are doing great. My middle GD is going into the 5th grade too and my grandson is starting kindergarten, so we have that in common. My OD has 3 girls and my DS has 1 boy and they both live within 5 minutes of me so I count myself blessed. My YDD is not married yet. My oldest GD will be in 7th and I still have one in preschool for another year, then they will ALL be in school...how time flies. Good to see you ...

I did have brunch with my friend. We havent seen each other since January 2018. We've texted and sometimes comment on facebook. I ordered the pancakes, eggs and it had 2 pieces of bacon. I didnt eat anything else this afternoon until I have dinner with my sister. So since I didnt eat anything since I consider that pretty good. When I got on the bus I took the first bus that I could take without really thinking of the one bus that I could have taken where I didnt have to wait for a connecting bus. Oh well! After waiting a few minutes I got off at the dollar store to get a few things and some cash for tommorow's trip. I got a text from our director about the schedule for aftercare. Ugh! Back to Reality on Monday!! Welcome back Gail! I didnt feel like going back out to go to the pool so finished reading the short book I got from the library. Its called Into the Dark Whiteness and about the polar explorers. My sister will be picking me up soon. Take care.

Ahhhhhh! HOME! The movie was terrific. Of course there's always at least on typical Quentin Tarantino obligatory unspeakably brutal scene, so you'd have to go into in knowing and expecting that, but the writing and acting were superb. After the movie we went to Connor's Steakhouse. I have a 10 oz. prime rib and a wedge salad, DH had a grilled Ahi Tuna, wedge salad and side of creamed spinach. After that we walked around the shopping area and popped into the MLB store and bought some fan gear for Huntsville's new minor league baseball team. Mark got a ball cap and I got a shirt. Then we met some Marks friends at a cute little new and trendy bar. Just water for me, but the guys all had a bourbon or two and everybody just sat and talked for a couple of hours. These are the same guys we went to the BBQ with a couple of weekends ago. Super nice guys, one of them we've been friends with since the early 80s. Thanks for everyone's kind words about my Lily rock. It felt nice to be able to make that remembrance for her.
Andi - the yoga retreat sounds lovely. I think that's a terrific way to spend T.giving!
Susie - the rock is flat. Lol. It's basically just paint color differences, subtle shading, etc. that gives it the look of dimension. That's actually something that I've been really working on - although mostly I'd been working on it regarding landscape work, so thanks for mentioning that! I guess maybe I have taught myself a little bit along the way. haha
Gail - so good to see you posting!
Okay, I don't think I'm going to be up much longer. I'm yawning and my eyes are getting heavy. I'll try to get fully caught up with everyone tomorrow!
Until tomorrow...
Susie -
