Although my new avatar looks like a rose bush, Kathy got it right. It is a cardinal perching on the cherry tomato plant in a pot. I took the picture through the back door glass.
Karen, I hope you got some more rest this morning. Did Arya let Dale feed her breakfast? Mazel tov on the new PC. I don’t envy you the setup but I am sure once it is done you will appreciate a functioning device. Love that picture of the hawk. She was ready for her close up. I am sure it was great to find out how to improve your performance on the Osteo machine, are you still using the vibrating machine in your home? How is the back doing? Nan has been mayor since 2013. She can hold her own. Yesterday was hot and humid but today the humidity is supposed to be less.
Becky, I think there TX would recede from the US if asked to give up their guns. Iggy has a couple but he really is not that interested in them. It is more something to do with his DB. I won’t go near them. I don’t see what the issue is with background checks and banning assault weapons, though. People submit voluntarily to a background check to go through airport security more quickly but when it comes to guns it seems to be a problem.
Kathy, score on the B&J Lite. The neighborhood stores don’t carry it here. That’s funny about the Amazon package. I had the same question as Karen. Was the recipient at least in the same neighborhood?
Linda, how are the 3 of you doing today? Did Micki sleep last night? Does he have to wear a cone? Good news on no extractions. Is it spoil the doggie day?
Iggy is off to Columbus today to set up a booth for a conference. He will be back tonight but will have to spend Sat, Sun and Mon night in Columbus. I am doing some laundry for him and I got his pills into the daily packs.

Karen, good luck with the new computer.
Micki sat there in the dark on a a comfy blanket for almost an hour. I finally turned his butt sideways to get him to lie down and he stayed and slept all night. Wish I had. In mommy mode I was up checking every hour. he is moving much better this morning and with a lot if coaxing, I got him to eat half a cup of low fat cooked hamburger. With food in his tummy now, he will maybe eat more later. He wanted to wander a little bit on the grass this morning. He is barking at the lawn guys outside. Good sign. First day is always hard. He wears a red striped, cut-down old teeshirt tied on top to keep him from scratching the stitches with a back foot. It kind of slow down walking which is good.

Linda, I wondered if you would sleep. The first night after the fur baby has anesthesia is always worrisome. I totally get checking if he was still breathing. It sounds like Micki is working his way back to normal. I hope you het a nap in.

Thanks for the start, Chele. I had a long post that I just lost. I think it was an Internet problem and not the new computer. Nice tomato plants! I can see the cardinal now that I know what they are. What will you do this weekend without Iggy? No extra sleep. In fact, I woke up a little after 4 and got up at the usual time. Started working on getting the new computer set up. Still not where it needs to be but will load a few more programs in the morning and hopefully I will be where I need to be then. Enjoy the lower humidity. I love the look on Coop's little bird face--like "you talkin' to ME? " I hope the photo judges will like it. Linda, great that Micki seems to be on the road to recovery. I can related to your sleepless night. It's nice that he got a good night's sleep. Maybe you can catch a nap. I'll bet he's cute in his red t. Enjoy your B&J's, Kathy. I'm amazed you went shopping on the first day of the weekly ad. How is the weather in your neighborhood? Becky, I hope you stay in the 90s or lower today. I saw on the news a little while ago about the EP shooter's mother calling the police and they said they couldn't do anything because he was over 21 with no criminal or mental health history. Is there any talk in TX about stricter background checks or red flag laws? Get through today, Liz, and you're into the weekend. How long will it take for you to hear back on your FMLA? How's Zoe doing without the staples and is Wally still being the protective brother? It's been a computer set up day so far and hopefully I will be there by tomorrow. My tabs and bookmarks automatically loaded into Chrome, so that was nice. Did you hear about the 20 year old in body armour who walked through a Springfield, MO Walmart Neighborhood Market carrying an assault rifle? I don't think he intended to shoot anyone but was protesting that Walmart has a new policy that they won't sell ammo to anyone under 21. Pretty stupid thing to do. Better get this posted before it disappears again. Sorry for any typos. Still getting used to this keyboard and the HUGE touchpad that I guess I will eventually get used to.

Chele, yes, the package recipient was in my neighborhood, but not that close to me. I ran out after the mail carrier today and dang, that guy is fast! He just kept going. So, I stalked him on his return trip and now he'll have to turn around to deliver the package. I'm a sweaty mess now after being out there for just a few minutes. That B&J will be calling me this weekend. It says 4 servings, but I get about 3 1/2 out of it. Maybe it will show up in one of your markets too. The cardinal is adding a nice splash of color to your picture. Linda, I figured you might have a long night, but that's a great sign that Micki's barking. Hope you get some rest today. Karen, they say we're in for a dry spell which means hotter temps. We're still not approaching Becky or Linda's temps though, but it is really steamy out there. My lawn already looks parched and we had rain yesterday. We decided to get the shopping out of the way before the weekend. There will be lots of back to school shopping this weekend since both Orange and Seminole counties are starting back this Monday. The university doesn't start until the 26th, so that's when it will really get busy here. Hope the laptop setup goes smoothly. Nice photo of the hawk. I like the expression on his face too. I saw the news about the guy in the Springfield Walmart and that was really stupid. What was he expecting to happen? He's lucky someone didn't think he was a shooter and shoot him. Even with the body armor, he could've been killed. Trump talks big about background checks, but then the NRA talks to him and he backs down. Maybe the tide is turning. We'll see.
Liz, Friday at last! Hope your commute home goes smoothly if you aren't already there.
Becky, hope it's not too hot today. I think we're going up to 94, so our rainy spell is over for the moment.

Kathy, you did your good deed for the day with that package. Sorry about the steamy weather. The rain you had yesterday was probably like ours--just enough to make things miserable but not enough to make a difference for the plants. We had to water everything today. Don't blame you for avoiding shopping venues on the weekend before school starts. Does DN start back when the undergrads do or are they on a different schedule? Laptop setup not going badly so far. But Microsoft stealthly loaded a couple of things I didn't ask for so I need to keep an eye on my list of programs. The guy in MO pretty much confirms to me that a 20 year old isn't mature enough to possess a lethal weapon without adult supervision. I'll bet he's in a lot of trouble. I think the store manager pulling the fire alarm was brilliant. I hope the tide is turning but I think the Republicans in the Senate are going to continue to ignore the problem and hopefully their constituents won't and we'll get new people in Congress who get it. Trump is also going on "an extended vacation", whatever that is, and supposedly won't have access to Fox News, Twitter, or the Internet. Right!!!! So I don't expect anything will happen until at least September, if then.
Micki looks so cute in his striped shirt, Linda. How is he doing this afternoon? And how are you?
Becky, I am one of those "pry them from my cold, dead hands" people when it comes to guns. But I had to go through background checks for mine and had a concealed carry permit in NC (thinking about doing that in TN but haven't yet). But I agree with stricter background checks because what we are doing now clearly isn't working. I wonder if some kind of red flag law would have prevented the EP shooter from having access to weapons. And, as we have said, no civilian needs an assault weapon.
I think I'm going to sleep good tonight. I went through my old computer and identified 11 pieces of software I need to download tomorrow. Then it will be a matter of getting used to this keyboard, which is a little funky. After that I need to start learning the desktop publisher program or it will be newsletter time before I know it. This is a crazy month since I'll be spending so much time at the fair.

Chele Thanks for the start.Texas has been talking about seceding from the union for years.LOL.There are well over a million guns in TX already.People would start burying their guns if that was the case.LOL.Kenneth has a rifle and a shotgun but they are solely for protection and killing snakes. It got up to 103 and humid so far again today.I have the AC on 77,the ceiling fan on high and the stand oscillating fan on medium.I don't like to turn it on high because it hurts my head too much if I do but I'm beginning to feel nauseous from the heat even in the house. They just reported on the news our heat index is at 114.
Linda What a sweet certificate for the vet to give Micki for being such a trooper.I hope he is feeling better today. It is a good sign he is barking.
Karen There is more talk about the red flags than the criminal background loopholes. They are trying to pass a law that one of the Houses had already passed. In Texas as you probably remember they don't work year around so they are thinking of calling a special session.I would like to see that. Our low was 80 this morning so definitely no 90's and won't be for 2 weeks probably.I hope you enjoy your computer.I don't do well with the touchpad so I always still use a mouse.
Kathy Kenneth watered the trees this morning since it's been so hot and dry.I will gladly take your 94.I haven't even poked my head out the door since 12:30.
Linda Micki looks so sad but he looks adorable in that picture.I know you are taking good care of him.

Karen, I'm sure the package recipient will be glad to get their package. I've had a package get misdelivered too and one of them never turned up. Amazon will replace it of course, but it bugged me that somebody kept it. I knew a neighbor got it since I had 2 packages that day and one was delivered to me and the missing one showed a delivery time of about 10 minutes later. Then again, maybe they gave it back to the mail carrier and it just never made it's way here. Microsoft is good about installing stuff you don't want. Mine just updated with one of their major Windows 10 updates and when I tried to print, it couldn't find my printer. Probably just need to reinstall the driver, but it's always something.
I hadn't heard the part about Trump having no access to Twitter or Fox News on his vacation. It would be nice to have a break from the constant Tweets, so I'm all for that. My dad was also a "pry them from my cold, dead hands" guy when it came to his guns, but he only owned shotguns and rifles. They were always locked away and the only time I saw him use one was to shoot a rattlesnake in the FL wilderness otherwise known as our backyard.
Becky, Key West talks about seceding from the union too, lol. They are in their own little world down there. I don't think anyone is talking about taking away shotguns or rifles. We had a ban on assault weapons before, so it can be done. If the politics prevents that, I hope they can at least improve the background checks and red flag laws. We got all the way down to 77 last night. I'll be glad when it's October. Ugh, the weather guy just said we're in for another burner of a day tomorrow and the heat index was 111 in some places today.
Chele, good point on people doing the background checks for the airports. I think a lot of the resistance to background checks for guns is just money. They sell more at the gun shows if people can immediately buy the guns with no delays.

yeah, the gun show business hates background checks...but nation wide set rule that everyone including military follows is the only way. If you can just go to another state or buy online nothing works.
The El pAso guy bought online and his relatives trued to stop it and spoke to police..but it was not illegal and they had no laws in place on crazy or dangerous people.
If you're too young to vote responsibly, drink or smoke, why would you be mature enough to but guns that kill people at a ghastly rate.. And why would you need them since that is their only reason for existing in military use.?
