We are a group of like-minded people that gather to discuss a host of topics from weight loss, to current events. Our thread celebrates liberal diversity, welcomes new friends, and respects all opinions. We count everything from calories to points but, we never count our chickens before they've hatched!

Getting us started for the day . . .
While I'm not a fan of Christie, I was glad to hear him say those Republican representatives who are trying to avoid it need to do their job and get out there to meet with their constituents. They are supposed to represent ALL their constituents, not just the ones who either agree with them or just don't care one way or the other. Refusing to hold town halls and trying to cite Gabby Giffords as a reason why is just cowardly. Gabby certainly hasn't let getting shot stand in her way. She continues to be out there in public and fighting the good fight. I agree they should take precautions for safety, but if you're not willing to meet with your constituents then you need to resign and let someone who will take your seat.
What do you think about Spicer checking his staff's phones trying to find a leak? Just one more step in Tweety/Bannon trying to form a dictatorship rather than an executive branch of democracy. I can accept checking phones that are provided by the WH and therefore the property of the WH, but he also checked their personal phones. That's carrying things too far, and yet the fact that he did that still got leaked. They are learning (or at least they should be but it seems they are slow learners), that they can not control everything in a society where people are free. That's why they are trying to squash that freedom as hard and as quickly as they can.
And still another candidate turns down a position from Tweety . . .

Interesting that Dubya is out there saying we all need answers on the Dump/Russia connection. Hmmm ...... maybe not everyone is in lockstep with the Cheeto Bandito.

Shaking my head my head & wondering "what the heck" :-(:-(
The Pruitt email saga continues –> It now turns out that new EPA head and friend of polluters everywhere Scott Pruitt used a private email address to conduct state business while Oklahoma attorney general, according to a report by Oklahoma City’s Fox TV affiliate. (Lest we forget, in the past, using a private email account messed with a certain public official’s career.) Correspondence on his government email account shows that Pruitt stuck Oklahoma government letterhead on letters to the EPA actually written by fossil fuel lobbyists. Who knows what else lurks in his private emails?
Meanwhile, not all of the emails from Pruitt’s government account have been released — and his successor in the Oklahoma Attorney General’s office is attempting to block their release.

Slowly but surely, I think we are starting to see more and more dissension. I'm glad Dubya is out there because there are a lot of Rs who look up to him. Maybe he will make them start taking a closer look at what is actually happening instead of hungrily digesting all those alternative "facts" otherwise known as outright lies.

"I'm glad Dubya is out there because there are a lot of Rs who look up to him." I think I'll wait and see just how much the R's look up to him after the orange-oaf calls him sad and pathetic. So, we have an oaf that sits and tweets about his next public appearance while a dangerous and deadly situation is unfolding. A Navy Seal is killed and many other people are injured. The oaf isn't even near the Situation Room. That really is a BIG change from the old way of doing things. Some oaf supporters got what they wanted. The times they are a changin'.

Yes, the fact that he was elsewhere sending out a self-serving tweet when that Seal was killed just makes me furious. He clearly had no interest at all by not even being in the situation room. I'm glad that the Seal's father refused to meet with him. Had I been that Seal's father I would have probably ended up in jail. Tweety absolutely disgusts me. I can't even find words to adequately describe how angry this makes me.

The Seal's father is starting to come out of the shock of losing his son and calling for an investigation.....kudos to him. What amazes me is the Trump voters with blinders on saying we should just roll over and not criticize Dummpy like they did for Obama when he was elected. Oh they did, did they?? Me don't think so. And of course they were soooooo respectful to Hillary. "Of course, Trump supporters did not have a reputation for being calm during the 2016 campaign. One New York Times article reported rallies that included chants of “Kill her!” “Trump that bitch!” and “Build a wall — kill them all!” In that context, stories about a Trump opponent stating in a Craigslist posting for a roommate that Trump supporters need not apply seem mild by comparison." Salon And my fav: "I think her bodyguards should drop all weapons. Disarm immediately," Trump said. "Take their guns away, let's see what happens to her." Very dignified and Presidental comment. At the end of the day this should not be a war between Political Parties while the Republic is circling the drain. (it was a relief staying away from the news this weekend)

I always get a laugh too, Anne, when I hear how we must just all be sore losers, that we should be respectful of Tweety and support him all the way because after all he's the President now. Ha! They were beyond horrible in the things they said about President Obama, in the way they absolutely refused to work with him, but somehow they have very quickly forgotten that.
Well I do support the Presidency. I just don't support Tweety in that role. That doesn't mean I want him to fail. In fact, I very much would love to see him be a great President. The problem is what I want doesn't equate to what we have. He is failing, and failing big time because he's not interested in leading the country and never was. He's not interested in being the President. He wants to be a dictator, and his Svengali otherwise known as Bannon tells him that he can make that happen if Tweety will only keep dancing to his tune. So Tweety polishes up his tap shoes and keeps on dancing.
