This thread is for anyone that has been away from healthy eating, had a gain and is recommitting. We accept all forms of healthy eating here, whatever that means to you. We touch base daily for accountability and to encourage one another. This is a judgment free zone.
We all struggle to get the weight off and keep it off. Sometimes this is a challenge, but we never give up and that is the key. Regardless of our situation or where we are in reaching our goal, we count on talking to each other every day and are blessed to have one another as friends.
Our motto is persistence, not perfection.

Good morning,
Just getting us started. I have a few things to do this morning and then at some point laundry, putting together a bookcase we bought for DHs home office and a possible some food prep for lunches, and mow the yard. There was just enough little short sprinkle kind of rain showers yesterday to keep it too damp all day.
Have a great day everyone! BBL

Hi Everyone, After we got off the beach and got cleaned up as much as possible, we went out for dinner and while the food was good we were put at a booth that too crowded for 6 people so it was tight and also very noisy although towards the end it seemed to get not quite as noisy. Getting home turned out be long due to a few things. In the car I was riding with we ended up having to park at this school and get a jitney down into the center of town. We had to wait for it to come but I guess we had assumed that the jitney was just going to the school and the driver never announced the stop and went by. Its dark and none of us would have recognized it in the dark but realized that the ride was taking longer than it should have. My friend goes to the driver and ask and he said he passed it. He said he would go back to it but went back thru the town to do so it took longer to get started going back and then the driver missed an exit he should have taken so fortunately found another way to get back to our meeting spot where two of our members were waiting for us to get the last leg of the trip home. We tried beforehand to figure out a different way but that left our driver by himself and the other car too crowded. That is why we needed 2 cars to begin with. Anyway, got home and to bed late for me. ( about 1 pm) I slept later this morning and basically dont plan on going out as I need to work on the portfolio and some cleaning up. If I go out it be a quick errand. Have a great day!

Good Morning Everyone... we went to Buffalo Wild Wings yesterday evening after church with DSon and family. It was nice...we haven't gone out with them after church for ages. We invited DSIL to join us at OUTBACK since DD and the DGDs have been gone for 2 weeks, but he has plans...so we are going to invite a neighbor whose DW is out of town to join us...we'll see...he may already have plans too...if so, we will just stay home this evening (after eating out last night anyway). I don't really have anything planned today except get some reading done...I have a book that is due this week, and I may go to a yoga class if we don't end up going out.
Lora - hope you have an enjoyable day...even if it is just mowing the lawn - and putting together a bookcase...lol
Janet - oh darn, what a bummer to get home so late. I know this will not be the greatest day since you have to get your portfolio done, but at least you can breathe a sigh of relief when it is finished!
Waving to everyone...bbl

Hi! It's me again.
Janet - that was a late night for you. I'm glad you were able to sleep in a little today. I hope you get all of portfolio work done that you're wanting to do.
Susie - Ohhhh. I haven't been to Outback in ages. I've always loved their food and I've always been able to find plan friendly items...no matter what plan I was currently doing. Lol
So yesterday was a little emotional for us. When we got home from the grocery run I got the mail and we had a sympathy card from the Vet office, signed by all of the staff. I was prepared for that and figured it would be coming, as almost all places do something like that now days. What took me a little by surprise was that also in the card they a paw print of my little girl. It brought a few tears for both of us. I think we're doing pretty good, it just takes time to adjust to her not being here. Especially since the last year she'd been a constant presence in my life. Anyway...I thought I'd be working on the yard by now, but with the humidity so high, the dampness is taking forever to dry up. I'm just ready to get this yard done already and get on with the day. I'm on my 2nd load of laundry while I'm waiting though, so it's not like I'm not getting anything else accomplished.

Good morning ROs. I've already gotten a walk in this morning with DN and packed up some things to bring for lunch to my DF's lake house. I'll leave in a few minutes. Our communication got crossed a little so we are going to have way too many salads but I figure we can divide them up after and we'll all have leftovers to take into the week. I like bringing some food items so at least I know I can get some plan friendly items that don't need prep.
Did I mention now I'm having some shoulder issues? I think I did. Sheesh, I'm really starting to sound like an old person. It aches off and on. I'm comforting myself that it's not my rotator cuff because I can easily raise my arm above my head. I just hope it goes away but at my age nothing seems to do that anymore. It's not really getting in my way except it's another place to have aches and pains.
Beautiful day here again today. I did pack my bathing suit but it has to be HOT for me to get in that lake, so we'll see. I got a call this morning that my director of PR was air evaced (sp?) to a hospital down in Westchester because he has a brain bleed. He's a guy in his 40's, married, with two young adopted kids. This does not sound good at all. He was also in great physical shape. You just never know, I guess. Now my shoulder doesn't seem that important...
Janet, definitely sounds like a long day for you with various logistical challenges. I hope being at the beach and with friends made it worth the hassle.
Susie, I also love Outback, haven't been in awhile. They're so accommodating about special requests and the food is so good.
Lora, I got one of those cards from my vet too, but that paw print makes it so special and personal. No wonder you guys shed a few tears. It's going to take awhile to heal, I think.
Well, I better be going. Have a great day all. Oh, I see on FB that it's RobinS's birthday today. Happy Birthday Robin!!!

Well, I am ready to sit on down and chill.. I did some cleaning, laundry is in the dryer and I printed out more pictures for the portfolio but I need to print out those pages that I put on the flash drive. I will print them at work so the cost of printing wont come out of my pocket. I thought I had more pages in the book where I could have attached the pictures but I didnt. Its a process so I wouldnt have finished it today but other than going to the library I hadnt done that much but it turns out doing that work at the library is really the foundation because I cant just put pictures anywhere in the book. I have at least a good start and I am sure that any of the teachers who havent even begun are going to be overwhelmed especially with everything else that is going to be required. Jana, safe travels! I hope your daughter will be ok. This will be her second year of teaching in special education and early childhood, right? Andi, enjoy your day at the lake. The extra salads will make at least tommorow easier for planning meals. Happy Birthday Robin S. Hope you have a nice day. Lora, it was nice of your vet and staff to send the card and paw print even tho it made you sad for a few. I hope you finally get the yard finished today. Susie, whatever you do for dinner whether it is going out or staying home, enjoy. One of the members in my group always jokes and says that our group should be called the Outdoor Mosaic Mountain Club and Eating Club. Its true in a way because we mostly do go out afterwards. He says he wouldnt mind if we didnt always go out to eat. Well, he has that option as nobody is forcing him to go out and sometimes he leaves after the event. If he isnt willing to drive tho and he often doesnt volunteer then he is at least forced to go with the group especially if we arent anywhere near home but he could choose either not to get an entree or I guess if there is something nearby go to a store maybe. Have a nice remainder of the day!

I have been baking and cooking today...very unusual for me... I took some pound cake to a neighbor who just had hip replacement surgery and have something almost ready for dinner, but I am holding off in case the neighbor we invited to dinner replies YES - if I don't hear from him in an hour, I will go ahead and finish dinner. I think I will run up to the clubhouse gym, ride the bike, and read ... I didn't make it to yoga since I have been waiting to see if DN responds.
Awww Lora... that is sweet. I got a card and an clay/cement (?) paw print. I may have paid for that though.
Andi - I agree... bringing home leftovers for the week is a great idea. Will you drive back home this evening? Glad you got the walk in ...sorry about the shoulder...isn't it always something? I feel like every time I turn around, I am having another issue. And speaking of that, I had better get up and on that bike!

Pheeew! I changed the oil in the mower, got all 2 acres mowed while Mark used the push mower, weedwhacker and blower to work on the front ditch and up close to the house and patio. Showers completed, lunch has been prepared & eaten, dishes washed and I just started the final load of laundry. Ahhhhhhhh...and now I'm sitting down to relax for a few minutes. So I bought something yesterday that I haven't bothered with in probably 5 or 6 years. I bought hair color. I feel so flipping good physically and mentally/emotionally but I just keep getting more and more white hair and all of the sudden it's really starting to bother me. Definitely making me look older than I feel (in my mirror anyway..haha). So I'm going to do that this week. I actually let Mark pick the color. Thankfully he came in with "cappuccino brown", I was taking a chance since they also had hot pink, lime green, etc. This little town would never stop talking if I ended up with something that was too much fun. Andi - so sorry to hear that your shoulder is bothering you. I think it was about 3 years about that I had that weird bout of bursitis. UGH. That was miserable. Not lifting or doing anything that caused pain, NSAIDs and time were the only thing that helped. Well, they offered a steroid shot into the joint, but I said NO THANKS! to that. The last (only) time I had a steroid shot was in the late 80s and I had a terrible reaction, so I just took the long route to healing. And dang it seemed like it took a long time. Anyway, I hope the lunch and the lake is awesome. It certainly sounds like fun. Okay, I think it's time to moved the laundry into the dryer.

Hello to all, it has been a while. Janet, thanks for the birthday wish. Had a nice day so far today, it has been an eating weekend though.
Andi, I developed a problem with my arm too, I say shoulder but really more upper arm, but makes it hard to lift things. Me and my friends say the same things, we complain like we are old people. The problem is that we think we are still young.
Lora, I very rarely color my hair, but did it before my future DDIL's bridal shower, so early may. It is now starting to look like I can see some growing in, but not like I want to do it all over again, so may just do root touch up for the wedding. If it wasn't for the wedding, I wouldn't bother, but I think you are quite a bit younger than I am. If you have that little gray, doing it yourself is the way to go, and you probably won't have to do it very often at all. It's when you get the dreaded line that it really starts to be a problem. I do remember our vet sending a card after our last dog passed away. It takes a while to get used to not having them around. Glad you managed to get the yard work and mowing in.
Susie, nice that you got to see DS et all last night, always nice to see family. I guess a good thing that your DS had plans, so not missing the family as much.
Janet, sorry you had such a terrible time getting home yesterday.
So far a very nice day. The weather is great. We went out for Chinese Dim Sum for brunch. That is when they wheel around carts of different types of appetizers, they charge a certain amount for each plate size or steamer basket, and tally up at the end. We are still stuffed and it is 6:00. This place is out here on Long Island, but at least as good if not better than places in Chinatown or Flushing, which is a section of Queens that has become so Asian that more of the street signs are written in Chinese, Korean, or whatever. This place also has mostly non-fried, which is not as common. The variety today was overwhelming, so passed up a lot of things. I came up for a book I have been waiting for through the library, Montauk, so started that and it is very good so far.

Robin, is that the name of the book or the name of the library system?

Montauk is the name of the book. I use 2 different library systems, Nassau County, which is great but I can only put 7 books on hold at a time, and NY Public, which is not a NYC library system, like some think, it's NY State. I get things from them too, but lately a lot of the really popular titles they have been having in audio but not ebooks, which is strange. I can put 14 on hold from NY.

Hi everyone,
Well, this morning I wrote a long post and some personals, and when I hit "send" I got a message that I wasn't connected to the internet. Lost it all. Just now, I wrote a long post with personals to all and what I have been up to, and poof. Its gone. So... I want to say hi to everyone. I did catch up on reading what all of you have been doing... Janet, I hope everything goes well with your work partner. It sounds like you did a good job getting that portfolio started. Lora, glad you got your yard work done. Don't you really like that new oil change feature? Andi, I hope your friend will pull through. That's a tough thing to go through. Sorry you are aggravated with that shoulder. Mine are easily aggravated too, so I know how it can interfere with things. Susie, I hope the dinner arrangements worked out! Well, I will keep it short, because I really wanted to touch base. I hope to be back tomorrow, but it is my long day, so I never know how it will go. I hope everyone has a great start to the week. I'm waving to anyone I missed,
RobinMD
