Thought I would jumpstart our thread. Hope that no one minds the super early jumpstart.
Loved, loved your stories about your families and growing up. Loved, loved hearing more about those DHs. I Share the same concerns that my DH forgets he is not an invincible young man.
Becky Am sure that pesky .4 will be gone soon, maybe even today!

Monday's goals Start my day w/ simple pleasures-- Earl Grey then a bubble bath. Decide if leftovers are on tap for dinner or lunch Cross my fingers & make my phone calls. Hoping for the best...
Have been counting my blessings. It's helping. Been looking at the big picture from a different vantage point. It's helping.

June, thanks for our start. Today I will track, move and hydrate. I have a routine appointment with the urologist at 10:45. I did on line check in. Iβll have time to walk, call the shower door company and stop by the janitorial supply place for tile cleaner. I have a last load of laundry, bedding the house sitter used but in a day or two the laundry pile will grow again. Dinner will be unfried farm raised catfish with corn on the cob and salad Have a good Monday
Bee, I hope you meant drink water π

I too enjoyed reading about y'all.
I had a piece of homemade apple pie and sharp cheddar cheese. I'm sure I'll pay for that indulgence tomorrow. It was warm from the oven and worth every oz I add to me lol.
Tomorrow I shall give it my all.
Sleep well.

June I have gotten to where the daily fluctuations don't bother me as much as long as they are under 1 lb anyway.Counting your blessings do help.I could do more of that myself.
Bee If my mind would ever think it was 30 again I would faint.I think i will ditto your goals today.
Audrey You already have a busy day planned and you just got back home. You are lucky it will be cool enough to walk in the morning but I know you walk earlier than I used to.
I am planned. Will track and hydrate.I plan to get more steps in than today.Sunday is always my lower step count since we don't go to any stores on Sunday because of church.

I also take the minor blips in the scale with a grain of salt these days...and a glass of water:). Great goals Becky.

Sunday went by like a flash and I never made it by. I got a walk in but will need to hit the reset button Monday. My Jayleigh came over and went with me to the back to school bash at our church. Monday will be OP and back to a normal work schedule.
Audrey, I'm so sorry about George and you're not feeling well. Hope you will be back in the swing of things soon.
Ann, loved hearing about the bear! We see one every one and then around here. The pie sounds yum
June, Randy is an outdoor fella so even when hunting season is over he finds something to piddle with in the yard. If he's inside he falls asleep in the recliner watching reruns of gunsmoke LOL - cute story about your mom and her friends enjoying and laughing.
Cathy, I've never thougt of putting those things on a baked potato but it sounds good! Randy loves to hunt and is quite successful every year. He usually gets two or so for our freezer and then he gives his other harvests to friends who want deer meat but do not hunt. My daughter Laken also hunts and she does really well too.
Susi, the vegetable and bbq chicken sounds good. I agree about laughter.
MJ,LOL Randy is so technology challenged. Everytime he wants to view his deer camera pics I have to show him how...this man that can build a house from the ground up can't figure how to insert the card and pull it up on the computer LOL
Becky, I'm also a slow loser. Some people can drop so easy.
Bee, love the poster LOL

Bee j Ha ha ha... I was so focused on the mental lie that I missed the possibility that your drink goal meant anything other than water. Audrey & Ann'sversion tickled my funny bone.
Audrey You right back in the saddle w/ lots to do. Dinner sounds like a great start to post vacation game plan! How I see your throat? L Belle? Becky When it comes to maintenance, yiu know the score! Great attitude. What happens between the ears makes a big difference. I often say that the "fat" I smostly in my head.
A day of more rest and reflection has it's own reward. Helps us to recharge.
LaDonna Ahhhh. . . Lovely that you could spend time w/ MIss J. Her smile she could light up a room. A back to school bash-- what a great idea! Did your church give away book bags? School supplies.
Randy shares those traits w/ R. Although my R is better than he use to be. You name the western TV show, my guy probably watched it as a child. He got a Daniel Boone cap when he was little.

June, Bob had a Daniel Boone hat too. It's so funny because so many men run the tech world yet the everyday man is behind the technology curve.

I am willing to: * record the meal before I eat it * stop eating when I have reached target points/calories (or before) * hydrate * set the timer too exercise
Yesterday hubby put the eggplant on the barbecue, baked it till done, peeled it and brought it to me. I put it through the food processor with garlic, lemon and tahini to make baba ganouj. We had that with Arabic flat bread and a salad of green pepper, tomato, onion and garlic and galled it good. I also made some beans in the pressure cooker to eat as protein this week and had a 9 point burrito for breakfast using some of those beans.
We talked to family in the evening. My daughter starts teaching a new course at the university this semester so is busy plotting and planning it. My granddaughters were revved up about starting school again and meeting their teachers. They said the postcard I sent came AFTER the letter I sent. They also told me I got the grade they are in this coming year WRONG. Boy did they enjoy telling me THAT! I wrote more letters and postcards to them and will send them by snail mail today.
Parents - mine met at boarding school when about 15. Mom was in the same class as my father's sister. Dad joined the army during WWII and they wrote to one another (someone may still have those letters mom kept from back then) and married when they were 19 and the war ended. Dad wore his uniform to the wedding. Mom's dress was chopped up and used by her sister (ticked mom off) and this past year that dress was worn by my niece for one of her weddings and celebration at home (they had another destination wedding, too).
BEE: Thank you for my first smile of the morning I often don't realize just how old I really am till I see my reflection or try to do something I once thought so very easy and it just isn't any more.
JUNE: We still have the green beans to cook. I wonder if it is easier to boil them whole then cut them afterward? I do like them with lemon and garlic but hubby seems to like them cooked in oil with onions and sometimes tomatoes. It sounds like the facility your mother is in is filled with wonderful people to be her (and your) friends. How fun to be the youngest in the group again! Your comment about the Golden Girls...guess what our group's name on Facebook is...my Wednesday Women's group? The Golden Girls Having good women friends is a blessing! Love your positive attitude!
ANN: I hope that if you DO see Mr. Bear you see him from a distance, from inside a house or inside a car! I have had hubby call when the phone is missing OR I have called my cell phone to find it. I have found it between the seats in the car, in another room and one time at a restaurant we had gone to...went right back to pick it up! I haven't had pie in years...it would be worth indulging to have some, I think!
SUSI: You are lucky to have a community willing to help with the feral cat situation. There are such in Beirut but they are often overwhelmed. Living outside of the city we see a lot of cats but few are ever neutered/spayed and the lifespan of most is about a year...or less.
MJ: Your toots and my hubby seem to have a few things in common...the techy think and ability to hear what is actually said. I think mine tunes in on the last half of sentences and guesses on the first part. Your police intervention at the market made me think of a time I was walking and shopping on Hamra in Beirut. I was in a shop at about midway in the aisles when a group of armed militia came in with a man they had caught. The guys were hitting the man and making a ruckus and the gist was whether or not the man had robbed their store. I stayed hunkered down between the aisles and waited till they left and quickly walked home once they had cleared out!
AUDREY: Some of my friends have purchased some kind of earphones for their husbands to wear that allows them to make the sound on the TV higher but only for them. Not an issue for us as we don't watch TV. My husband is deaf in one ear from shooting guns to kill birds to eat as a child. I also think he sometimes has selective hearing. I HATE ants! What a lovely story about the subway and your parents...how did they finally end up going out? I sometimes wonder why it is that couples end up with one couple liking the AC on and the other not, windows open/not, spicy/bland, etc... You will drop those pesky pounds this week with the plan you are setting up! Glad Leo enjoyed the party and your throat is better. Laundry, dishes, dust, death and taxes are something we can't avoid in life...well...we could if we ate with our hands and lived in a mess, perhaps?
BECKY: Another husband (yours) that seems to have a bit in common with mine! I love it when he says he is just "resting his eyes" while snoring Men...gotta love 'em. I agree on breaking in a new one...might have been willing decades ago but at 67 and him 80...probably not.
PAM: I remember drive-through car washes...haven't seen one in decades!
LADONNA: How wonderful that you were too busy to stop by yesterday. My father used to watch Gunsmoke when I was little. My husband wants ME to take the photos and send them as he "doesn't know how" and obviously doesn't want to learn how to do so!
Okay...time for me to wrap this up. There are holidays this week so not sure which day the post office will be open to send letters by snail mail.

Good morning, all!
I'm exhausted - I went to lie down after NASCAR for an hour or so and woke up this morning. Four hours of heavy yard work was enough for one day, I guess.
DivaTaxi, LA-F, MHSS are all on schedule. Today's a 4-Boyz day. We are going to the trampoline park for 11 AM. I will be sitting and watching, not jumping. Then - like we did for Milla & Logan last week - the plan is for lunch and play date.
Need coffee... LOTS of coffee... βββ... and ibuprofen...
πΏπ»πΏπ»πΏπ»πΏπ»πΏ Have a healthy-eating day, all! πΏπ»πΏπ»πΏπ»πΏπ»πΏ
