Thanks for the start, Karen. Congrats on the loss. At least the Garmin records inclines. The iPhone does but the Watch does not. How did the pumpkin zucchini bread turn out? How do you make the green beans and potatoes for Dale? I watch 9-1-1 as well and don’t remember seeing commercials for the Masked Singer either.
Kathy, I do not remember the Key West story at all. It sounds like fiction, very funny fiction. I found out who the final Masked Singer and had to look him up on Google. Never heard of him. I can’t wait for the new season in September. How did I miss this the first time around?
Linda, how was Micki’s check up? Is he still feeling frisky? Is he still mad he wasn’t able to get in bed with you? What’s on your agenda today?
Becky, have you been able to sleep at night with the heat and the pain from the knees? It was a lot more humid this morning when I went out to pick some cherry tomatoes and start the sprinkler on a new section of lawn. We don’t have buried sprinklers, so I have to do it by hand. I grew up going to churches with no AC just big fans. We didn’t know what we were missing.
Liz, I hope you didn’t have to commute today. What did SM have to say? Are you still having nice weather? Our humidity levels went up this morning.
I picked up a few things at Kroger after my early morning yard work and came back and got some more steps walking the house. I have one more lazy day before the slave driver gets back so I am taking advantage.

I surely do not miss that upstate NY humidity even with 70s. I just do not tolerate it after 38 years in the desert.
Everybody is so industrious, and I have no motivation.
Did get out to Miracle Gro the pots and flower garden....tried the new liquid stuff, but you are supposed to attach it to the faucet, hose out another spot...not disconnecting that hose and the switch from feed to water is cheesy and hard to move. tried two hoses and nothing came out. so i poured the liquid into the old sprayer for granulated stuff and half way through the connection with the hose, which was tight decided to spray all over me, at least only water. Took a shower and Ordered a new one and the old Miracle gro from Amazon and decided nature did not want me to work yesterday.
This morning Micki had his stitches checked..still some swelling but healing well. he hates being picked up and it is hard to do because of the stitches under his arm and on his chest. Out of car is worse. That was today's adventure. I can stop the gabapentin for pain because he feeling entirely too good on it and trying to jump. Yea, no need to get up at 5:30. So just another two days on anti-inflammatory med in the evening.

Chele, I probably wouldn't remember the Key West story either if I didn't live in FL. I think they've invoked the Conch Republic for a few other things over the years and the annual celebration usually makes the news here. I could picture that story in a Mel Brooks movie. I looked up the Masked Singer and the one I remembered was Donny Osmond. I'd forgotten that he came in second. I've heard of the winner, but don't know his music. I may watch it next time too. Looks like fun. Enjoy your last lazy day.
Linda, glad Micki is making good progress. You always seem pretty industrious to me.
Becky, today they said some areas could get up to 4" of rain this week. So much for that dry forecast! 102 is way too hot. Hope you can stay cool inside.
Karen, I did indulge in a couple of servings of the B&J this weekend. It's a good weekend treat. Congrats on the loss. I was down 2 lbs this week which was a total surprise since I didn't think I was OP on some days. We'll see if it sticks. Those breads sound wonderful. Cream cheese icing on breads like that or carrot cake is one of the few non-chocolate desserts I really like.
Liz, hope your Monday isn't too hectic. When will be able to start working from home?

Chele, Garmin records inclines sometimes. I have been down to and up from the lake twice and made 2 trips down and back up from the lower level of the house and it's still only giving me credit for 1 flight of stairs. Do you have to be carrying the iPhone to get it to record inclines? That's inconvenient. The pumpkin zucchini bread turned out well. The recipe didn't call for salt, so I didn't add any but I wish I had because that's the one thing it needs just a touch of. The beans and potatoes are pretty easy. I cut up the potatoes and soak them in cold water to release some of the starch. Then I snap the ends off the beans, put them in the Instant Pot in a steamer basket, add chopped candy onions, then put the potatoes on top. I cook them on the steam setting for 10 minutes and do a quick release. I love 9-1-1, but Dale is so-so on it due to it being only part action. He doesn't get into the interpersonal relationships. We do pick out occasional flubs as a result of both of us being in EMS and fire. I hope they will get Maddie and Chimney back together this season. How they continue to develop the Athena/Bobby story after they're married will be interesting. I was sorry they sent Abby to Europe. She and Buck were fairly unique. I'm glad I didn't miss the Masked Singer commercials. Did you have AC in your house growing up? We didn't, nor did we have it in our church or school. I think we don't do as well in the heat these days because we don't have much occasion to be out in it, with air conditioned houses, churches, schools, buildings, etc. When I get into a place that's not air conditioned, I really feel it. I use soaker hoses in the raised beds, so I just have to hook the hose to which ever bed I want to water and then remember to set the timer in the kitchen to go turn it off or switch to another bed. Watering at the roots works better for veggies and those do a good job.
I was also wondering about your sleeping in the heat, Becky. Can you use the big fan as white noise? Hopefully you don't have a warm blooded critter or two draped over you all night. Were the crowds back to normal levels at WM and HEB today, or did you not have to go?
Kathy, I guess I remember the KW incident because it's just so typical for that area. You're right about it sounding like something Mel Brooks would create. Orlando made the local weather this morning because they were saying you're in for a lot of rain but didn't say why. Do you have a system coming your way? I fought the urge to dive into some B&J earlier this afternoon. I'm about 2/3 of the way through one of the pints I bought last week. The cream cheese icing on the pumpkin zucchini bread has cinnamon in it, so it's a little different. I wish I would have sifted the powdered sugar before I put it in, however, because it was a little lumpy.
YAY! on Micki's trip to the vet. Not surprised there is still some inflammation. It will be good to get him off the gabapentin. I remember when Phoebe was on it, she would crash within 30 minutes of getting it and then about 4 hours later she would wake up wired. I know the stitches made the trip a challenge. Will the stitches come out on his next appointment? Will that be early next week? I thought they still had the old type of Miracle Gro available. I always wondered how well those spray-on versions actually worked. You've done enough work for the day so I hope you can rest.
Liz, how are you doing? Like the others, I wondered how soon you would be able to start the telecommute. I know it can't be soon enough and neither can the surgery.
I did a swim this morning. Lake level is going down, so I'm figuring about 2 more weeks of that if we don't get a lot of rain. I also took the kayak out for about 45 minutes. Other than that, I got Dale on my health and dental insurances, cut a bunch of stuff from our phone plan that will save us about $25 a month, and have AT&T coming next Monday to take a dead tree off our telephone wire coming to the house. Arya also has ground turkey cooling that I need to portion out and put in the freezer. But she is sound asleep attached to me so I'm not going anywhere for the moment. The touchpad and I are doing a little better at peacefully coexisting. The other computer crashed this morning but I was able to get it back. I think I still have a few things I need to check on so I'm not ready to shut it down yet for what very well may be the last time.

Good news for you and Micki, Linda. I leave all the garden spraying other than water to Iggy. I can never get them to work. Thanks for the heads up on the spinach.
Kathy, I was rooting for Peacock (Donny Osmond) and Rabbit (Joey Fatone from Nsync). I guessed Donny but not Joey. They were the best all around entertainers in their costumes.
Karen, I liked the Abby/Buck storyline as well. We’ll see if Maddie and Chimney cannot work through the mental trauma. I am sure you and Dale would recognize the errors made in the EMS segments. Do you salt and pepper the beans, onions and potatoes while they are steaming? Iggy planted green beans in his raised box and they are tall but no flowers yet. I have hopes for them even though they were planted very late. Yes, we also water the veggies at the roots. The sprinkler is set to hit the grass and trees and flowers not the herbs and veggies. I know that trimming the budget feeling. I am sure it is a relief to get Dale covered.
PS what kind of flowers are in the avatar? Very pretty.

Karen, pretty flowers. I think I'm about halfway through my first pint of B&J. I'm trying to save it for the weekends, but I'm not always successful at that! It's been pouring with lightning here since about 4pm, but this is just our normal thunderstorms when it gets hot. The power flickered off and on, but stayed on this time. We are getting a system by the end of the week, so they're saying even more rain. I'm so glad I don't have to walk out in that work parking lot and drive in this. That's great that you got Dale covered. One less thing to worry about.
Linda, thanks for the spinach warning.
Chele, I'd forgotten Joey Fatone was the Rabbit. I would've rooted for him and Donny too.

Chele, I let Dale season the beans as he chooses after I cook them. That also lets him season different ways on different days if he wants. The beans in my garden haven't done well. They had nice vines but nothing else. I hope yours will work out better. Mine finally withered away. They were part of a UT vegetable trial, so I don't know if it was just me or whether it was across the entire trial. My cucumbers are still doing well and I pulled off another one this morning that is about a foot and a half long. I'll make the cucumber dill salad on Wednesday and plan to change it up a bit, such as adding some lemon juice and garlic. I'll let you know how it turns out. I left the oil out when I made it last week and I honestly didn't miss it. I added a little water instead. Dale was able to get COBRA coverage until my plan kicks in, and yes, it is a relief that he will have insurance now until he is eligible for Medicare. The new avatar is another of the photos I will be entering in the fair.
I can relate to your being happy about not having to be out in the rain going to and from a parking lot for work. Congrats on keeping your power in the storm. The weather person made it sound like the storms there were going to hit by mid week, so it sounds like you have a little time to prepare. We may get rain tomorrow but I haven't heard how much or what will be bringing it. I may finish off pint 1 of B&J's tomorrow or Wednesday. We have an ice cream social for master gardeners next Monday evening so I'll take a pint with me so I'll have something and anyone who wants to try it may feel free.

Karen Thanks for the start.Pretty flowers.Congrats on your loss.I found your 0.4 last week.
Chele I have heard of the Masked Singer but never watch Fox shows except for the local news.I'm glad you have enjoyed it.I sleep fairly well.By bedtime it's a little cooler in here and I'm able to turn the big fan off and turn up the AC.The last 2 churches we have attended have had really cold ac.It's good when it's really hot but it can get too cold too.I'm not the only one talking about how cold it is in there.I seem to get most of my steps other than the recumbent bike I get walking in the house.
Linda I'm glad Micki is off the pain meds and hope he feels better soon.
Kathy I would love some of your rain. They are talking about maybe 1/10 if we are lucky. It got up to 104 today and 105 in Austin.Looking for 106 tomorrow and if we get rain on Wednesday maybe 99.Gee some cool off.Congrats on your loss also.
Karen The big fan is too noisy even on low so I end up turning it off when I want to sleep.Scooter has started back on her nightly ritual of wanting to be with me on the recliner so I get her on the side and rub her tummy until I fall asleep which usually isn't long and when I wake up early morning or if I wake up at night she is off the recliner and I never feel or hear her get off.WM was normal. They only had one register open so I used self checkout and HEB is still busy because school is still out.Sounds like you had a productive day.I am frustrated with DISH right now.I like to watch marathons on older stations and a couple of channels are messing up and have a signal loss to where the audio and video is distorted and because of that the guide won't go past 24 hours.I have done every troubleshooting trick I know and they are so hard to get on the phone because of the wait time so I went to online chat tonight and scheduled a technician visit. They can't come until 8/23 between 4-6 which is a bad time for Kenneth but I'm tired of it.If we weren't still under contract I would switch back to DTV.
Liz I hope work wasn't too evil today.

B+j cannot be in our house! Magnum ice cream in stick neither...had that in Germany waiting for a plane once..oh my.
Micki has finished his meds and is too frisky without sedating effect of pain med, but better without it. Cannot resume his regular activities until Sunday night. Has his appetite back. Stitches remain two weeks...Aug 22.
I was a zombie today because I am so sleepy when I take Zyrtec at night three days...maybe 3.5 now. It was ok if i took it late afternoon. It does drag me down that day. Might try Claritan next time. Did you know really long term use of either one, especially Z causes nasty itching withdrawal symptoms especially in older women? I sure do not need that.
