We don't travel that much but I do know that if I'm in Maryland I'm going to have a crab cake. Also found out from a trip to Missouri that the Mid-West is the place to have meat. Had great fresh fish in Boston. We have thriving oyster businesses in my area but I don't like oysters.

The past several years my travel has been to Hawaii - the fish and the produce is to die for. In addition to the restaurants, there is a great selection of island grown food at the Lahaina Safeway. The local Maui eggs are the best I've ever tasted.

In California it's definitely Mexican food. In NYC it's a kick ass bagel from Essa Bagel, and Shanghai soup dumplings in Chinatown. God, there's so much awesome food in the NYC/NJ area! Subs, Italian...!
We were in Palm Beach this weekend to visit family and we had brunch on Sunday and there was a seafood bar and for the first time in my life I finally tried Stone Crab claws. OMG, there are amazing! I ate enough for 3 people but figured it wasn't very fatty so...of course the remoulade sauce I used wasn't LF but...I enjoyed the hell out of that crab. I also had a lobster roll for lunch one day, always fabulous.
In Thailand there's a great dessert that's cold coconut milk that you add stuff to, like sweet corn kernels, and all manner of sago palm gummie thingies, it's delicious on a hot day. Anything in Thailand is better than here because they dumb down the spices here. But my favorite foods there are the Won Ton Noodle soup I get at my hotel restaurant, and this stuff called Mieng Kham which I get on the street - it's an edible leaf wrapped in a triangular pouch and inside is tamarind sauce, peanut, toasted coconut, lime, ginger, and something else which escapes me, and you pop it in your mouth as a one-bite, and the flavors just burst in your mouth, it's sooooo good!
In East/Southern Africa my go to is mealie meal - sort of like thick stiff grits, that's eaten with everything.
And in Nepal it's definitely Momos - veggie steamed dumplings. Delish!
