This thread is for anyone that has been away from healthy eating, had a gain and is recommitting. We accept all forms of healthy eating here, whatever that means to you. We touch base daily for accountability and to encourage one another. This is a judgment free zone.
We all struggle to get the weight off and keep it off. Sometimes this is a challenge, but we never give up and that is the key. Regardless of our situation or where we are in reaching our goal, we count on talking to each other every day and are blessed to have one another as friends.
Our motto is persistence, not perfection.

Good morning ROs. Went to PT this morning and did a conference call at 8. I have another one at 11 and then I'm really on vacation. In between I have to pack, go to the bank and take care of a couple of other errands. Excited about a few days off and away and to see the littles and DD. But I get stressed with all the organizing that goes into getting away, cross country flights, etc. It will be fine but I always get pre-travel jitters. I also have so much stuff for the DGKs that there is no room in my suitcase for my clothes. It's Lily's birthday on Sunday so in addition to my usual purchases, I'm bringing a birthday present for her, and DD says if I bring a big doll for Lily, I have to bring one for Evelyn too or the jealousy will be impossible to manage. I'm also bringing books and these weird things called squishies. DN says her niece loves them so I'm bringing a couple.
RobinMD, I don't think I thanked you for your supportive and hopeful words about my work colleague. I've heard he's able to string a few words together now, so improvement there, and I think the team is feeling that if there's no brain swelling today, he's out of the worst of this crisis phase. The AVM is in a part of his brain that is inaccessible so it's not clear if they'll be able to operate or if he'll have radiation or some combination of the two. They're not planning on the surgery or other treatment now, basically need the brain to heal for awhile. He'll definitely be out of the office for a good long while but I feel more hopeful than I did when I first saw him.
Hope everyone has a great weekend. I'm sure I'll be in touch from CO since I never really adjust to the time change and will be up super early in the morning every day.

Good morning!
It has been a whirlwind week for me. Boston was fun and the training class gave some helpful tools. I didn't really learn to much about myself but I did get some tools on how to establish some boundaries at work and how to say NO without apologizing for it.
Andi I hope you enjoy your vacation and the time with family. I hope this does not hurt your feelings but I disagree with your DD's comment about bringing 2 large dolls. Life is not equal and it is the one DGD birthday not both. When it is the other's bday then she gets her big gift. I am not saying completely leave that child out but I do not feel the gifts have to be equal for a birthday. If it were Christmas that would be different. Your DGD should be able to have her day and enjoy her gifts. Anyway - just my 2 cents - it kind of feels like the whole "everyone gets a trophy"
Example when DGS had his first birthday and DGD was still small -we bought her a small gift of some stickers or temporary tattoos I can't remember exactly but her gift was a small gift while DGS got his big birthday gift from us. Now that they are older (Saturday DGS turns 6) DGD does not receive a gift on his birthday.
I am back home and swamped with work. I am working from home today trying to get myself together before heading into the office on Monday

Hi Everyone, Another day in Paradise. Thankfully a break after for the weekend. I may leave a little early this afternoon to stop at the library near my work and then just pop back on the bus and continue home instead of having to do so much tommorow. Since I dont have so many children enrolled yet and the classroom is pretty much together I dont have any visits from parents today. I thought I'd be overwhelmed right as soon as I came back. It will happen but just not yet. We had to take some things and move it off the floor but we dont have so much that was on the floor and the guys said said they would move the heavier stuff. Of course we will have to put it back together but I took a picture of it so that should help. Andi, I hope you enjoy your trip despite it being hectic and a bit crazy. Thats really about it for now. Have a good day!

Glad you had a good trip, Jana! Being able to say no without apologizing is a gift. And you're right about the birthday presents of course. I don't think in the future there will be a big issue with this and I'm sure DD agrees in principle as well. But, and of course there's a but, DD is so overwhelmed and stressed out right now that I really don't want to add to it. So this year, the big one will be spoiled and next year reality will be dealt with. The little one isn't even getting a party this year - I think everyone's on overload there.
Janet, glad your year is starting off slower than you'd anticipated. It helps to ease back into things when you're not under water from the outset.
I don't know what to take on the plane for dinner tonight. I'd like a yogurt and fruit but I won't get that past TSA, or at least not the yogurt part. Maybe I'll just take a protein bar and fruit. I don't even have time in Detroit, when I change planes, to forage for something. Again, 40 minutes between flights or something, and one end of the airport to the other, so I race walk the thing.

Hey everyone -
Sorry for being absent this week - it's the week before the halls open so things are quite insane. I asked for today off. It's a little bit silly because I will likely go to the office for several hours tomorrow to finish some stuff - but it's nice to have time off on a Friday. I'm going to do some housework today, I already slept in until 8 am, and later I'm taking donations to the thrift store, getting groceries and getting a pedicure. :-)
I feel like I've missed a lot of what's going on with folks. Let me get through next week and I'll be much more attentive. Sending everyone good vibes fo a Happy Friday and a wonderful weekend!

Hi ROs... well, since I had to take DGS to a YMCA morning sports camp, I did not get to the gym AGAIN...must go to my clubhouse gym in a few. I did have a marvelous massage though...man, I wish I could just take that masseuse home with me.
Andi - I know what you mean about stressing when traveling...at least you do it more often so are a "little" more used to it. The girls will be thrilled with all you bring!! Hey, get used to having to know what each new toy is at any given moment - lol! Glad your colleague is doing better.
RobinMd - like Andi said, it is so good to have you and all of your experience/knowledge here!
Jana - yippee...glad the trip was fun...it took me a l-o-n-g time before I could say NO - that is not saying that I still feel comfortable with it, but at least I don't feel totally guilty. I am pretty good at just getting the birthday child a gift, but my DGM always got us both gifts when we were little (but then, DSister and I were her favorites (whoops); however, even the smallest thing from her meant so much.
Janet -yeah for no visiting parents today...you should see me smiling at your "another day in paradise" - ha!
Oh talking about flight layovers..when DD,her 3 girls, her friend and her 3 boys were on their way back from the trip out West, they had a layover and thought they had plenty of time, but forgot about the time change and ended up throwing all of their food they had just ordered into a bag and the 8 of them running like crazy to catch the flight....fortunately they made it.
Amanda - waving to you...good for you in taking today off AND for getting a pedicure!

Hello friends. Happy Friday!!
I've had a lot going on today - to include making a run into Guntersville to do the weekly grocery shop so DH an I don't have to do it tomorrow. I always feel a little bit bad when he has to use part of his weekend time to do that. On the other hand, it really nice when I don't have to carry all of the groceries in by myself. haha. Anyway, that's all taken care of so we can do whatever else we want this weekend.
Andi - safe travels. I hope every thing goes smoothly for you.
Janet - good that you're not getting overwhelmed right at the beginning. It's nice to get to ease into the more hectic pace, I'm sure.
Jana - Nice. It sounds like you got some potentially valuable information and tactics during you Boston trip. I'm sure you're glad to be back home.
Amanda - I hope you're able to enjoy your day off and won't have to spend to much of it at the office.
Susie - You must be having gym withdrawals this week! But YAY for a great massage!

I ended up leaving even a bit earlier than I planned which really was just by only a few minutes. They really werent supposed to start waxing the floors near where the children were due to the fumes it emits. They moved the kids downstairs and the staff who werent directly involved with the children were told we could leave. I decided to go to the library that was closer to my house rather than the one near work. I was only once in that library once since they made renovations and I recall them not having that big a selection of books. It only took me no more than ten minutes to pick two books. One was by an author of a different book I liked. Both had an Amish characters and Amish theme. Amanda, sorry its been rough with getting ready for the students. Even tho mine are a lot lot younger than yours, I have separation issues, parent issues (not wanting to leave the kids ,etc. So not so different. The first three or four weeks we have kids crying but most adjust. So that is one of the toughest parts of the year besides all the paperwork. Today I heard that one staff gave her resignation. I am not sure if today was her last day or she still will be working another two weeks. Another one may be leaving too soon but dont know who but wouldnt mind if it was her friend as I didnt care for her either. That leaves us with too many vacancies tho of assistant teachers but it might be easier to find assistant teachers instead of lead teachers but actually the lady that just gave it today is a lead teacher. Oh well! Have a good evening!

Happy Friday everyone! For a Friday in a doctor's office, today wasn't bad. The doc I work for was stressed out this whole week, and she was anxious to leave today because her sister flew in from Texas, and they are going to the beach for a long weekend. I know she needs it. She is very much liked and as a result, a lot of patients request to see her, so her schedule gets really full, while the other providers often have pretty long periods of time with no patients. She hasn't been a provider all that long, so she gets stressed if she feels behind. I've been there a lot longer than her, so I know most of the patients and can keep her moving pretty well. And my mood can directly impact her stress level, so I have to watch how I react to things! I feel the same way when I am on the medic unit, and if I'm busy and get behind on my reports, it is stressful, so I sure get it. I am working tomorrow from 8a to 8p, and it is going to be really hot and humid. Lora, glad you guys got your shopping done.... I loved the picture of the ships! How cool was that!? Was there a special occasion? Hope you have time now to just enjoy your weekend. Janet, I hope the loss of the other teachers won't impact your work too much. You sound like you have it together, really well. Like Susie, I did have to giggle at the "angels" comment! Amanda, don't you feel a bit bad about taking a day off, or not making it here, when you are busy! Look at me! I disappeared for years! HA... I love making it here when I can, and I'm so glad I could reconnect with everyone after a couple of really rough years. I hope you are still feeling positive about some future changes. Andi, I sure hope you have a relaxing and happy visit in Colorado.... I get anxious about pending events sometimes, and once I am into it, things are fine. I am glad you are a little less distraught about your friend. Great, too, that he is showing some improvement. It sounds like he is getting great care. Susie, I laughed at Lora saying you would have gym withdrawals! But geez, you are so active, you must enjoy all the different ways to get your exercise. I would love to try a massage sometime. My YDD is a massage therapist and works at a spa in Leesburg, and has a place in Frederick that she runs.... have I ever gotten a massage from her? NO! But I don't want to take time from her clients, and I can't afford a massage, generally! HA! Jana, glad you enjoyed your trip to Boston. Sounds like some really good "tools" that you got out of it. Amazing how hard it can be to say "no"....especially someone as kind hearted as you Well, guess I had better get my uniform ready and get things packed up for work tomorrow. I'm taking my laptop (glad you got yours, Lora), so I should have time to get on here. I have a few things I need to get done on it at some point tomorrow, so we shall see! I never know at this station. It is so remote, but sometimes it is really busy, and sometimes, you can go days without a call! I have some leftover Thai to take with me, that is fried rice with vegetables and really good, big shrimp. I'll take that and some fruit, and maybe a yogurt for a snack if I need it. I hope everyone has a great weekend, and hopefully, I will be back tomorrow. Have a good evening everyone! RobinMD
