Hi all. Thought I'd jump start us. Tomorrow I plan on finishing the book I'm reading. It's just ok which is why it's taking me so long. For some reason I want to find out how it ends lol. Not much of a story and can't even remember the name......
Carl is going to smoke a pork shoulder. I will have a little as I find that cut of meat fatty. I picked up a lot of fresh veggies so I will make a good size salad.
Heat will determine how much outdoor walking I do.
Sleep well

Thx, Ann, for starting our thread. That is one thing about pulled pork. Am like you, tasting or eating a little bit is enough. Hope the weather allows you to walk outside.tomorrow.
Ha ha ha. . . Understand how a book generates enough commitment to keep you reading it to the end, but isn't too engaging. I usually skim books like that.

I always read the first chapter then the last chapter. It fascinates me how folks get from Point A --- first chapter --- to Point B --- last chapter. I've been that way all my life because I don't like surprises, never did.
I am AWARE of being WILLING!

Bee, my girlfriend reads the same way and it drives me crazy. I have to read the pages in order and almost always must finish what I start. Laura and Nora spent the night because their air conditioner Died and the part canβt be ordered till Monday. Today we are going to our last parkway party. It is at the Sun Maid plant and we will see how plums are turned into prunes . Then there is a 5 course dinner at the Vineyard restaurant in Madera and every course will have prunes πBack on plan Monday.

Yesterday there was a breeze so though it was warmer outside it was cooler to have the windows open...seemed to make the humidity inside and outside more manageable for some reason. I did laundry - that did not help with heat in the house. Also had to boil drinking water and now hubby wants the big stock pot to make his dried-fig-jam so will need to filter that water into jubs...wonder if we HAVE jugs to put it into? I finished an interesting book set in 1759 that was a crime mystery - book 2 in a series - that was very good (THE CORPSE PLAYED DEAD by Georgina Clarke) and started skimming to refresh my memory a book I really enjoyed a few years ago - it is being reissued and will write a new review for it. I am looking forward to reading all four books to be read before the end of the month and LOVE being ahead in my reading.
My brother called last night. He will be moving from Leucadia to San Marcos. They are leaving an older historical house they have lived in over 20 years for a modern more open smaller home and finally believe it will really happen. They have a LOT to do. It was great talking to my brother last night. I should probably make a point to call at least once a month since we both have Skype and WhatsApp...hmm...
ANN: I read that Carl was going to "smoke a pork shoulder" and at first thought you mean...like a cigarette...then realize...silly me Your rainbow nails...does each one have a rainbow or is each nail a different color? I don't think you can eat "right" or "wrong" and choices about food are just that. Sometimes higher calorie or lower that is all. Your slaw sounds tasty!
JUNE: I, too, skim books. Especially the ones that are dual point of view when I am more invested in one narrator than in t he other!
BEE: I have met my soul mate! I, too, read a bit in the beginning then read the end. Mom used to be the same but most everybody I have ever talked to think me a heathen and warped because I don't start on page one and keep going straight through. I can count on one hand the books I have read without looking ahead! Thank you for the image of the jumble. I do wordbrain sometimes using an app...it isn't the same but similar.
AUDREY: Laura and Nora are lucky you have an extra room to stay in until their AC is fixed. I am interested in how your Sun Maid visit and dinner went. Your friend that reads ahead and I would get along well in the way we read books OH MY! I hate dropping stitches. My circular needles came in a special zip folder with all the sizes and many wires to attach to make various lengths of needles. I am glad the yarn shop owner was able to fix things for you!
LADONNA: What did you decide to eat at the wings restaurant?
SUSI: You sound busy. Hope you had time to spend lazing on the deck. Does the deck stay up year round?
PAM: I wish I was a planner like you are! What color did you have your nails done? Ann's are rainbow colors are yours, too?
OKAY...need to filter the water so hubby can cook his jam. Hope you all have a wonderful day!
BECKY: I found it interesting that some parts of my body that "hurt" feel better after I move a bit while others complain before during and after.

Thanks for starting us Ann. I usually trim the shoulder before cooking which helps a bit. Good morning June. Bee - I tend to do that about half way through a book unless I know the author well and have a good idea about what twists to expect. Glad they stayed Audrey. The dinner sounds fascinating! What a pain to have to boil water Cathy Today is the lobster clambake to celebrate Daria's birthday. I have some beautiful lemon boy and golden jubilee tomatoes and both purple and green basil so we will have tomato sandwiches for breakfast, watermelon for lunch and then the indulgence. I'll get back on track tomorrow.

Good morning all. Slept well and woke up with minimal pain. I'll take it as a good sign June I'm just not fond of pork like that or ribs. I can have ribs maybe once a year if that....Carl on the other hand could eat them daily! LOL to the reading. I also skim through books like that...why I just don't put it down and start another is beyond me. Bee I wish I could read like you...first and last chapter. I'm also going to be willing and aware Audrey I too had a friend that would do that with her books and like you it would drive me crazy as well. I hope the AC part can be ordered and fixed quickly. Nice that you let them stay the night. Cathy the color is called rainbow. All of them have sparkles in them that generate a different color. But they are all the same. Enjoy revisiting your books and nice that you will Skype with your brother. Wishing him a non complicated move. Waving and will be back later.

Bee, my girlfriend reads the same way and it drives me crazy. I have to read the pages in order and almost always must finish what I start. How come, Audrey? I betcha you never rebelled --- I did. LOL It does bother folks to no end when they find out I do that. They want to know how I can enjoy the book if I know the ending. VERY WELL! I used to think I had to finish a book. BUT THEN it dawned on me that my time is too valuable for such. Cathy, we can be reading twins. LOL Susi, sounds like a good time. Those veggies looked good. Rainbow nails, Ann? Take a pic I want to see. My DD used to do nail art, and she could come up with some wild suff. Me, I am a clear polish person and no one is touching my hands. LOL Usually the only pork I do is ribs or bacon, June. Still praying for you and R.

Good Morning all, Had fun last night. I ended up having a few drinks and had from the appetizer menu some fried fish nuggets. They weren't greasy at all but they were fried. The wings looked so good but they were too messy for me. The band was ok but not my kind of music. Hard rock/heavy metal. We did request some Leonard Skynyrd and they were able to play Simple Man. I'm skipping church this morning. Randy is playing golf with our son and then we are taking our dog to be groomed. After posting I'll have my second cup of coffee and take my walk. The temps have cooled a bit but not much. Will be an OP day. Ann, same on the book I'm reading. Randy also loves Ribs. I like them too but only occasionally. Your nails sound cute! June, hope your day is great! How did your plan to soak up nature go yesterday? Bee, I never look ahead in a book...I love surprises! I don't really even like to read too many reviews because some give too much away. Audrey, enjoy the meal! sounds interesting Cathy, I love modern technology for just those types of things..how wonderful that you and your brother can keep in touch this way. Hope he will love his new home. Susi, that lobster clam bake sounds so good! wish I could come

LaDonna, I never read reviews. I don't know those people reviewing. I pick books by a title that catches me, unless I have read the author before. And if a close friend recommends a book, I will usually read it, as they know me well. A book about a house will always grab me.
I am s bad about not liking surprises, that I won't open a wrapped gift. Many years ago at church we did a Secret Sister thing. On the day of the reveal, a Lady was heading toward me with a bag. I said to her, 'If it is wrapped, I can't take it.'
She said to me, 'I know. God told me.'
I am not sure I could have sat through a night of music that wasn't my kind. Proud of you.
Have a great day!

Interesting to read about your approaches to books. I use to feel that zi had to finish what I started. Then learned that I could put aside a a book that did not engage me. My dad use to read the last page of a book to see if he wanted to read it.
Sunday's goals Make some chicken breast in the crock pot. Figure out sides. Hope that my first watermelon of the year is juicy.
Audrey Hope that the impromptu sleepover was fun. Enjoy your final parkway event and dining experience. Wonder what inventive ways the chef will incorporate prunes into each course.
Ann That nail polish sounds sassy. πππ
Bee j Ha ha ha... love your spin on being in the right mind frame for healthy eating. Interesting story @ wrapped gifts.
Becky Hope that your day unfolds as you might want--being OP, having less knee pain, and escaping that heat.
Cathy You will have a busy, busy day in the kitchen. Hope that you can get all that work accomplished as easily as possible. Have a great OP day.
Mj Waving "hi!" Am betting that you will have posted while I am completing my personals. Hope that you had a great Sat. and that today you & Toots have nothing to do besides watch a race & savor a steak dinner (with a coupon!)
LaDonna Kudos for choosing a healthier option that you enjoyed. Never really liked hard rock/ heavy metal either. Glad that the band took your request!
Pam Hope that there is a blue dot in your track at the day's end.
Susi May your DGF's birthday celebration be full of laughter. Mmmm..... delicious start to the day!

Heading on out to Walmart to pick up a few odds and ends. Hopefully nothing will jump into my cart LOL. My fingernails are just a bunch of glitter....why it's called rainbow I haven't a clue LOL...but it makes me happy when I look down at them. Bee LOL to nobody touching your hands. I don't mind people touching my hands or feet or head. I know lots of people freak out at that. Carl on the other hand HATES his feet touched. He is amazed that I find a pedicure relaxing! Different strokes, I guess Funny how we all have a different approach to books. I've invested so much time into this that now I'm compelled to see how it ends. More than likely it will...just...end with no resolution involved. LaDonna I also give you a gold star for listening to hard rock/heavy metal. LOL to reading book reviews. Seems like the more 'hype' the less appealing the book is. Go figure June hoping that you watermelon is much better than the one I just picked up. It was just so so. Not as sweet as I like it. Well, I best get a move on. If I'm not back online...wishing AWF and all I haven't chatted with a wonderful OP Sunday!

Back from shopping. Now I'm going to kick back and relax. Tomorrow I go to the hospital for my EKG and blood work for my surgery on the 27th of the month. Seeing as I'm that 'mature age' I have to have both done LOL. Oh well...rules are rules Donna is going to come with us to get out of the house. After the tests, we'll all go for lunch and make our way back home. Enjoy the rest of this day, all! Going to shut down.

Susi, have fun at the lobster clam bake, such an "East Coast thing." One of our newspaper food writers was from Maine and she would have lobsters and other sea food specialties from the East shipped to Fresno for charity events every summer. I think the San Joaquin River Parkway does a similar event every other year in her honor. La Donna, glad you had a great time last night. The biggest problem I have with heavy metal is it is too loud to hear others talk. Ann, Nora's toe nails were each a different color of the rainbow. So fun. She enjoyed splashing me in the pool yesterday. They left at 9 this morning because she has a play date with a friend at the park but I gave an open invitation for her and her family to spend the evenings at our home until the AC is repaired. Bee, you are just wild in so many ways My friend who is trained to be a physical therapist will never get a massage because she does not like her body touched.
