Melon Salads: My sister makes them but I have never done so.
Oregano: we have wild oregano in the yard. I sometimes make it into a salad with onions, olive oil, lemon and olives Flowers: I have not put flowers into food but have always thought it might be fun to do so...having an edible flower garden might be interesting Picnics: I hate bugs...think the last picnic I can remember was one long ago when my sister and I took our children (now married adults) to a park and she brought sandwiches, beverages, etc.
Today I am looking forward to talking to children and grandchildren via Skype

JUDY: That pin loom looks like it would take time to complete a square...tiny? I have never made pepper jelly...might have to try some this year if we have hot peppers. My daughter makes hot pepper salsa with carrots...
CHERRY: Loved your box social memories...read about those long ago in "historical romances" where the guy wanted the girl and sometimes two men would bid on her box. Not that YOU are of that vintage but it is nice to think some traditions linger in more than a book.
BEVERLY: I remember Avon...think my aunt sold some. Was that the one that had tiny sample lipsticks in white containers?
PAM: Getting greens in is not easy sometimes...especially in summer....at least here.

I adore melon and I adore oregano.
I frequently have watermelon and feta salad during the summer.

Watermelon and feta salad sounds lovely. What else do you put in it reneinitaly ,? My melon salads tend to be more of a fruit salad. I'd like to try some that are more salad-like. Have not eaten anything that included flowers. Some of the recipes sound interesting. I have dried different kinds of herbs, including oregano. Haven't been on an actual picnic in years. I'm looking forward to my son coming today. He hasn't called, so far, telling me he has another funeral to do. Maybe this weekend will work as planned. Edited to add to Cathy's comment about box socials. I am probably somewhat close to that vintage, at least at the end of it. These box socials we had were in the 1940s, when I was in elementary school, out in the country.

I have never made a melon salad, other than fruit salad. DIL won a spot in a local magazine a couple of years ago with her watermelon recipes. I remember she brought me an example of her watermelon with feta & her home grown herbs, mint maybe? I think she also used some kind of vinegar? Anyway, she won the contest & got her pic with the salad in the mag. It tasted very good. Makes me want to get her recipe from her & try it.
I have never eaten flowers, though I have seen them as a relish.
Today, I am looking forward to relaxing & maybe seeing my GS later.

I've never made a savory salad with melons, but...I do like Tajin seasoning on fresh pineapple - I'd bet it would be good on melon as well. www.tajin.com/products/tajin-clasicoPenzys also now has a spicy fruit seasoning mix as well, but I still like the Tajin better Have heard of edible flowers, but have never used. They do look very pretty! Use dried oregano when called for in recipes and I know it's part of a mixed Italian blend seasoning I use often. Haven't gone on a picnic in a very long time! Cathy - the pin loom squares do take time. I think the loom I linked to was a 4" size. They do come (or can be homemade) in different sizes. Today - volunteer event with the dogs this afternoon.

I love CO rocky ford cantaloupes. It’s that season and will be enjoying them for snacks as well as side dishes. I’ve enjoyed them in salads with other melons. I will be enjoying my rocky fords.
I’ve never used flowers in food dishes. I’ve used oregano in cooking but rarely fresh. Picnics these days usually revolve around purchasing food available on site.
