This thread is for anyone that has been away from healthy eating, had a gain and is recommitting. We accept all forms of healthy eating here, whatever that means to you. We touch base daily for accountability and to encourage one another. This is a judgment free zone.
We all struggle to get the weight off and keep it off. Sometimes this is a challenge, but we never give up and that is the key. Regardless of our situation or where we are in reaching our goal, we count on talking to each other every day and are blessed to have one another as friends.
Our motto is persistence, not perfection.

Good Morning... I opened several windows last night...you may think I am crazy, but I can turn my whole A/C system off and it is still cold in here. I actually opened the windows to let heat in - lol - It is actually very pleasant this morning- outside temp is 69. I didn't get to the gym yesterday...my knee has been bothering me a lot. I think I will do the exercises the PT had me doing a year ago, and maybe go to a gentle yoga class this afternoon.
Oh Andi - that was a horrible trip...one bad thing after another! Glad you are there with the littles now...those hugs will make it all better.
OK...time for coffee

Good morning, ROs,
Well....I never got here yesterday, because we were CRAZY busy! We got hit for so many calls, that the stations around us were running the calls that we couldn't get to. I spent so much time on the computer getting all my run reports finished and posted, that I just didn't want to get on and start anything else!
Susie, so sorry that your knee was bothering you. I hate to sound like a pharmacist, but there is a prescription gel called Pennsaid, that is specifically for knee pain, caused by arthritis or other wear and tear. I have used it on my shoulder in the past, and it works, but patients who have used it for their knee flare-ups, have been really pleased. Just thought I would throw that out there. I hope you enjoy your day-of-no-plans! I am thinking I might mow the dogs' yard, but then spend the rest of the day up by the pool. I need to get more yard work done, but it is going to be so darn hot here, and I'm a little tired from the marathon at work yesterday...HA! Janet, I also feel bad about switching stylists in the same salon! I hope you enjoy your day today. Lora, how wonderful that there are craftsmen that can do those things, to help us all stay connected to the past, and help us appreciate just how it was done, and how people lived. I hope you have a nice day today, doing whatever you end up getting in to!
Andi, geez! What a crazy day! I am glad you made it safely and I sure hope your bag catches up to you. Friday was a rough travel day all over the country, it seems. I laughed out loud about the poop change and the trashed house! Your DD will be surprised when she gets home, HA!
Well, I am going to run to the store for a couple of things for the week, maybe swing by the fruit/veggie stand on my way back home, and then, hopefully get the backyard mowed real quick, and get a little pool time in. I could do some weeding up there, if I feel like it! I work tomorrow, but since my doctor is off, I won't be super busy, just lots of phone calls and paperwork catch up. I will be back later, but meanwhile, I am hoping for everyone to have a peaceful, enjoyable Sunday, and I am waving to all who follow!

Oh darn... I guess I lost my post...thanks robinmd.... I have a cream that was prescribed awhile back (VOLTAREN) - sounds like the one you are talking about. I remember it was expensive. DH uses it often. I hope that by starting my PT knee exercises I did a year ago, I can get back to where I was. I have stopped taking those long walks with the neighborhood walking group and will just be doing my regular gym classes and riding the bike at the clubhouse gym.

Good evening all. Only 5:30 here but later in the east. My suitcase did arrive last night at 10:30 but I was already asleep. DD brought it in the house and I was so happy to see it when I got up this morning!!! I slept pretty well and although I still have to call Delta to get reimbursed for the taxi and the baggage charge, I am mostly putting the trip our here behind me. Thanks for the words of sympathy, everyone, and yes, being with DD and the DGKs make it all worthwhile. My trip home is generally uneventful - it's the one going west that I have a lot of problems with, so I should get home fine Tuesday afternoon. I really hope that's the case because I have a huge merger meeting Wednesday that I absolutely can't miss and I'd like not to feel frazzled.
My food unfortunately has gone off the rails here. I'm surrounded by so much snack stuff, meals at irregular hours, and no down time for cooking, that at some point I kind of give up. Plus today is the 2 year old's birthday and we already had the ice cream, w ill have cake later. Luckily the cake isn't chocolate...
Hot here but the dryness makes it so bearable, especially in the morning before it heats up, and it's always pleasant in the shade. So different from back home. We went to the fabulous new rec center here which has an amazing indoor pool setup for kids (and adults), including a "lazy river" and a great baby pool. I really enjoyed myself, plus since it's indoors, no issues with sunburn, sunscreen, etc.
Back home now for the evening. Tomorrow DD has some work to do plus we're taking the 2 year old for her pediatrician visit - I was here exactly 2 years ago when she was born and the first pediatric visit so this is extra fun. And then Tuesday morning I leave. Quicker trip than usual because of the flight delay. I did enjoy staying in the Radisson, however. Ha.
Hope everyone had a good weekend. RobinMD, sorry yesterday was so intense and exhausting and I hope you got some good pool time today. Susie, sorry about the doggone knees! I also love opening windows when I can. The season for that always seems way too short.

Hi again, Susie, I like Voltaren gel too...this is different, and seems to work for knees especially well. It has a penetrating agent in it that helps it get into the joint, somehow. Most meds now are so expensive, that looking on line at drug company websites, or the specific medication website, often have big money saving coupons. We have a pharmacy here that sells the gel for $10. Medication companies are realizing that insurance companies aren't paying (especially newer meds), that they bypass insurance by setting up their own insurance coverage, and some meds are available much cheaper. The drug reps at our office are really helpful, with trying to get medications to patients much cheaper. Andi, I'm so glad you got your bag. How great that you are there to share the birthday! Sometimes, worrying about what you eat can interfere with these special occasions, so I hope you will be able to give yourself a little slack about it for now....these are times so precious (I know you know this, I'm just gabbing), that you hate to let worries about being careful what you eat, overshadow the opportunity to share these moments. But I get it, we don't want to make an excuse for every occasion! We are having a massive thunderstorm right now, with constant thunder and huge cracks of lightening! I can barely move, with the dogs glued to me. My feet are pinned to the floor by Cyrus, and everyone else is as close to him as they can get! I did get the dogs' yard mowed and was going to head up to the pool, but my YDD came home and decided today was a good day to let me know all the ways in which I have made her life so bad.... apparently, she has little memory of the silly, happy, fun times that I seem to recall, and I have always wondered why she is always so angry (although she IS a millennial...) and bitchy, but now I guess it turns out to be my fault. So I went back out and mowed some more, while I cried my eyes out. Then I figured I would do some push mowing, and got a lot done. I am glad that I won't have quite as much to do on my day off Tuesday! I was happy to get a text from my nephew and his new wife, who wanted to come hang out with me by the pool. They are farmers, and she said that she was craving some pool time, in the heat today! It was nice to have my comical, happy nephew to come over and turn things around....we had a great visit, and then the storm clouds started getting ominous, so we packed it up, but it really helped me get out of the funk that I was in. Sorry to vent. I am hoping tomorrow will be a fairly nice day at work. It will be a good distraction from the awful things I heard and felt today. I sure hope everyone had a good weekend, and a good start to your week tomorrow. I'll be back! Waving to all, RobinMD
