I’m not planning on taters today but we had some roasted yesterday. I can’t quit them.
I just finished the bike and some stretches and it feels good. I went to Kroger and CVS earlier, so this afternoon will be some house cleaning. Nothing exciting. I will be making the chickpea and spinach pancakes tonight. We have leftovers in case they don’t turn out.
Have a good day, All.

Thanks for the spudtacular start, Chele. Thinking about having a purple sweet potato for dinner, along with tofu and veggies. Since tonight is the annual master gardener ice cream social, that will be a nice dinner to have before digging into my non-dairy Cherry Garcia at the event. Sounds like you got a jump on the day by having yours taters roasted yesterday. Good luck with your new recipe. Hope it turns out well.
Becky, I did a 35 minute swim this morning and got zero intensity minutes. Apparently my heart rate didn't get above 108. I ended up with over 400 last week, so I was kind of disappointed. Congrats on 2 new babies. Is this a boy or a girl?
What a unique place to store magazines, Linda! I'll bet the cucumber sandwiches were a nice cool treat in your hot weather. And they are really healthy. Will Micki eat them?
Liz, where are you working today? Has the pain lessened any? Do I remember your having a couple of medical appointments this week? How goes the family drama?
Is DS back yet, Kathy? Are you expecting just the normal daily storms for today?
The phone guy just arrived to take care of the tree sitting on the phone line and Dale is out with him. Towels are in the dryer, garden beds are watered. I have everything just about ready to take the plants to the fairgrounds on Thursday. It occurred to me this morning that I will have to overwater them before I leave them there because the building is not climate controlled, so they will be overly warm while they are there. I will be back on Monday helping to set up the exhibit and will be working the fair on Tuesday and the following Sunday, so I just have to remember to take extra water so they won't go into shock with water they aren't used to. The aloe gets distilled water and the others are watered with the non-treated water from the outside faucets. Fingers crossed they stay alive this year, unlike last year.

Becky, I missed new babies...?
Our aloe vera as long as it gets regular water grows well outside. The Hester aloe with ling, thin green “leaves” and long stalks of pink flowers is a regular landscape plant here.
Potatoes are diet ok, but what we do to them causes the trouble! I have learned to like them plain boiled or baked. I have some little ones to microwave with a light coating of olive oil and salt this week.
Micki is not a fan of cucumbers or fruit. He lkes vegetables. Curried salad is a no no for him, but we enjoyed it. Funny how you know different barks.Micki has a someone is coming up to the house frantic bark. He sounds vicious. He would just get underfoot wanting attention, but people do not know that. He has another excited protection bark when he hears the UPS truck.
Goning back up to 115 by Wed and down again...hope this is the last nasty heat and we can just be normal dry 105, which is not nice but way better. I went outside around sunset last night and thought it felt nice...it was 94! It still beats shoveling snow and walking on ice or into slush, and buying new coats and boots.
The hummingbirds have been hitting the feeder hard except in hottest part of the day when all the birds disappear. They are funny when the feeder gets low...yapping at us through the kitchen window.
I may go get a new canvas today. Dsil is on my case to do a painting of her daughter's dog. I do not do well with people's expectations. I tend to paint from inspiration. Quite a few paintings have not succeeded. I did one two weeks ago of a friend's dog that died. She had four abused rescues she slowly civilized. This one was the special cuddler she loved most. She was surprised and really liked it. It is like portrait paintings..it is a dog, but has to be THE dog..not easy. And people are funny about liking portraits as they see things differently. I am crap at people.

Linda, I would imagine 10° makes a big difference. I know those different barks. I could hear Teddy’s bark at the groomer’s before I even saw him. I love curried food. Have you ever had curried fish? It has thin slices of apple and tomatoes in it.
Curried Fish Casserole. Makes 4 servings. 1 TB Vegetable oil 1 ½ c. Sliced onion 1-2 tsp curry powder 1 lb unthawed frozen fish fillets (cod or halibut work well) 1 large apple, cored and thinly sliced (I use whatever is on hand but Granny Smith is the best) 1 can (8 ¼ oz) tomatoes, drained (the recipe says drained but I like the juice if I am going to serve with rice) ½ tsp salt 1/8 tsp pepper Chopped fresh parsley
1. Heat oil in large, nonstick skillet with tight fitting cover and sauté onions until soft, about 5 minutes. Add curry powder. Cook, stirring 5 minutes longer. 2. Cut frozen fillets crosswise into 1” strips. Arrange fish in bottom of skillet. Place onions on top of fish then top with apples and tomatoes. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. 3. Cook over medium heat, covered, for 10 minutes.
Sprinkle with chopped parsley before serving.
Karen, have fun at your get together tonight.

Thanks for the start Chele. No spuds today but will probably split a sweet tater with Kenneth tomorrow night. You have had a busy day.
Karen That happens from time to time on my Garmin.I did a 45 min workout on the recumbent bike this morning and it only gave me 25 minutes intensity min but 10 were at vigorous intensity so it counted that double.Between HEB and Walmart I made up for the lost intensity minutes. It is frustrating and I also got over 450 min last week.It is also irritating the skin on my wrist.I have been thinking about getting a different kind of activity tracker because of that for my birthday but I haven't found any with good enough reviews to buy yet.The newest calf is also a boy.The cattle had been getting into areas they weren't supposed to so Kenneth had to fix fences before we could leave for town tomorrow. For a couple of days our Dish receiver wasn't so bad but I have been watching shows DVR'd yesterday and it's so hard to watch so I'm definitely keeping the Friday appointment.Enjoy your non dairy B&J at the ice cream social.
Linda The 2 babies Karen was mentioning was 2 newborn calves so not so little.
It's already 100 and very humid here.

Chele, thanks for the spudsy start. I can't quit them either. How did the pancakes come out?
Karen, DS got back last night, but I haven't heard from her yet. She said she might take a recovery day today. We had a nice shower today without much lightning, so just the normal summer weather. Is it a long drive to the fair?
Linda, I use plain Greek yogurt and seasonings on my baked potatoes and don't miss the butter or sour cream. 115 is just way too hot. Hope it cools off soon even if it's still above 100.
Becky, I bet the new calves are cute.
Liz, hope your Monday wasn't too crazy.
