Hey, Karen, how was the soirée? Rootology should be delivered today.
Waving to the rest of the crew.
Busy with insurance issues this morning. Ugh! After phone calls and website exploring, I had to make a trip to the post office with copies of documents HRA company lost. The health insurance company changed prescription home delivery company and now I have to make sure all prescriptions have transferred over.Ugh! I needed my workout after that. I am making another batch of tomato sauce and will have mushroom ravioli tonight with steamed carrots.

Insurance is such a greedy pain and oeople wonder why medicare for all sounds good...or at least only one main source to fight with. It looks problematic to me as described now though.
Finally saw women's center nurse practitioner as I have been getting increasingly. miserable and not wanting more antibiotics. They said the urine lit up uti immediately, and the culture will tell them if they chose the right antibiotic, and that after trying Replens I got a yeast infection. Two meds and a sample moisturizer they recommend that you buy online. Revaree.
So if you are overweight, menopausal and your sugar is high, you get recurring uti issues. Sugar feeds it. Well last month dr said it was over 100, knock off the sweets or I would get diabetes. Been reducing that and will try harder. white carbs too. So I bought a copy of diabetic living mag. looking for good recipes.
Meanwhile yogurt, kefir, etc still trying to get the gut back from the three antibiotics in April and May.
Good side, maybe the hives will go away.Dermatologist said most women with long term hives have a uti! Culture was negative in early June though ...but then I went on a dessert , candy carb binge for a month!
Boy, the wages of sin sure come fast when you get old!

I hear you on the white flour/sugar binge issue, Linda. I have made a concerted effort to not buy sweets and bagels the past couple of weeks and have had some white knuckle moments when the cravings hit. You’re not kidding about the wages of sin catching up with one in the later years. I hope the meds work fast.

Thanks for the start, Chele. Fingers crossed that Rootology will be the answer for you. Sorry about all the insurance mess. I hope you now have it all straightened out. I feel sorry for peple who don't have the ability to deal with these complicated situations. They are pretty much at the mercy of the insurance companies, and that's not a good place to be. Congrats on the added benefit of working out. Is this your second batch of sauce? Are you freezing most of it? Enjoy the ravioli. I haven't steamed carrots in a while. Good idea! It was a nice little get together, typically the smallest meeting of the year and this was no exception. There were storms around (we saw some really impressive lightning in the distance) and that cooled the temperatures some and brought in the clouds, which also helped. The greenhouse policies were approved, so that's off my plate. The guy on the committee who was causing the controversy had to make what amounted to a minority statement but still voted for approval. That was a lot of work. Like Kathy, I was curious about how the pancakes were.
Linda, OMG on the continuing UTI saga. Does the NP think the Replens was the culprit? Good luck with the Revaree. How far over 100 was your blood sugar last month and was it a fasting level? Mine was 93 when I had it tested in June, but that was after eating breakfast, so not fasting. Sugar definitely feeds it. You're hopefully drinking lots of fluids due to the heat anyway, but are you drinking even more to keep your urinary system flushed out? I've had a lot more processed sugar in the last couple of days and I'm definitely feeling it. So, back on the wagon for me as well. What about switching to fruits for dessert? Wasn't it Bette Davis who said, "old age ain't for sissies"? Spot on! I'm rather skeptical of Medicare for All, but you're right that it would be single payor. I'm trying to figure out how it would be much different from the system they use in Canada, which isn't great from what I've read. Drug companies need to be better regulated, but turning that over to a dysfunctional Congress doesn't sound like thebest idea either. Did you get your canvas yesterday? There was an article in yesterday's NY Times about the oppressive heat in your part of AZ and how construction crews are working in the night instead of the day, trails are staying open later to accommodate evening hikers, and law care companies showing up around 4 am, which I think is a no-no in your neighborhood.
How's your weather today, Kathy? I watched a little of the Weather Channel at AF and it looked like you might be in for a bit more than the usual summer stuff this week. We have 60% change on Thursday and I hope it comes through because we really need it. I don't blame DS for taking a recovery day. The older I get, the more energy it takes to travel.
Becky, they had something on our a.m. news about the WW kids' app controversy. It was short and I couldn't determine if they think 8 is too young or if it was basically a commercial for the app. I'm still not getting appropriate step credit on the Garmin. I have been down and upstairs twice and also had to walk up a steep hill after I picked elderberries but only have credit for 1 flight. I did get intensity minutes credit at AF today, so I'm now sitting at 53 for the week. The non-dairy B&J was good and I wasn't the only one who ate it. I disposed of the empty carton before I left the meeting. Is today another hot and humid day for you? How are the knees? My body battery is at 36 and heading down. That's about how I feel. How are the new boys today? How old do they have to be before Kenneth can take them to auction?
Do I remember your having a vascular appointment today and your pre-ops tommorrow, Liz? What's your work schedule this week?
I did the usual workout and grocery trips this morning. I have been having difficulty getting Arya's organic grass fed beef at Aldi for several weeks and they had it today, so I'm a couple of weeks ahead on that, so we'll be good for the next batch. I found some local tomatoes at Food City (local chain) and may not need to stop at Publix this week unless they have some good things in the ad tomorrow. I have minutes to do from last night's meeting and may do a little work on the newsletter if I have the energy. One of the other master gardeners uses Linux and some of the open source software and recommended I check around to see if I can find some better info on the Linux side for the desktop publishing software. Sounds like a good suggestion because I'm not finding much on the Windows side.

112 predicted thus afternoon, 114 tomorrow then relief which us 107 here. Dad was in construction..got up at three and started work at 4:30 in summer. In my city lawn guys can start at five. So can roofers. AN AC guy died in an attic two weeks ago....and they know how to deal with heat.
The air handlers are in attics with compressor outside on ground here or on the roof.Attic under a concrete tile roof is not a good place in summer.
My glucose non fasting was 90 in May but over 100 , like 115 maybe? in July when I was being bad..,endo dr said what the heck did you eat before that test?
I cut back a lot then and gave lost three and a half pounds since. Yes, definitely switching to berries with a squirt of reddy whip for dessert if at all. The uti is causing nausea and the Kefkex will too, so not eating much should not be hard.

Forgot to answer you, Karen. Yes, it is my second to tomato sauce batch and I have frozen all but what I need tonight. I am glad it was a good meeting and get together and you and a few others enjoyed the B&J.

Thanks for the start Chele. So true on the quote.Ugh on insurance issues.
Linda Sorry about the uti.You have had such a tough time.It is important to stay away from sweets and white carbs. When I had diabetes type 2 I wish someone had told me to limit my carbs.I did get off all sweets during that time and rarely have them now and it's what has kept me off Metformin the last few years.I hope you feel better soon.
Karen I find with the Garmin it won't give me any steps even while house walking then suddenly it jumps and gives me 100 steps. The band irritates my wrist so since my birthday is coming up Saturday I decided to go back to Fitbit and ordered the Inspire HR.I saw some bad reviews on it but I also saw some good reviews.I do think at least on Amazon it has a little higher rating than Garmin does.It has been very humid but it just now hit 100 since it's been cloudy. They said normally 8/20 is the last triple digit day but we will see. They have to weigh enough to get enough money per pound to get anything out of them.Probably around 9 months old or so I'm not sure.
Linda Congrats on your loss.I like blueberries with fat free plain Greek yogurt for a dessert but Redi Whip is also good on them.

Linda At my highest weight I did have type 2 diabetes.By losing weight and exercise I was able to get off Metformin and the last time I had my A1C checked it was either 5.6 or 5.8 and I started out with an A1C of over 7.No doctor told me to limit my carbs though and I don't know why.I knew to limit my sweets because my mom had pre-diabetes.

Chele, thanks for the start and the Yogi Berra quotes. Hope you got all the insurance stuff straightened out. It's just gotten so difficult to deal with. DM just had a big hassle where they didn't send a charge through Medicare and her insurance company sent her a bigger than expected bill. Linda, sorry you've been dealing with so many issues and hope the meds give you some relief soon. I can see why the workers would come so early there. I've seen roofers here start around sunrise, but not in the dark. They're trying to beat the afternoon storms as much as the heat. Karen, we had a quick shower today, but otherwise, it's just been steamy out there. I did hear something about a system coming through, but haven't heard the weather yet today. At least I'm saving a bit on water bills. Are you thinking about installing Linux on your laptop? Becky, too bad the doctors weren't more helpful with proper diet. You do a great job of staying on track.
Liz, how's the telecommuting going?

DSIL is way overweight and type two. Her son got type one when he had the flu...same gene that causes celiac flips that switch.
In summer here it is light at 4:30! goes on until 8:30...any wonder we do not want daylight savings change and do not do it here?

Thanks for the recipe, Chele. I might be able to modify the pancakes by usin something in place of the yogurt. How was dinner?
Becky, I wish the band on the Garmin was a little larger, but I'm happy that I don't seem to be allergic to it. Did you order the Inspire HR from Amazon already? The Fitbit website has it for $20 off right now on their back to school sale. I got an email from them about it either yesterday or today. I like that I can have both my GPS watch, which I use for swimming, kayaking, and will use for hiking, on the same account as my fitness tracker with them both being Garmins. So everything is available in 1 place. Good luck on today being the last triple digit day. Yes, we'll see. You'll have the new guys for a while from your estimate. I hope when you can take them to auction that they will bring a good price. Doctors know very little about nutrition. It's a subject that hasn't been more than a passing comment in med schools. Someone once said that most doctors' nutritional knowledge amounts to what the read in the tabloids waiting at the supermarket checkout. Sad....
How awful on the AC guy who died, Linda. Yes, they do know how to function in the heat. DB was in that line of work and he had some problems but heat wasn't one of them. What the heck did you eat before the test in July? Must have been good! Congrats on the 3.5 lb loss from cutting back. I hope dealing with the keflex won't be too bad. I usually have a peach for dessert this time of year and have my berries for breakfast. I also got a pineapple and cherries at Aldi today. I am trying to up my fruit intake so I don't crave other sugary treats. Dale still has them around the house, so I just have to avoid them.

Karen Yes I already ordered the Inspire HR and it was like $20 cheaper also. From what I see most Fitbits except the Charge 3 have a discount on them at different stores.I also ordered a magnetic band so it's easier to get on and off.It will be here by tomorrow evening and if I ordered from Fitbit it would take at least a week. This will be my early bday gift to me.
