I've never heard of Paczi. Here in central PA We call it Fastnacht day. They are supposed to be donuts made from potatoes. But most of us just get glazed donuts.
I must admit I did have a donut.

I'm IN. Happy Mardi Gras to all! Fat Tuesday, Shrove Tuesday, Paczki Day, Pancake Day... sooo many ways to overindulge before Lent begins (which in the Old Days - like when I was young - meant fasting and deprivation and suchlike).

Our trainers' e-mail flurry this morning has me jonesing for a paczki but there aren't any authentic Polish bakeries nearby (that may be a GOOD thing!). Lunch may be banana pancakes with almond butter, though... must contemplate whether I want to open That Can of Worms (or jar of almond butter, as the case may be).

The calendar is rushing ahead. Thanks for the reminder of all the celebrations. Sitting here having my eyes checked this morning. Keeping focused since the scale this morning is as low as it's been for awhile. Yay! I'll WI Thursday or Friday since this eye appointment made me miss my usual Tuesday meeting. Still tracking, journaling my gratitude, walking lots of steps around the medical center, getting in my liquids, and smiling. Have a great day everyone.

Good afternoon all. No celebrating for me today either.I have had my share of fat Tuesday's.LOL.I need to stay consistent this week.I seem to be having a sodium and inflammation bloat. linda72,There are so many sources for strength training you wouldn't need to hire a trainer unless your gym offers free sessions.Basically the circuit training with Curves are mostly strength with the exclusion of the stretching cage.I do need to start on some free weights also though so thanks for the reminder. I don't know about you other Texans but I'm ready for some cooler air.My allergies are kicking my butt. Hope everyone is having a great day!

Perhaps Fat Tuesday should be followed by Weigh-In Wednesday!
No doughnuts or other celebration for me. I didn’t even remember Fat Tuesday until I got to this thread. What a concept, rewarding self-deprivation BEFORE it occurs! Seriously, I don’t do Lent, so don’t feel any need or entitlement for the pre-Lent partying.
Lovely weather here this week (but weekend storm is said to be approaching); but it is COLD by our standards.

Thank you to all for the recommendations on strength training. I've been looking at some websites and books mentioned. And, neen I learned that my gym does offer Body Pump and I'm going to try one of their classes on Friday! There is a lot of information out there and it appears I don't have to go crazy to see some results. I'm pumped to try some of these things! (did you catch my lame joke!)

LOL linda72, I caught it, I'm smart like that....and borntexan, you made me laugh, too; also a lifetime of fat Tuesdays in these 60+ years. Lovely day and ready to crash. I'll run WI before I head to Mass General tomorrow. 100gone I am pondering my schedule; definitely ready to get somewhere besides MGH in Boston!

I can imagine DebDoesWW.When I walked it was 80 degrees with 100% humidity.Thank goodness it's supposed to be 20 degrees cooler by morning.

Finally checking in and guilty, guilty, guilty! I LOVE FAT TUESDAY... this year I made it FAT Monday & Tuesday!! I know it's a terrible thing to do but February was such a sucky headache-filled month I just totally caved. Went to a Fat Tuesday gathering of friends today and it is what it is! But... I did it mindfully and knowing I'd have to pay the piper! Fried chicken, donut(s), chocolate-covered pretzels and strawberries, cake... Tomorrow is a new day and hopefully all of this is out of my system! (NOT planning on a March weigh-in this week! LOL) I love the Pacszi donuts but (probably fortunately) there are no local bakeries close by! Growing up we made a Portuguese version--Malasadas! snapguide.com/guides/make-homemade-malasadas-portuguese-doughnuts/ I didn't make them this year! linda72 Looks like you got some good info on strength training. I take pool and land classes at my gym. Some of the pool aerobic classes incorporate water weights as well for part of the class (my favorite one adds some water pilate moves!) My land class is aerobic, step, weights, pulleys---a nice variety of activities. But I learned the most in the special 8-week (2x a week) work with a personal trainer. I have a recommended routine that I try to do 2x a week on my own now. It really has helped with toning! When I can't get to the gym I've done some routines at home. On Demand xfinity has some great 10 minute programs that are easy to fit in during the day. Good luck and have fun! Malasadas are the best! You can find them in New England and Hawaii quite easily !
