Just listened to the 11am update and they really don't know where Dorian is going at this point. It's a little to the east of the entire cone that they forecast yesterday, so it looks like PR is getting a break and it's impacting the Virgin Islands and Anguilla more than PR. Have I mentioned lately that I hate this time of year?

Have fun at the museum, Linda.
Kathy, I don’t blame you. I am glad tornado season is at an end.

WOW, Chele, you were up early this morning! Couldn't sleep? Is Iggy still in Louisville? Have you heard how things are going with Baby Emma? That was a good idea to send the blanket with her scent so the dogs could get used to her. I know they will enjoy anything you cook for them. How far along is the other DN? How does Iggy feel about BIL moving closer? The Daytonian did win her prize on TPIR. She should have a nice, new back yard ensemble with furniture and a kitchen island with a big, fancy grill sitting at her house by now. Linda, how are you feeling? Is the new antibiotic helping? How was the museum? That blue-green algae can be really serious. There were 3 dogs in NC who died from swimming in that water just a few weeks back, all from the same family. One of the reasons they take our lake level down every year is to avoid that. I don't think I have ever seen any algae on our lake in the 11 years we have owned here. The water temperature fluctuates (was actually a bit chilly today, probably in the 70s) from the inflow of water from mountain streams, so I think that may keep it from growing. Good thing to get those dying or dead computers out of the house. I just got a notice this morning about upcoming hazardous waste disposal dates here that I will add to the master gardener newsletter for September. I don't blame you for hating this time of year, Kathy. In addition to the potential damage, it's just so unpredictable. Hopefully by the weekend they will have a better idea what you might be expecting. One of the models (there are so many) even looks like it may make landfall close to DB/DSIL. That would be a new experience for them. I hope PR gets spared this time. I heard yesterday that 30% of houses all over the island are still using the FEMA issued tarps to cover their roofs to keep the rain out. Becky, are you still in the 90s for today? I hadn't heard about fires in Mexico. What have I missed? You're also geting dust from the Sahara? Is that normal? Did you and Kenneth have running around to do? We got another half inch of rain overnight. I didn't think we were supposed to get that much. My body battery was at 66 when I woke up this morning, so I don't know if I'm having an intermittent problem or if I was that tired and just didn't know it. Stress level is also back in normal range today. When we built the house, we had an outlet installed on either side of the bed with one plug and 2 USB outlets. It has come in handy many times, especially if we have several things needing recharged at the same time. What time is the surgery tomorrow, Liz? Do you have all your pre-planning done? Is it Anguilla where your DN takes his classes? If they get hit by Dorian, it's probably good that he's not there right now. We have a pleasant day here with temps around 80 and a breeze. Dale needed to mow, so he did that first thing and I went swimming around 11. I saw 3 turtles sitting on a log in the lake when I went down. I also got nibbled by several fish while I was swimming to the point that it was a bit annoying. I usually don't have that when I get in the lake early. Guess the fish don't get up that early. Attendance at the fair last night was a bit sparse, but I did get a change to talk to several folks about herbs, gardening, and plants in general. There was supposed to be another gardener with me, but she arrived at Noon to finish setting up and kind of forgot to bring something to eat. The area was hotter than hades and she almost passed out, so she ate a snack and I sent her home. I entered a Dr. Who Rose Tyler Boomtown scarf in the crochet scarves category and it took 1st place. My zucchini bread and the holy basil in my avatar both took 2nd place in their respective categories. I told Dale to remind me not to bother submitting any photography entries next year. As he said, you can't compete with Photoshop. I don't go back until Sunday afternoon and will be working outdoors then, so I won't have to sweat to death in the building like I did last night.

Thanks for the start Chele.
Kathy I can see how you would hate this time of year.I hope it veers away from you.
Karen It has been hovering between 95-96 this afternoon and of course very humid. There isn't breezy like yesterday but a possibility of a rain shower between 4-8.Kenneth said it showered around 11:00 but I slept right through it.We had to go grocery shopping and were finally able to afford to fill up our propane tank so I can start cooking eggs on the stove again instead of in the electric skillet on the counter.I have a USB charger in the kitchen with 4 ports but the charger for the Inspire is so darn short.I'm glad the Garmin seems to be working again.Tomorrow we may both get haircuts.I know Kenneth will but if my stylist isn't there(we go to Great Clips and they don't take appointments)I may wait until Saturday when I know she is there. Also need to get a few things at Walmart tomorrow.
Liz Prayers and positive vibes for your surgery tomorrow.

Congrats on the ribbons at the fair, Karen.
Fingers crossed for Florida.
Thinking and sending good vibes to Liz for tomorrow.
I think the antibiotic is helping.
Sahara dust? I know we get dust from storms in the Gobi in Asia...jet stream, which us why you hate to hear nuclear tests in Asia.
Spent the morning on the computer looking up people who used to work for Tempe or were in council because we have 64 named photos from old files but no background.
Then went to Sprouts.

Chele, thanks for the very early start. Well, no luck on the 5pm advisory. They're saying this would be the worst storm to ever hit Orlando if it stays on this track.
Karen, I'm hoping there's better news on Dorian by the weekend. DM wanted some supplies, so we braved Publix and it was a zoo. We had to park way out and then there were no carts in the store. They were already out of gallons of water, so we got packs of the 16 oz bottles. I have several gallon jugs here, so we should have enough. Once they announce a hurricane watch, it's going to be insane in the stores. I'm guessing they will have to do some large evacuations on the coast too. That's going to be a tough one to call with such a large cone of uncertainty. The local news hasn't even mentioned what happens if it crosses FL and goes into the Gulf. I hope it doesn't affect your DB/DSIL.
Sounds like a nice day there. I saw some turtles in the pond here and watched a great white heron catch a small fish. The fish nibble in the springs around here and I don't like it either. You must've looked tasty. Congrats on the 1st and 2nd places! Very cool that the Dr Who scarf won. Seems like they should have separate categories for untouched and photoshopped photos.
Becky, thanks, I'm hoping it veers away too. We get the Sahara dust too sometimes. I didn't realize there were fires going in Mexico, but I could see how those would affect TX.
Liz, hope all goes well tomorrow and you have a quick recovery.
Linda, glad the antibiotic is helping. Hoping for the best for FL too.

Becky, I hope your favorite stylist is working tomorrow so you can go ahead and get your hair cut a couple days early. Congrats on the full propane tank. I know the eggs taste better with gas. We cooked on electric in the other house but I like my gas range so much better.
Hope your right on the Cipro, Linda. It's good that you have an option for being able to match names with picture faces. We have a lot of family photos and. with the older generation gone, we have no idea whether they are relatives, friends, or random strangers. Wish we had a Sprouts and hope you were successful there.
Kathy, OH NO!!! I hope Dorian goes out into the Atlantic like one of the models is predicting. Stay safe! Does DM have a generator? If the coast has to be evac'd, I would guess that includes the NSB crew. If so, will they also be at DM's? The fish nibbles can be annoying. I must have come through a school of them at one point because it kept happening. Dale said sometimes he comes nose to nose with them and they look startled. Our fair just started a separate category for B&W photos, so I don't think they are ready to acknowledge the existence of touch-ups and enhancements. A couple of years ago, they started a "I took it with my cell phone" category, but I think even some of those have been photoshopped. That's why there's no need to bother next year. I was really excited about the Dr. Who scarf. I need to get a photo of it because it's tacked up on the wall in the exhibit hall.
I heard from Liz. Her surgery almost got canceled for lack of signoff from the hematologist. She got that squared away in good order. She has to be at the hospital by 8:15 and surgery is scheduled for 11:15. Of course, we all know how rarely they start on time. She asked Gary to text me when she is in recovery, so I'll let y'all know when I hear something. She appreciates all the good wishes.
