Welcome to the CLUTTERBUSTERS thread. We are a daily thread, Monday thru Friday, and we have a combined weekend edition Saturday and Sunday. We welcome new members and are a friendly, helpful and supportive group.
Our purpose is for support and sharing of tips and strategies in dealing with weight and clutter issues in our lives. Many feel that the two are often tied together. So, we will lend a caring ear, and hopefully give and learn tips to help all of us.
We want to remove at least 5 items or spend still least 15 minutes clutter busting today!
Remember, it didn't pile up in one day so it isn't going away in a day either. One organizer says: you don't have to stop everything to get organized, you just have to start somewhere.

Good morning,
Dottie - glad to hear it was an easy repair for your stove. I bought a 6qt instant pot and I’m going to be learning how to use it this year. My crockpot will be going out with the trash tomorrow. It wasn’t working all that well, so out it goes. One of my coworkers has one and loves it. She uses the pressure cooker setting a lot. I might actually use it this weekend. I’ve been craving cabbage rolls so I might make the unstuffed cabbage roll recipe.
Ruth- glad you had a nice visit with Carol and her family. Chemo does take its toll on a body and she has been through a lot.
My foot feels a bit better. I’ve been doing stretching exercises that are designed for plantar fasciitis. Seems to be helping. I am going to try the compression socks today to see what they feel like.
Apparently my boss had a bit of a meltdown before I got in yesterday. She asked the other girls what she should do with the young man. She said he doesn’t listen to her and that’s bothering her. They gave her 2 good suggestions, but she said no to both and didn’t give a good reason. Glad I wasn’t there, I might have just said she should do what she usually does, get rid of him.
Dreary day outside, very overcast. It’s supposed to get sunny in the afternoon. I certainly hope so. While I like the cooler temps, I don’t enjoy days without sunshine.
Enjoy your day

Good afternoon all. Mara is upstairs (supposed to be going to sleep) and DH & Maggie are out for their run. I’m waiting on Mara to go to sleep so I can go up and work in the other bedroom for a while. One end is better, now I want to work on the bad craft end.
Joy, I’ll bet it is very hard to watch your boss be wishy-washy with that young man. She is setting a really bad precedent with letting him get away with things like this. Doesn’t look good for her either, but maybe she doesn’t realize that. Or she’s been told she can’t fire him but needs to do something else.
Foot problems are no fun. I’m having plantar fasciitis in my left foot off and on. Rolling a frozen plastic full water bottle under it is good in multiple ways. A trick one of the PT’s who worked with our athletes taught me years ago. Ice plus exercise all in one!
Painter is coming tomorrow morning at 8:30 to do last touch up in our bathroom. The edge of the wall next to the molding for the toilet room has a white stripe from top to bottom. We could have touched it up, but not nearly as well or as quickly as he can. Stan will have to bring that can of paint back upstairs. Will be nice to have that done. The floor feels so much better and I’m happy to be done with that. Now I need to start weeding out clothing and bringing back down some of my fall/winter stuff. Will leave the Hawaii clothing in the closet upstairs for now. Can’t wear most of it right now anyway, too tight! 😢🤬😢
Meeting DS at dinnertime tonight to return Mara. Going to a newer BBQ place near our old house that we all like. Has been there about a year or less, but we all like it. And DS knows how to get there since he grew up a mile or so away from there. We get her back Saturday and will have her until Tuesday night I think. She’s either teething or getting a cold or has allergies. Her nose runs off and on, and she’s rubbing at it and her face when it’s not. She has 3 or 4 teeth that are trying to come in and then she’ll be done. DS is getting a bad cold (he’s so run down) and he feels awful. He missed work yesterday due to it and won’t get paid because he’s out of sick leave and in the hole time off wise.
Sounds like Mara is going to sleep, she’s been quiet since I ran up there. She had tossed both pacifiers out of the crib, and then wants them. She’s not big on planning ahead yet. Going to give her a few more minutes and then start working up in the other room. EDIT: It’s now 2:35 and she’s still awake and fussing! We are going to keep her overnight so DS can go home, take some cold meds, and get some sleep. Will meet DIL tomorrow when I go in town for my PT.
EDIT: I meant to mention the InstaPot. Stan got his about 6 mo after we started WW. He LOVES that thing! His biggest issue with it (more my issue) is that he forgets to figure in the time it takes for prep, then for it to get up to pressure, and then to let pressure back out. So meals that he’d say would be at 5:30 were maybe done about 6:30!!! But he’s made chicken breasts, pork chops, the mini steaks we get for 99 cents at Kwik Trip, and a variety of other things. And he loves boiling eggs in it. There are some great cook books out there. Others not so good. I can give you a few suggestions for cookbooks if you get one.
I’ll check back in tonight. Have a good day all.

Joyce, sounds like your boss is in a hard place, if someone expects her to make him work because he knows someone high up. Bad for the whole department. Raining off and on here today, supposed to be nice tomorrow. Let us know what you make with your instant pot. I know I will be using mine more when the weather cools down.
Ruth, chemo is very hard on a person. One of the cousins I saw when I visited St. Louis had leukemia almost 40 years ago. At the time there wasn’t a good bone marrow transplant list so they used his own bone marrow. Between that and the chemo treatments he had he was able to have a good productive life. He now has problems from some of that treatment but as he said he would probably not be here if it wasn’t for the treatments. Is Carol still working are has she been able to retire? Hope Mara isn’t getting sick since her dad has a cold, those things can run in a household.
Cool rainy day. I went to AAA to get some Euros for our trip – took a long time and have to actually go back on Tuesday to pick them up. Before I went to AAA I stopped by the senior center and dropped off a bag of paper to be shredded. They have the locked bins for the paper and then a company comes in and shreds everything. I’m sure I’ll have more papers because I still have several boxes to go thru in the basement. I have a load of clothes I the dryer that I need to get out so need to get going.

Dottie, we were posting same time. I did an update. Not sure if Mara is teething, getting her Dad’s cold, or has allergies. And once in a great while she just refuses to nap. Giving her another 20 minutes and then I’ll get her up if she’s awake and run some errands. Then an early bedtime.
DS Carol was able to retire last year right before school started. I think they were just as happy to replace her because she had been working part time only for a while once she started treatments. It was just too much for her. And I believe she was able to go on one form of disability with SS. She is still on the district’s insurance, so I’m sure they’ll be happy when she hits 65 (Nov of 2020) and has to go on Medicare. She gardens and gets in walks and rests a lot. Just what she needs to be doing to let her body rest and recover.
