Whether you are regular poster or a lurker, we encourage you to talk with us. We do talk about books, but also about our lives, and Weight Watchers. We are women who are spread around the country, and eventually you will learn you we are, and what books we like to read. Don't be intimidated, just pop in and tell us who you are, and what you are reading now. We will make you feel right at home.
This is a thread we had on the WW 50 Year old board, so even though most of us have moved beyond our 50's, I am keeping it here. Some prefer to post on Facebook, but for those who may also like to post on something that resembles our old format, I decided to start this. Although we were brought together by our love of books, and we love to share our ideas about books and authors, our friendship has grown, and we know a lot about each others lives. We are spread across the country, and that adds a bit of interest as well, learning about other people's way of life through the "book" they write on the thread.

Good morning. Here it is 5:25 am, and it is DARK outside!! Wasn't it just days ago that it was light by now??? Oh boy...and Old Farmer's Almanac is calling this winter's fun Polar Coaster!! Yep....another wicked winter predicted. Chilly yesterday and breezy, today a high of 78. Crazy weather times.
Gareth, I went with DH yesterday morning, with jeans on, with a short sleeve top and I regretted that, wished I had a sweat shirt on. It is August right? Lol, strange. I will pray and pray that you do not get called up for jury duty!! I hate when I get put on the list!!! The thing with the run/walk up north and 500 people, the big Bellin race in GB in June attracts around 12,000. runners! Plus it is a pretty good size race for people to line the streets to watch. So this one in Minocqua is small potatoes.
Marsha, I hope things work out that you find a walking buddy. I too and going to do some shopping this weekend, need to run to Kohl's. I hope everyone is up north for the holiday weekend, and it is nice and quiet at the stores.
Pinky, thanks, I am very glad I made the right choice with the job! That is the issue we had, all the years we lived in the house we just sold, the county is really rural, so not a lot of people to fill those jury boxes.
Carol, the beauty salon I go to is small too, it is in the small town a few miles north of our old house. Even with coming from here in town, it is cheaper than going to a salon in town here. I think it is stupid to pay the prices they charge here. Thank you! I am very happy I made that choice.
Robin, (if we even see you...) good luck these next 2 days, getting all your last minute chores done. I am sure you will do great getting it all done, you are so organized! That is great that the weather is going to work out for you all! I don't think the neighbors see anything, as the blinds are closed when it gets dark out. The people across from us leave their blinds open all night, and looking over there at night with their lights on, I can hardly see anything in there, strange, isn't it?
Anngie, lol, yes, all of you guided me!!! Thank you!! I agree, that it is our duty to be called to jury duty but I think nobody wants to actually do it. When you watch shows like Law & Order and see the jury's, it looks kind of glamorous, but we all know it is not.
Well they did not do the wash, with it being the 3 month check up for DH, the doctor did a scan first and found 3 tumors grew back, so they have scheduled surgery to remove them. The wash is on hold. Today will be a long day for DH, who has been spending his days dozing in his chair...MRI at 8 am, then he is going to watch our grand son's football practice, with that finishing right before it is time to go to the Packers game. So he will take DGS home to shower, then the 2 of them will go over to the stadium and get filled up on tailgating food, before going to their seats to watch the last preseason game. DH probably won't get home till around midnight. I will let him sleep in tomorrow.
Have a nice day everyone.

Karen---Oh no on those tumors that have grown back, not good. Good thing he has a fun day planned with DGS to keep his mind off of more surgery---well maybe for today anyway. Sending hugs and all good thoughts for both of you. I am going to hope the Farmers Almanac doesn't know what it is talking about--GGGRRRRRR!!!!
I have a little bit left of The Rosie Project but it went pooff and now I am on hold but should get it back soon. It was available immediately when I borrowed it the first time so didn't think it would be a problem. I'm not sure a date for bookclub has been set so hope it all works out okay. I am now listening to Becoming---which I am liking and also Summer of 69 which I have only listened to a chapter but expecting to like it. I was 12 years old then so will see what I remember of the times in 1969. I was also notified last night that I came up for The Library of Lost and Found in audio so as always they are all coming in at the same time---So Many books, so little time!!
Deciding if I should mow lawn today or run some errands--tough decisions but thinking the lawn will win out as it is a beautiful day today---sunny but on the cool side.

Karen - so sorry they found more tumors! When will they do the surgery?
Pinky - When too many kindle books come in I just turn off my wifi but there is nothing I can do with the audio books. I find it almost impossible to get through even one book in the time allowed.
Not much news from here. I skipped my walk this morning. I didn't feel like going. If I still had my buddy I would have been forced to meet her. That's why I liked having a buddy.

Busy morning. First at work. My back to work later day. Our pharmacy is advertising flu shots. Is it too early in the season to get one or should I wait awhile? Finished The Accident. It was ok. It did have a couple twists I didn't see coming but overall I thought the story was just a little unbelievable. After work yesterday I went to get an estimate on my car I'd been putting off. Someone awhile back had clipped my front bumper in the parking lot and the edge was loose. I didn't see it happen and of course they left without leaving any info. I thought I probably would need a new bumper but they were able to push it back in place and glue it. Looks good as new. While I was there I asked about my back bumper that had gotten scraped by the garage door when it shut when the car wasn't pulled in quite far enough. They buffed it out so you can just barely see it. I was shocked when I went to pay and they said no charge.
Karen, so sorry to hear about DH. When is surgery scheduled?
Pinky, beautiful day here too but a little breezy. Good day to mow that is if I ever actually mowed!
Marsha, my Fitbit is my exercise buddy. It motivates me to walk.
Gotta get busy....

Pinky, hope you get that lawn cut, ya never know what old Mother nature will throw at us! You should know the saying: make hay while the sun shines! Hahaha.
Marsha, I am just like Gareth, I don't have a fitbit, but I use my health app on my Iphone, and am challenged every day (I challenge myself, especially when I do not eat the best!), to do some walking, since it is syned to the WW app, it is so easy to earn those FP's.
Gareth, see above, lol!!!
DH surgery is scheduled for Sept 9th, but we have to wait for the hospital to call with the time, supposedly some time in the PM. The scheduling nurse at the clinic said it will be an in and out procedure, but she does not know my husband! He has to get out for sure by the next day, as he has his Botox scheduled for Wed, the 11th. He did really good this morning with the MRI, he likes having that valium, to settle him down, he said he even fell asleep.
Walked a half mile after we came home, but it started sprinkling, so I high tailed it back, so far it is holding off.
See you all tomorrow.

Karen, I am sorry about your DH. Hope this time the surgery is really in and out.
Busy morning. I had to go to Walgreens to pick up a prescription and of course, they had to talk to me about so that took longer than I expected. Then I went to the eye doctor. I barely got there at my appointment time, but then I had to wait about 25 minutes before the doctor saw me. He told me I will probably have to have cataract surgery on my right eye next year. After that, I went to Wal-mart to grocery shop. I picked up something there for lunch. Finally, feel like I can stop and sit for a little while.
Really, not much going on here now that I'm back home.
Robin, I will be thinking about you this weekend. I know everything will run smoothly and the wedding will be beautiful.

I am popping in to say hello, may check tomorrow morning, but then not again until later Sunday, or else Monday.
Karen, so sorry about DH's tumors coming back. I hope the surgery will cure that, and he will be on the road to recovery soon.
Seems like everyone else is just moving along. Marsha, I will turn off wireless on my kindle, with too many books, but if you listen to a book on audio on your phone, and you have cellular, it will disappear too. I learned that the hard way when I had my old iPad with cellular, was at the end of the book, and turned wifi off, but the cellular made it go poof anyway.
Carol, I always decline having them explain a prescription to me. I was using Walgreens for a long time, but we use Silver Script for our Part D, and because they are owned by CVS, they have cut off Walgreens as a preferred provider, but I use a small pharmacy nearby, so really much nicer, and the cost is either the same or less.
I don't get a flu shot, but I need to get the 2nd Shingrix shot. My pharmacy has no trouble getting it.
Pinky, I was 16 during the Summer of 69, I remember some things, but there were other things in the book that you will find very amusing. I loved the book, and also loved Becoming.
I had a great spa pedicure and manicure this morning, tried a new place that is really more of a spa feel than the normal nail salon. DH had a mani/pedi too. I will say, we may pay a lot for hair and color, but we can get manicures very cheap. Most places charge $7 for a regular manicure. This place is expensive, charging $10, but they did such a better job on my cuticles that I might go and pay the extra. This week I had a gel manicure though. I wanted the relaxation of this place. They gave us each $10 off for their grand opening special. I stopped into the office to run the payroll, and deposit a check that came in. Then had a spray tan, which is a quick thing to do, and not something I am planning to continue doing, but wanted it for this dress. I'm tired, also woke up with a bit of vertigo, but must have been allergy related because I felt better after taking Alavert.

Robin - I'll be thinking of you this weekend. Your manicure was a bargain! Here for a regular basic manicure I think the best we can do is about $13. I don't do manicures unless I have somewhere special to be, and then I like to do gel because I know they are more likely to stay nice. I hate the way my nails are after removing any kind of manicure so that's why I avoid them. I like a pedicure in the summer, but at this point I'm waiting for mine to start to chip away and I'll take it off until next summer of my next trip to AZ if it is still warm there.

So I get the bargain on the things I do more often, what do you know? I have been pretty lucky lately with regular manicures, they have been lasting about 5 days, and even are not bad after a week. I don't have pedicures very often, but love it when I do. The opening special at this place was $20 for a regular manicure and regular pedicure. There are a lot of places here that will do a mani/pedi mid-week for $15. There is a nail salon on almost every other block, I wonder how they can all do business.
