Ok clearly starting the thread is not my best work...on the tablet.! Meant Holiday Monday...but oh well...
Not sure I can catch up very well from here... the struggle is real, I tell ya!
LOL Christine yeah, then DH might remember Sargeant John Curley... very handsome guy and very personable, we had a nice visit with him.
Glad you had fun Friday at the game. The EEE virus is from mosquitos...ummm, Equine Encephalitis something? Very dangerous for very young and elderly... several deaths in MA and several tests for positive in our county.
OK trying to finish up breakfast and head up to pack. Oh hot tub was running yesterday, so that was good.
Will CBL if I can

Good morning!
Carole, I love our start for today, LOL! Kudos to you for doing it even on vacation. As usual (in past years) it is going to be hot-hot today. It was 85 degrees when I headed to bed at 9:30 pm. I am hearing cooler temps after Wednesday though. I was just telling DH that I am a little melancholy remembering this day in the past--we (my family and I) always went to a pancake breakfast that the firemen prepared and then to a HUGE swap meet/flea mart. It was so much fun--there was a parade...great memories. DH and I used to go as well after we were married. About 5 years ago they stopped it and I'm still a little sad about it. This also was the "last day of summer" when I was a student in grade school. Now, with school starting in early August, that is kind of fading away as well. Oh well...the memories are still there! And I am enjoying the 3-day weekend Oh, and a 4-day workweek!
Carole: So glad that you were there long enough to have the spa fixed--hope that you got to enjoy it! I also hope that your drive today is a smooth one. So glad that you got the chance to get away!
Lisa: Wow, I guess that it is good that you are hearing about the realities of Medicare and the expense. I guess that I am hoping that "someone" gets it all figured out by the time I retire where it won't be so expensive...I know that North Carolina is trying out a model that is different that what others are doing--maybe they will figure it out. Wow, hard to imagine rain right now! Good for you for getting on the weeding. That is my plan as soon as I finish this post. Did you go out to dinner? We had salmon, salad, and roasted potatoes. Today feels like a "grill day" so maybe mahi mahi burgers...I want to try to "fry" zucchini in my airfryer too. What is on your agenda?
Jenny: Hope that you were able to lay low yesterday--sounded like your body was telling you it was time. DS19 is doing well in Eugene. I may have mentioned that I have a cousin who lives there with her husband (she is older--about 65) and their son has a classic vw shop there too. We introduced Max to them and they helped us with his move. He is going to their house for dinner today---I am so glad! Yesterday he really sounded like he was getting acclimated to it all. Classes don't start until late September...so Audrey starts tomorrow? I wish we still did that in CA! I remember when the kids got to "drive to school" --- it was a game changer. Hope that you have a nice day today!

Sue: Heading back home today? I know that you'll keep us posted on the traffic--be safe!
Christine: Hope that you have a good day today--I am FINALLY tackling the weeding as soon as I am done here. Need to do the "hoe routine" to be sure that there are no snakes---uggh, I hate snakes! Hope that you have a good day.
Shelly: Hope that you MIGHT have today off?? Maybe?
Okay, signing off for now. I am going to do the weeding and will try to check in later. Have work-work to do today in addition to cleaning some more cabinets. Have a nice day ladies!

Quick hi as we get ready for the Labor Day cookout....folks will start to arrive around 2pm...Jason is cutting up watermelon and cantaloupe, I’m in charge of potato salad, Karen is making green beans and a salad of some sort and Bob is in charge of the smoked turkey breast. Others are bringing something to share so we will have plenty to eat. Oh, Bob is also in charge of the shrimp and kielbasa for appetizers.
Had a great day yesterday and by the time we got home from our long road trip day, grilled pork chops and squash for dinner, then took Karen’s folks out for MORE ice cream we all came home and were all asleep somewhere between 9-10pm. With the kids here the house is buzzing by 7am or shortly there after.
Weather isn’t really cooperating today for outside picnic so the food will all be in the house and when it comes time to eat we will sit in or out depending on the weather.
Hope all are having a relaxing weekend....we are and it’s been great
