Tired...picked a friend up before 8, took her to the hospital, got her checked in...didn't take her to OR till 10 saying it would be an hour and over two hours later she was not back so her husband came down to take her place and wait.
Tomorrow (me time) with friends...cards, fun and food....some wine, too

cathygeha, hope your friend is OK. Goal: get back to sticking to my daily plan more closely. Me-time: Reading, meditating, exercising, playing with kitty. I polished a bunch of silver yesterday and am enjoying the shine. They are some small spoons that hang in a wooden rack that I inherited from my mom via her second husband's first wife. 'Cause I don't have enough stuff from my immediate family hanging around.

Getting back to acupuncture later this week, and might jump ship there and go to another practitioner...not sure yet! Yoga this week is me time, along with checking in here.
Goals are to keep OP and track and get exercise.

lani, My friend is fine. The long wait was just that...waiting for the doctor to get to her turn. The procedure only lasted 15 minutes!
I have a spoon collection

lani, cathygeha, Years ago I ended up with a lot of silver plated flatware. I don't really know where it all came from, probably yard sales or something. Anyway I sorted it and worked on identifying the patterns. I even bought at least one book. I loved the old patterns and I was taken with the forks. I also enjoyed all the odd pieces I had. I was thinking of displaying some of the forks but decided I didn't need another hobby. I think I donated it all to Goodwill.

I started a spoon collection of places we visited, have a selection of my mother's mixed older pattern sterling for serving meals, inherited my mother's Christmas spoons...etc. I have most in a box that is lined but have the Christmas spoons in felt bags and only take them out from time to time. I would love to have a way to display the Christmas spoons but am not sure it would be good for them to be out.

cathygeha, yes, the spoons do get tarnished and polishing them is a pain, but I use them often and enjoy seeing them every day. They remind me of my mom and my stepdad. I also started using some of my paternal grandmother's silverware on a daily basis. It feels so Downton Abbey. I also use my wedding china and glassware when we have guests.

I need to start using the silver more often. Use it when I do the Wednesdays here but have not used the good china with them. Should. I did start using the "good" from when I moved to Lebanon and now only have four dinner dishes left. I have considered putting aside one complete set of that pattern in the pieces I have...a set for four...and put those in the cabinet I have the more expensive pattern now. I would put the pieces that do not make up the set for four in the dishes for every day and use them. Hmm...

cathygeha , Mr. Lani broke one of our wedding drinking glasses the last time we had company. So I get to use it, and some of it gets winnowed out! I figure if I'm not ready to get rid of stuff I should make an attempt to use it.

I figure if I'm not ready to get rid of stuff I should make an attempt to use it. My daughter was here for New Year's Eve one time and wanted to use the Rosenthal Crystal champagne sherbet glasses that I have drug around since high school. I once had six but moves saw the fragile stems broken on two of them and I had four left. That evening we took photos and chatted in the living room and enjoyed the Christmas tree AND one of the glasses broke - she felt horrible. I told her things like that happen and now there are three. I agree on using them! Will start today with the second best at meals and use the fine china next time lunch is at my house.

All this talk about fine crystal, china and silver is something I think about this time of the year. We married late in life and bought our own quirky set of antique china, which I adore. We were gifted with a gorgeous set of antique sterling silver service for 6 when we married - it was a special joint gift from my sister and father. And we have some lovely non-crystal goblets a friend's mother gifted us when we married. I remember the thrill of FINALLY being able to register for stuff, even though we were adults and had the basics, my sister insisted on getting me to register because even though we were eloping she said some people would want to send gifts anyway. She was right about that, and we got some nice pieces, mainly for the kitchen. And we NEVER use any of it, with a few exceptions - the giant saute pan, a glass fruit bowl, silver frame, and crystal candlesticks. Those are the only things we have out and use regularly. But the tableware, it's gorgeous and I want to use it more than just at TDday, the holidays/New Years/Valentine's Day, but I just don't. I suppose I could replace all my regular white daily china with the antique stuff but it's antique and literally irreplaceable, so what to do? And the sterling silver is amazing, and I love the heft of it and the history infused in it, and all of that, but I just don't use it regularly. I'd have to hand wash it and I think that stops me from using it daily. Such are the problems of the Have's in the world, eh?
