Can't believe school is just starting. We have been in school for two weeks already. When do your kids get out? June 18th. When I went to school, along with the dinosaurs, the schedule that diva49’s DGKs are on is what we followed. In after labor day, out right about the 18th of June.

it is a state law in Missouri that school Dodd not start until after Labor Day. Texas passed a law like that too. Then, school districts started requesting waivers, which were granted and more and more districts moved their start dates up. Parents like getting out of school at the end of May (Memorial Day) and would rather start earlier to achieve that. Plus, parents want an entire week off for Thanksgiving, 2 full weeks at Christmas and then a full week off in March for Spring Break. That guarantees that schools need to start mid-August to get in all of the required days.

i want a lot of things but that doesn't mean the schools will accommodate me! for instance, i think school should start at 9 or 9:30am and then get out that much later. i can't imagine it's the parents asking for those particular dates and then magically gets it granted. sounds like school board and district wants those dates and so they make it happen.
kids already get the whole week of thanksgiving and the 2 weeks at christmas and the full week at spring break. we had that when i was a kid and it's not any different for my kids now.
