How did you find the book “The Beck Diet Solution” by Dr. Judith Beck? What do you think of the book?

I found the book through post on the old Weight Watchers message boards. I think the book is great and it was what I was looking for, something to work on my thinking about doing this. I knew from the beginning that I wouldn't be good about working the exercises which was a reason I jumped at the chance to do these reviews to keep me thinking in a "Beck" way.

Someone on one of the message boards in this ProBoards mentioned the Beck Review and I joined one. I still have not found the book. The reviews remind me a bit of a book that I looked through and did the worksheets in when in Saudi about thirty years ago. It was "Habits Not Diets" (or something like that).

bbbearsmom, I found it through you! I came across an ongoing review on the old Newbie thread and jumped right in.

lani, The first review on the Newbie board was in 2011. cathygeha, I'm sure it is similar to the book you read. There are a number of books out there that talk about these ideas.

I found it from your group on the old WW forums! I don't normally go for self help books but I liked the conversations you guys were having and decided I needed to be in on that. cathygeha , GET THE BOOK! You get books sent to you all the time from the US, yes? I'm sure your daughter can buy one and ship it to you in Lebanon. It's not heavy at all. You simply cannot get the full power of the book by only following along with the threads, there is soooo much more in the book and I'm sure it will be helpful to you, but you have to have it in hand. Have you looked on Amazon to see if it's available in e-book form as well? It might be.
ETA:
It's here as an ebook:
And on Amazon via Kindle.

I don't buy books online or have any sent to me. I used to buy from a local shop then my sister gave me her Nook and then I bought one of my own. I now read books to review and don't even visit the bookstore any more. My sister and I share an account. Right now she is dealing with her husband in the hospital post spinal surgery and it has been dicey so won't ask her. I will keep it in mind and if my son or daughter come to visit before the end of the year ask them to bring me a copy. Can also ask the bookstore if they have it in their depot in Beirut.

I am sure there are many ways to get the same information...it was a long time ago that I read that and other books like it. Maybe late 90's...

Can also ask the bookstore if they have it in their depot in Beirut. That sounds like a possibility, Beirut is a pretty cosmopolitan city, yes?

surfgirl, I checked the online books in country and it is not listed. I could do a special request OR have my daughter add it to my Nook...maybe.

cathygeha, adding to your Nook seems like the easiest thing to do for the short term, while having someone mail you the paperback book. The book is like a workbook of sorts and is really helpful, IMO, to have in hard copy.
