This thread is for anyone that has been away from healthy eating, had a gain and is recommitting. We accept all forms of healthy eating here, whatever that means to you. We touch base daily for accountability and to encourage one another. This is a judgment free zone.
We all struggle to get the weight off and keep it off. Sometimes this is a challenge, but we never give up and that is the key. Regardless of our situation or where we are in reaching our goal, we count on talking to each other every day and are blessed to have one another as friends.
Our motto is persistence, not perfection

Good morning.
I hope everyone is doing good this morning. Today is supposed to be our hottest day of the week, so I'm not really planning any outside time at all other than watering the flowers and a trek to the mailbox. In the 100ish degree range and humidity in the mid-70ish humidity range. Ick, Ick, ICK! Anyway, after today we should drop into the mid-90s then the high-80s for next week. Honestly it seems a paltry victory. I want 60s and 70s!! Haha!
Not much happening around here. Just some things around the house. I might do some work on my rocks later too.

Hello everyone,
Whoa, Lora, you had better slow down there! HA, so much excitement with the septic tank and all! We are getting the heat back starting today and again tomorrow. I will enjoy the fall weather when it gets here. I am glad I left the pool open this long, but it has to get closed in the next week or so. Your plan to avoid the excessive heat sounds like a good one. Susie, thanks for starting us off. I hope you have some good things planned for your day. I'm still off until Thursday. I wasn't able to pick up the shift at the station tomorrow. Its a good thing...I still have projects to get done. I did change my front door knob successfully! Whoo hoo! I have to go to a meeting at work from 12 to 1, so I'll stop at Lowe's on my way home and pick up a couple of things I didn't get last week. Then I hope to finish some mowing and start the pool house painting. Other than that, no plans. I offered for my brother and his wife to come by and have wine by the pool today or tomorrow, but haven't heard back. I hope everyone is having a good day, and I'll bbl. Waving to all!

Good Morning All...got to my morning Balance & Stretch class and am now heading to Stitch Therapy (my neighborhood sewing/needlework, etc group). This group does so much for charity (and usually something fun for us to keep too). Today we are finishing up the "prayer squares" for DH to take to a men's retreat. He will be talking about the 4 months he spent in the hospitals, after his heart attack and the importance of the prayer blanket I laid across him each day when I left. Plus we are making little pumpkins out of embroidery thread - they look really cute.
Lora - I think the lady will be very pleased with the rock. Glad the septic tank has been serviced - We used to have one when I was a kid, that was after we moved FROM the house that had an outhouse, so it was a BIG improvement - thank goodness. It is really hot and humid here too, supposed to be over 100 tomorrow. I would like to see Fall- not Winter though - lol!
RobinMD - I will come and sit by the pool with you and drink wine - ha !!!!!

Susie - Oh girl! I walked outside to water the mums and the dianthus and walked to the road to check the mail box and I'm done! Lol. Literally I was out there less than 10 minutes and I'm my clothes are damp and I have sweat running down my brow. Stay in the A/C as much as possible tomorrow. I can't wait for some cooler temps to come our way. For me and Mark, every home we've owned has been on septic. The only time we had city sewer was when we were in a apt. when we first moved to Atlanta. My granny had an outhouse, a pump at the kitchen sink and a well until the early 60s when they finally plumbed the inside of the house. My dad was a private in the army and saved as much of his paycheck as possible every month until he had enough to pay to get her plumbing installed. He was the oldest and the siblings left at home were all in young teens and the youngest was an infant. They did have electricity, but I believe it was just like one lightbulb socket hanging from the ceiling in each room. And honestly, to hear her tell it, they thought they were pretty fancy and spiffy for their area of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Edited to add: I also meant to mention that we broke our fast at lunch today. I'm pretty proud that I got in 45 1/2 hours. I wasn't feeling very hungry when I started eating, but once I had the first few bites, it was tasting pretty amazing. Lol. I finished my meal with my version of a pumpkin spice latte. Who needs a pricey Starbucks version that's full of sugar and whatever crazy chemicals they put in those flavoring syrups? It was delicious and tasted like a wonderful mug full of fall...now if the weather would only play nice and follow suit.

Hello again,
Lora, I hope all was ok with the septic! I had some serious issues with mine, about 7 years ago, and I was terrified that the whole field would have to be redone. A nightmare, and costing money I didn't have. I got through that, but I do pay attention to it, and probably need to get it cleaned out again fairly soon. It can be so expensive if something goes wrong with it. I hope the heat breaks for you soon. We are only having a couple of really hot days this week, and then that might be it for us up on the Mason-Dixon line.
Susie, the Prayer Squares sound so nice. I think all of those things that people make, are so thoughtful and useful. Our volunteers at the hospital where I worked made little neck pillows, like you would wear on an airline, but they are so helpful for people in bed. There have been other great things they have made over the years, and I just always appreciated their contributions in time and talent.
Well, I did get the mowing done, and tomorrow is painting day for the pool house. I think the weather is supposed to be really nice and warm, so if I get hot while I'm painting, I can jump in the pool - HA! I have really enjoyed my days off. I have been able to totally have a mental break from work. Its probably good that I didn't pick up the station shifts, but I still could have used the money... I do think I needed to get my head in a better place, and think about my future options, and what I want to be doing, going forward. I am excited about doing some painting and decorating (as soon as DD takes her cat in the near future), and enjoy my house a little longer, but keep it ready to sell when the time comes. I am totally open to downsizing and letting this place go. I will be back tomorrow. I am really tired today, so I will enjoy one more night of vacation, and I can sleep in tomorrow morning! I hope everyone is doing well, and your week is going by quickly, RobinMD

RobinMD - all was fine with the septic, we just wanted to have it emptied and checked out. When we bought the house nobody could tell us when it was last emptied. So obviously Mark and I were wondering if it every had been. The house is 8 years old, so we figured best to stay ahead of the situation and get it checked out. We had a bad situation with ours in GA. We decided to get the tank emptied and that would be a good selling point, well of course they found that tree roots had invaded the tank. Thankfully the lines were clear and it was just the tank we had to have worked on, but that increased the cost from $500 to $3500. Our tank here has the access ports above ground, so no digging involved. Just remove the caps, drop their hoses and start pumping. The one in GA had to be dug up every time. Our cost here was only $255. Good luck on the painting tomorrow. I wish I had a pool to jump into, I'd sure feel better about getting outside if I did. Haha
Susie - My PSL is my regular coffee with my PS "creamer" mixed in. I make it using the following: 1/4 cup pure pumpkin (not the pumpkin pix mix), 1 cup heavy cream (I'm sure any milk or nut milk could be used as well), 1 heaping tablespoon of pumpkin pie spice, 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger, 1/8 teaspoon salt. The salt seems a little strange, but helps bring out the natural sweetness of the pumpkin (kind of like when you salt a watermelon or cantaloupe). Then you can add sweetener to the coffee if you like. Anyway, I added about 3 Tbs. of this mixture to my coffee and I like to buzz it in with my battery operated frother, just to get a little frothy, foamy top. But that isn't a must, of course. I also love the prayer square and blanket story.
