What guides your decisions on portion sizes?

They developed over the years. They started when I was losing weight on WW. I fit my food to my points. Over the years I've adjusted them. The old Good Health Guidelines were also my guide. I eat a variety of things and I usually don't have a big serving of any one thing.

When it comes to meat I limit it to 2-3 oz depending on what I'm eating.I don't measure raw veggies for my salads.I limit my fruit to 1/2 cup-3/4 cup of berries. When it comes to snacks I eat individual sizes except my unsalted almonds.I fit them to my points and count them out.I do try to get in most of the good healthy guidelines since I'm doing points plus on ITB.

When it comes to meat I don't weigh poultry or fish but for red meat I stick to 3-4 oz. For salads it depends on how hungry I am. For snacks, I start out measuring one serving and then having more that isn't measured.

Many (most) of the recipes I use have a calorie count per serving which is so helpful. I cannot stand the ones that say serving size: 1/4th of recipe. Thanks a lot. I invariably use too small portions, leaving me with larger ones when I get to the end of the leftovers. Oh well, it all nets out I suppose.
I know the calories of most of what I eat. i.e., I weigh out my cheese, and pay attention to the package information. I also stick to 3 oz. of protein if I don't know the exact calorie count.

Ditto lani. I measure out what the serving size is.

Weigh and measure or just go by what it looks like on the dish.
