Whether you are regular poster or a lurker, we encourage you to talk with us. We do talk about books, but also about our lives, and Weight Watchers. We are women who are spread around the country, and eventually you will learn you we are, and what books we like to read. Don't be intimidated, just pop in and tell us who you are, and what you are reading now. We will make you feel right at home.
This is a thread we had on the WW 50 Year old board, so even though most of us have moved beyond our 50's, I am keeping it here. Some prefer to post on Facebook, but for those who may also like to post on something that resembles our old format, I decided to start this. Although we were brought together by our love of books, and we love to share our ideas about books and authors, our friendship has grown, and we know a lot about each others lives. We are spread across the country, and that adds a bit of interest as well, learning about other people's way of life through the "book" they write on the thread.

Good morning. Just watched the full moon slowly go down, with clear skies it was very neat to watch. High of low 70's today and 70's for the next week.
Robin, you hit the nail on the head! When I went thru my knee surgeries, my DS would actually get mad if my DH did not text her right away, when surgery was over....but that is ok that she forgot to tell me about DB surgery..it is always different when the shoe is on the other foot. Have a great time in NJ!
Marsha, I guess they can't have that swim class at the West side, as the deepest part of the pool there is, I think, 5'2". Have a fun weekend, and drive safe.
Gareth, I remember, way back in the day, lol, when I worked at the store, the days off were busier, because of working. As things are shaking out, I sure am glad I did not take that job offer. Prairie Du Chen is across the state, Green Bay is over by Lake Michigan, on the Northeast side of the state. Green Bay received a total of 5" of rain this week. Of course we are way over our limit for the year.
Carol, I think DH will have the foley for a week. At least it is getting him to drink more water. Have fun today, and drive safe!
Anngie, sorry you will be getting rain. It sure can't break this rainy cycle we all are in this year! The ground is so saturated! I was at a part of the book last night, that I had to put it down and read a different book. Couldn't handle the childhood story of Hick. I do not read stories of child or animal abuse, can't handle it.
Pinky, I saw all that about the tornado in Sioux Falls, how horrible. They were really hit hard. I was hoping everything was ok by you, but I knew you were not home.
Talked to sister yesterday, and as I kept my cool, she did not get defensive. This is not the time for me to fly off the handle. Anyway, she just spaced it, what with being worn out by all of this. My DH, after talking to her on the phone, can tell she is not dealing with this too well. So I will overlook this gaf. Funny thing is, as we see now, my brother signed all the paperwork, for me to be his spokesperson for all health care and his billing, signing it on 9-11. So the hospital should have called me about the surgery. My sister and other brother had a fit when I found the paperwork putting them as power of attorney. They will all be leaving next month to go south for the winter. So we will be looking into getting that changed over to me.
At least we found out my brother's health issue. He has lung cancer that spread to his brain. With having the brain surgery, ICU is focusing on his rehab for that, and the lung cancer is being put aside for now. I have preached to my DB, back when I had gone thru my lung cancer, that you need to be proactive when it comes to something like that, and get a screening done right away, at the first sign (cough, whatever), to catch it quicker. The RN said he had to have it for quite awhile. I have not heard what stage it is yet, but it has to be at least at stage 4, for it to spread to the brain.
Need to get going, places to go, people to see.....as they say. Have a nice day everyone!

Cool but nice morning for our walk after getting home from work. Warm enough though that I was comfortable wearing a short sleeved tee. Rain predicted for later. It did sprinkle a little when we went to HyVee.
Karen, how's DB doing today? Have you been able to to talk to the Dr about DB or just the RN? How's DH feeling?

Gareth, it has just been talking with his RN. Of course every time we go up there, there are no doctors around. But as everyone knows, sometimes the RN's know more than the doctors! His RN, basically told us, between the lines that this will be something that he won't recover from. I am so mad at my little brother, I could shake him!!! He watched as I had lung cancer, and fought back to get healthy....what did you not understand about it? Geez...he has a huge mass on top of his chest, that yes, is cancer...huh! Why did you not go to the doctor when that started forming?? So many symptoms...come on man!!! But we will be strong, and stand beside him as he gets worse, as he is my little brother.

Karen----That is all you really can do for him is be there for him, and yet I understand your frustration with him. Good for you for keeping your cool with your DS. I would have been upset with her for not calling but the same thing with that situation----it really won't help anyone to get mad. I think I would certainly clarify with the nurse that you are the one that needs to be called. I feel so bad for you with all you have going on right now---Hugs!!!
Gareth---sounds like our weather here today. We are supposed to get quite warm this coming week---like up to 89 degrees on one day, can't remember which day.
Guessing it will be a quiet weekend on here which is typical anyway and then with Robin and Marsha away.
Went to the funeral this morning for the mother of our friend. She was 94 years old and was one of the sweetest ladies I know. It was a beautiful service for her. Not doing much this afternoon as I am feeling a tad under the weather. We have nothing else planned for the weekend and I am glad.

Good Sunday morning. Game Day! Still dark out here, at 6:10 am. Warm and humid is what we are expecting for the day. Good day for a football game!
Gareth, I hope you get an outside walk in today. I am going to try, once the menfolk leave for the game. Glad the game is at noon.
Pinky, nice to see you here on the weekend. Looks like I will be doing a lot of keeping my cool with dear Sister. She seems to not be comprehending the enormous seriousness of what DB is going thru. Was the woman you went to the funeral for still lucid, and mobile, before she passed? I love seeing the elderly out and about, gives me hope for the future!
As DH is going to the Packer game, they will leave here around 8 am, and be gone till probably around 4, I have a quiet day planned. Will not go to the hospital, no matter how much I want to. These few days are needed for my brother to sleep thru his healing, as otherwise, he gets agitated. So they have his hands tied down. It is pretty foggy right now, so if and when that lifts, I will take a walk.
Hope you all have a very special Sunday!!

Beautiful, warm, sunny morning for my walk. Love walking Sunday mornings. Always more quiet and peaceful than during the week. Lots of puddles after last night’s thunderstorm. Started Here To Stay while I walked and got into it right away.
Karen, DH must be feeling pretty good to go to the football game. Hope your DB is doing better today. Sometimes when you’re sick or recovering from surgery the last thing you need is company. Enjoy your quiet day!
Gotta get going and get chicken and gravy going in the crockpot. I’ll make mashed potatoes to go with it for supper. Peach dumplings for dessert.

Gareth, I am coming to your house for dinner!!!!!! Lol. DH is on pain meds, otherwise he would not be going, plus the guy he is going with, is doing the driving. I am sure he will be all done in, when he finally gets home.

Gareth---set another spot at the table for me too, it sounds wonderful.
Karen---Probably a wise idea for your DB to get his rest. I hope your DH doesn't overdo today. When we got home from church DH turned the Vikings on and immediately thought of you when I seen they are playing the Packers.Enjoy your quiet day.
I should go grocery shopping but not sure I feel up to it. I have had a cold that I just can't shake and seem to get tired so easily. Thought I was doing better while we were gone to the fair, but yesterday and this morning I am feeling not so great again.
