Whether you are regular poster or a lurker, we encourage you to talk with us. We do talk about books, but also about our lives, and Weight Watchers. We are women who are spread around the country, and eventually you will learn you we are, and what books we like to read. Don't be intimidated, just pop in and tell us who you are, and what you are reading now. We will make you feel right at home.
This is a thread we had on the WW 50 Year old board, so even though most of us have moved beyond our 50's, I am keeping it here. Some prefer to post on Facebook, but for those who may also like to post on something that resembles our old format, I decided to start this. Although we were brought together by our love of books, and we love to share our ideas about books and authors, our friendship has grown, and we know a lot about each others lives. We are spread across the country, and that adds a bit of interest as well, learning about other people's way of life through the "book" they write on the thread.

Good morning. Foggy here. after that burns off it should get to a high of 76.
Pinky, wasn't that dinner at Gareth's fabulous?!! I sure did enjoy my day of quiet!! I rarely get that. Hope you got your grocery shopping done. Be careful with that cold, it could turn into pneumonia.
Welcome back to all.
DS sent me a text yesterday that DB is now sitting up, awake, and was going to get something to eat. How great! Maybe now they can plan an attack on that lung cancer. DH has an appointment across the street from the hospital this afternoon, so we will go visit DB, see what is the next step, then go on to his apt. Today starts a very busy couple weeks, I can't believe that next week is our escape week.
Have a very nice day everyone.

Foggy morning here too. Sun is now coming out so the fog is burning off already. Even with the fog it was still nice enough for my walk. 80's and humid predicted again for today. DH didn’t like the peach dumplings yesterday so his got dumped. Glad it only made two servings. I didn’t need leftovers. Last time I made it he liked it so why not this time?! Oh well... I’d also made tapioca that he loves to use up milk that was getting old so he still had dessert.
Karen, hope you find DB doing well and get an idea of what plan of action is in place.
Pinky, hope you're feeling better today!
Hi ATF! Gotta get ready for work...

Good Morning---a beautiful morning here before the heat and humidity sets in. Can't believe a week ago we wanted the heat to kick in and now this week will be summer like. Crazy---but the heat will help the crops continue to mature so we need it. Sounds like hot and humid every day this week and was suppose to be sunny but now they are saying a small chance of rain starting Tuesday night and then for the rest of the week. DH is getting discouraged with this wet weather---normally we would have our silage cut by now and even a start on soybean harvest. Everything is so green and lush yet it looks like the end of June or early part of July. Now with more rain in the forecast it is frustrating but I keep saying at least we didn't have the tornado or the flooding or a hurricane so really we are better off than many people. It is just so dang wet out there. Some are saying we will still be harvesting the first part of Dec. and it really does make one wonder---hopefully the snow holds off. Sorry I am a Debbie Downer this morning with the weather---we are tired of it but yet thankful that it is not worse, I think not feeling well takes me down a notch too.
I do actually feel better today, just tired out. I sleep good and have even taken a couple of naps to help me through this miserable cold/flu bug. It is good for the diet plan however as not much of an appetite. I really need to feel better today and get some grass cut as it is really getting long again. Going to try to do that this afternoon or awhile and hope the humidity doesn't bother me to much. With my cold it kind of makes me feel like I have a harder time breathing---I think of people who have asthma or you Karen with the lung issue how you must feel all the time with the humid air. Our fog we had yesterday morning obviously moved on to Gareth and Karen/Marsha
Karen-- Yes that dinner was awesome---thanks Gareth! And how nice her DH didn't care for the peach dumplings so there was more for the rest of us---LOL!!! Hope you find your DB doing well and wanting to talk with you. Did your DH fair well at the game yesterday--I hope it wasn't too much for him, although how great to be out and doing something fun. Seems to be the best medicine usually. Can't believe your trip is finally next week---you 2 really need a getaway.
Gareth----Feeling better thank you!! They are talking upper 80's for us today with the humidity. Have a good day at work.
We meet for bookclub tonight to discuss The Rosie Project. Looking forward to it as our hostess has it set up for us to meet at a coffee shop in a town about 15 miles away which means 15 minutes to get there in our part of the country--LOL!!! They are normally not open in the evenings unless someone asks her too for a gathering like this. We will be served soup, a sandwich and a gourmet cupcake with of course some excellent coffee. Hope I feel well. I ordered our books for our next meeting which is The Round House----has anyone read it?

Karen – I looked on the Y ap and there is no deep water conditioning at the west side. Makes sense. Glad to hear db is awake and eating today.
Gareth -peach dumplings sound good to me!
Pinky – your book club meeting sounds good. I read the round house a long time ago. As I recall it was good and probably a good book club book but I don’t recall any details about the story.
Our trip to Madison was good but we didn’t get as much time with dd as we would have liked. We got there and unloaded everything up to her apartment. I helped her put her things in her dresser so we could take the plastic tub that she has been using to hold those things in. Went to lunch and then she had to get ready for Rush so we went back to the hotel. DH took a nap and as it turned out he napped a long time and I regretted that I didn’t just go to the Union Terrace but by the time I thought of it it was late afternoon. Went and got dinner and that was it. We had breakfast with dd and then headed home. DS had a sick kitty so he was going to the vet at noon and the timing didn’t work for us stopping to see him so we are going to try to go visit with them next weekend. I got my grocery shopping done when I got home but didn’t really have the energy or ambition to do anything else.

Karen, I am sorry about your brother. I understand quitting smoking is hard. My ex-BIL has started and stopped many times. Now he has COPD and is on oxogen all the time. One of my aunts watched her DH die from lung cancer, but she never stopped smoking and then she died from it, too. I think even after smoking was proven to cause lung cancer, people still seem to think it wasn't so bad. My high school had a smoking area which in my mind, was giving approval to something that was illegal for most students. You were supposed to be 18 to buy cigarettes.
We had fun with DGS. We went to the library for story time and make a quick trip to Walmart. He played hard. We brought him a new toy, a truck that had been his mother's and uncle's. It was funny he would try to move it by pushing it rather than pulling it by the small rope on the front. He has a sweet, pleasant personality. He got upset only once-when he was told no, of course.
Pinky, hope you are feeling better.

A very quick message with no personals. I was away from Friday until yesterday for a Bar Mitzvah in NJ, then back home for a wedding, which was at least close to home. I am leaving the office now to get some things we need for the football game, then going to tailgate and to the game. I did not read the thread for the weekend, or afternoon Friday either.

We have a beautiful week ahead - sunny and mid to upper 70’s. Not exactly pool weather, but I love it.
Karen, hope DH’s appointment went well today. I so wish he wasn’t in the pain he’s in. What does he take for it? Good too, that DB is now more alert. Now a plan can be put into place. My guess is he’ll be there for quite some time? You’re SO right about that part of the book! It was disturbing and far too much information. I was glad to get through it and get beyond it. I’m almost done with the book. To me, the jury is still out on it!
Pinky, I’m interested in hearing the book club opinions on The Rosie Project. If I remember, it wasn’t one of your favorites, right? Wow, your weather is forever changing isn’t it!
Marsha, sounds like you had quality time with DD even though the “quantity” wasn’t as you wanted. Kids!
Carol, don't you just love that little boy!
Hi to Gareth & Robin!
