Wednesday, 09/18 Do you have a problem putting a “health halo” on a food/drink and then eating/drinking more of it?
"Health halo" feeling a food is good for you so you think you can have more of it.

Saw this is an article about dieting, how some people will put a "health halo" on a food and then think it is okay to indulge in it. I do this a bit with my raw veggie salad, especially the lettuce. I'll start to increase the lettuce because it shouldn't matter but then I end up being too full. One thing I work on is my feeling of fullness and being comfortable so I'll cut back again.

I had never heard of a "health halo" on foods. I think my husband does this...for nuts, fruits, veggies, etc. He is shocked sometimes when I give him calorie numbers for foods he eats. He is healthy and not overweight so no worries but...
I might slip on the olive oil. We produce our own and it is easy to guestimate. I don't think of things as healthy and eat more of them (maybe veggies?) I just like some foods like pasta and don't always weigh and measure.

I think vegetables definitely deserve a health halo. I am always trying to get more into my diet.

I may be doing that with fruit. I might be as well, but I also feel like nobody got fat on eating too much fruit. Seriously...! That said, when in weight loss mode over eating fruit can be an issue. But lately I've been eating fruit for breakfast, then using fruit as a snack instead of carby stuff and it seems to be okay.
