Whether you are regular poster or a lurker, we encourage you to talk with us. We do talk about books, but also about our lives, and Weight Watchers. We are women who are spread around the country, and eventually you will learn you we are, and what books we like to read. Don't be intimidated, just pop in and tell us who you are, and what you are reading now. We will make you feel right at home.
This is a thread we had on the WW 50 Year old board, so even though most of us have moved beyond our 50's, I am keeping it here. Some prefer to post on Facebook, but for those who may also like to post on something that resembles our old format, I decided to start this. Although we were brought together by our love of books, and we love to share our ideas about books and authors, our friendship has grown, and we know a lot about each others lives. We are spread across the country, and that adds a bit of interest as well, learning about other people's way of life through the "book" they write on the thread.

Good morning. Storms are in the area, but not quite here yet. Expecting rain all day.
Gareth, you woke very early yesterday, and today I overslept. Now I feel like I am rushing. Hate doing that. DB feels he can stay on his own, (remember I said he is very private? Oh boy is he ever!) So we will let him, but talk with him on the days we do not have to take him anywhere.
Marsha, yep, it really turned into a horror of a year. Good for you, to keep up with the water class!! I have totally gone in the other direction for now, no working out at all.
Robin, I plan on talking to DB, just waiting for him to get settled back in, at home. Good luck getting that vertigo figured out, I know how that is, glad mine went away.
Pinky, thanks, and I am very happy to help him out. Sad that he never got married, to have a spouse to stand by you. Glad you are feeling better!!
Carol, we were talking about someone coming in for my brother, but right now, we do not know his financial health, so with the little house he owns and seeing what kind of shape it is in, we think he could not afford that. Thanks for the advice, it is good to know.
Anngie, thanks. That is what is so sad about this, he is only 62, I have a feeling he knew, because he sure took the talk from the Oncologist good. As I mentioned to Carol, we do not know yet, his financials, so assisted living might be too expensive. What are your final thoughts about White Houses?
Got to rush off, having slept a half hour late, I am rushing now, to pick up DB to take him grocery shopping this morning. Have a nice day.

Beautiful here this morning and should be a great day weatherwise. Sunny blue skies, high of 81 expected and lower humidity. Then tomorrow night thunderstorms expected and then it is suppose to cool down and it will be more like fall weather normal for our area. Temps in the 70's and low humidity---keeping my fingers crossed they have it right as I love that kind of weather.
Karen--enjoy your morning with your DB, hope he is feeling okay. You are right in that having a spouse to stand by you---in sickness and in health, Right?
So glad to be done with mowing, I have really gotten tired of it this year with all the rain. Our grass is so lush and green for this time of the year I cannot believe it. It is just like mowing in the spring of the year.Today I have a little office work to tend to and then I am going to sort through some things I have not made it through since we moved---not a fun job to me. Have a great day ladies!

Karen - I think it's ok to let exercise go by the wayside with everything you have going on right now. I am not happy about a full day of rain as Thursday is my boss' day to golf and if it rains he will be here all day. How far from you does db live?
Pinky - good luck with today's sorting. I need to focus on cleaning up the mess that has accumulated around my house again.
Not much going on here. Short dog walk this morning and we were almost home and there was Thunder and Mitzi was not happy! Glad we were only a few houses from home by then.

Finally the rain has quit here. It was raining when I got up and really pouring when I went to work. It's poured most of the morning . Flash flood warnings are out. My split shift day so it's back to work again later. I finished Here To Stay yesterday. Good thriller with a twist at the end I didn't see coming. Love it when that happens. Now I've started Body of Proof a free Audible original that's holding my interest.
Karen, sounds like our rain is headed your direction.
Pinky, enjoy your nice day!
Anngie, I had really bad sciatica where I could barely walk a few years ago. Meds and PT didn't help at all. Thankfully a chiropractor helped and I haven't had any problems since. I don't know what I'd have done without him.

Marsha---why do these messes happen so quickly???
Gareth----heard the rain was in your area---enough already!!! Who is the author of Here To Stay? Is it Catherine Anderson?

Karen, I see where DB owns his house. Hopefully he’ll be able to work this all and stay there. There are many agencies who can be called upon to work with a patient in cases such as this. Maybe the county where he lives? It’ll work out I am sure.
As as far as the book White Houses is concerned I can only say I don’t feel it was well written. I guess if I want more information regarding Eleanor Roosevelt (and I don’t) I’m sure I could find a much better biography out there. It was short! What did you think?
I’ve gone to PT a few times now but so far we haven’t found an exercise that seems to work. Wouldn’t you know, I’ve discovered I have “advanced arthritis” in the same leg as the sciatica! Oddly enough, the arthritis isn’t much of a problem for me. I’ll keep working the exercises though a little longer. Hmmm, chiropractor - never gave that a thought! We’ll see.

I did my regular Wal-mart run this morning. I needed some office supplies and meds so I went to the super Wal-mart which has more selections for these things. The only wrong with it is that it takes me a lot longer to shop.
It is very cloudy and we are supposed to get rain today. It was sprinkling when I was coming back from the store, but so far, that's all. It is a little cooler, just in the mid 80s.
Karen, you have a lot going on and I'm sure you are stressed. Try not to forget self-care though it is hard to find time for it. I guess you are glad you didn't go back to work.

Started out this morning dropping DH off at the airport. Trip there was not too bad, but there was a lot of traffic coming back for some reason. No big deal though. Yesterday I finished reading The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, which I really loved. If you read Daisy Jones and the Six, by the same author, you will like this even more. I couldn't put it down yesterday, so finished it, I read more than half the book yesterday and it is a 390 page book.
Seems like a lot of you in the midwest are not having great weather again. We are cool here in NY, 49 this morning when I walked the dog, but no rain. I might have to put my sprinklers back on. When it is not that hot, and I think it's going to rain every few days, I turn them off, but that is not happening. It hasn't rained in a while, and no rain in the forecast at all.
Anngie, sometimes the arthritis will cause nerves to pinch, so that can make the sciatica flare up or feel worse.
