Whether you are regular poster or a lurker, we encourage you to talk with us. We do talk about books, but also about our lives, and Weight Watchers. We are women who are spread around the country, and eventually you will learn you we are, and what books we like to read. Don't be intimidated, just pop in and tell us who you are, and what you are reading now. We will make you feel right at home.
This is a thread we had on the WW 50 Year old board, so even though most of us have moved beyond our 50's, I am keeping it here. Some prefer to post on Facebook, but for those who may also like to post on something that resembles our old format, I decided to start this. Although we were brought together by our love of books, and we love to share our ideas about books and authors, our friendship has grown, and we know a lot about each others lives. We are spread across the country, and that adds a bit of interest as well, learning about other people's way of life through the "book" they write on the thread.

Good morning. Dark and foggy right now. Fog should burn off, then high of 80.
Pinky, your weather sounds like the best, will you be sending it our way? Glad your mowing is done, for now. At the old house, I always felt that way, by now, in the cutting season, was just ready to be done. But then I knew what would be coming up soon....snow shoveling/plowing. Yeck!! Any plans for the weekend?
Marsha, the only bad thing about not keeping up with my working out is the scale still keeps going up! In my mind, if I am not working out, then the program stops. I hope your boss got out yesterday afternoon for golf, as it mostly did stop raining. Any plans for you this weekend?
Gareth, I know how you feel, about all the rain, we were out running around with my DB, during the gully washers. Boy did it rain! My DD2 and her family swear by Chiropractors. When they have issues, they go there first.
Anngie, we are worried about DB, with being all alone in his house, it will be hard on him, for when winter comes, and he is well into chemo by then, with just me and my DH here for him, we do not do shoveling, as that is one of the reason's we sold the house. We will have to look into those agencies, once we meet with DB and get a handle on his finances. My older brother thinks he will have to move into assisted living. That is all well and good, if he can afford it. I finished White Houses last night. I agree, it was not well written, she would jump into a story, without us knowing it. The only part that was well written, was the very end. Good thing it was not a long story, right? Sorry about finding the arthritis. Does heat help?
Carol, I see a Walmart run is on my horizon, also. Maybe Sunday morning. The store should be quiet for me then. I am doing my best to have me time. But then I brood about the house cleaning not getting done. I have that penciled in for this weekend.
Robin, how long is your DH gone for? It has been such a rainy summer, I worry that we will go right from rain, into snow. Any plans for the weekend?
Up very early, as the pain in my shoulder woke me up, and I was getting up at 5 anyway, to be at the hospital at 7 for the consult with the Radiation nurse and doctor. All siblings will be there for it. Then we will plan a meeting for the 4 of us, to get more info from DB. DH and I took him to his work yesterday, to see if they have short term disability, which they don't He had 12 days vacation left, so they are using that to pay his health insurance premium, which should take him to the end of the year. We went into his house, for the first time, yesterday, and my heart broke for him. The inside of his house is not good. My brother in law thinks the house will have to be torn down, and just the land sold. Lots for us to do, but how do you do it, without stepping on his toes, or insulting him?
Have a nice day everyone.

Karen---Yes I hope I am sending our weather your way, just so long as it doesn't take a wrong direction--LOL!!! Guessing you don't want the thunderstorm's predicted for this evening however and then we should really have some beautiful fall weather so they say. It is only 69 degrees this morning but feels very muggy already---I just want yesterday's weather back. No weekend plans for us which is so nice. DH will probably come up with something though, just nice to know nothing scheduled.
Gareth---thanks for the authors name, there were several books with that title.
Carol===I hope all is well with you weatherwise. I am hearing a lot of rain for Texas.
Anngie---sorry about that sciatica and arthritis. I find so much relief from my chiropractor and wouldn't be without one but realize they are not for everyone.
Robin---Sounds like you have me time to enjoy!! How many days of that do you get?
Karen---I feel so for you with what is going on with your DH and now your DB. I wouldn't know where to start with your DB, but is there someone who can advise such as a social worker or someone in another category in the medical field that can helpp your DB so it comes from a more intermediate party so it doesn't get quite so personal for your DB than a sibling recommending? Then just seems so tough but it seems there should be someone that can advise or give options such as low income apartments or such. Do you think he will share with you what he would like to do? Who knows maybe he has lived like this so long he is fine with it but actually has some money really stashed away and can afford something better. Just thoughts I guess and hugs for you friend!!
Some work in the office calling my name today and more sorting and reorganizing of some boxes of stuff from the move that needs tending to. Hoping to hit the Farmers Market this afternoon as I need some fresh veggies and the season will be winding down soon I am sure.

Karen - wow the issues with your db just keep piling on. I was just thnking he could see the house and cover the assisted living and then you said the house has to be torn down. I'm sure after today's discussions you will be able to put together some kind of plan moving forward. Boss did not golf yesterday but left at 3 to see his son's cross country meet. He is talking about taking this afternoon off.
Pinky - I noticed yesterday that the farmer's market in the town I work in was not there last night so I guess their season is done.
I went to the Y this morning even though it was really bad fog and terrible visibility. Deep water conditioning then swam laps for 10 minutes. Tomorrow we are supposed to have lunch with ds. I guess that means I will miss the Michigan/Madison game which is probably just as well as I would watch it if I were home and my loyalties are complicated with being a Michigan graduate but dd at Madison. No plans for sunday so sunday chores on the agenda. The fridge is empty once again. But at least this week we actually ate meals and I have chicken defrosted for tonight.

Woke up to lightening, thunder and rain again. Short lived this morning compared to yesterday morning. I debated about walking outdoors but looking at the weather app it looked iffy about getting more rain so I didn't chance it. I didn't want to wait and walk later this morning so I walked downstairs after starting the laundry. Nice and sunny out now but that's ok. I like to walk first thing and I have other things I need to be doing now when I'm done here. I started The Last Mrs Parrish this morning and got into it right away. It's another thriller.
Karen, your DB may have more money than you realize. You can't always tell by how someone lives. It shouldn't all fall on your shoulders even if your siblings will be gone for the winter. If it's like you think and there's no money there's help for low income people. Didn't the hospital assign him a social worker?
Carol, wondering too if you're near all the flooding in Texas.
Have a nice weekend everyone!

Karen, I am so sorry you are going through all this. I hope the meeting goes well. When you say that the inside of your DB's house is bad, do you mean dirty & messy or it is that things haven't been taken care of? My IL's house had a hole in the wall from where FIL had tripped with his walker. They always put off fixing things.
No, we are no where near the flooding here in Texas. I think most of it is close to Houston. I wish people wouldn't drive in flooded areas. It is hard to tell how deep the water is and it doesn't take much to be swept away. It is sprinkling right now and a little cooler.
Since we are members of the Friends of the Library. we get to go tonight for the used book sale. I am looking forward to it.
