Good morning!
Okay, I keep checking and I think that I am still the first post for our group....getting ready to leave soon for the long run day! I think I might be on my own today (will meet the group but most likely will split off) as some ran on Thursday and others don't want to run any hills--I am a believer that the hills make me stronger so I don't avoid them. It's okay, might be nice to listen to music and be on my own! I will be posting more later (when I am finished) but wanted to get us going...one of my tasks for a Successful Saturday today is to clean out the refrigerator...time to get it looking less cluttered and REALLY know what I need from the grocery store tomorrow. How about you?
Okay, will be back later....
Have a good morning!

Good morning! Set up for SUCCESS... I LIKE IT! Thanks Gabrielle - for giving us a NEW Saturday theme!! I think I will take time this morning to set up a meal plan/menu for the upcoming week! Tracy us here today - before we head out shopping - to tell me her schedule, and help with meal ideas!! Then I can make a list and get the groceries - and be ready for the week ahead!!
I have tomorrow - nothing planned - so it's a perfect day to prep for the week - and clean the fridge to get ready for a fresh start!!
I need to finish picking up a bit and doing up some dishes from last night - but I will get that done today - before heading out, so tonight can be a simple, relaxed evening at home!
Dinner last night was great - the first thing I MUST mention is, I had my 32 oz bottle of seltzer - that I drank while having appetizers! Between that and the fact I didn't over indulge in the snacks is a first for me! Dinner was good - and I did well with my portions! I did allow myself 2 cocktails with dinner and after - then had a big mug of tea before bed! Oh and I skipped dessert!! Peach pie & ice cream - but I wasn't hungry... so I skipped it!! Trust me I surprised MYSELF with my "behavior"!
"MAYBE" I am learning my time with friends is more about the visit than the food or drink??? Maybe??
I also truly believe it;s the fasting I have been doing - has "reset" my hunger meter.... is it possible?? I m scared to think that this is the "new" me... I can't see myself as NOT struggling...I am afraid to let myself believe it's for real!!
Anyway... let me refill my coffee and catch up...

We were all up later last night than usual - even Zoë didn't get to bed/asleep until after 11:00 PM! I slept "in" until after 7:30, thankfully Zoë & Tracy are still in bed...
Shelly: WOO HOO for being on vacation!! ENJOY the trip and the time... I know thinking about the "coming home" is always the worst part of the trip - don't let it take the fun out of the time you have with your family!
Safe travels today ♥
Gabrielle: LOL I was "ready" to get us started, but then there you were! Thanks! Enjoy your long run - with or without the group... I agree the hills would be beneficial (not for me obviously) for you - if you can do them and you enjoy them I say GO FOR IT!
GMTA... The fridge is on my to-do list today too! I am looking forward to getting my grocery list and kitchen ready for my shopping day! Tomorrow I can concentrate on prep and laundry - and other things... but this morning is ALL ABOUT THE KITCHEN! Which includes my grocery list & menu... so when I get groceries home tonight - the kitchen is ready!
Might not get back today... supposed to be a great weather day too - already 54 so should easily get up to the 80 that they are expecting.
OK Have a great St-Up-For-Success SATURDAY! ♥hugs♥

Set up for Success Saturday....I love it! Thanks for starting us off today Gabrielle....I was awake at 5:15, then again at 6:10 but was NOT getting out of bed at that hour....rolled over and slept until 8:45 am....woke up to a beautiful "summery" day! Figured I'd spend some time here with all of you before heading out to football. On the way home will grocery shop then get the Squash Surprise started. Got a couple things that I want to get done this weekend....
Remember that "suitcase dump" I mentioned a while ago....well it got dumped and most of it is still in a pile on the bed. Today is the day to get all the clothes from all the vacations/trips put away as it is time to start breaking out the fall stuff....time for the tank tops and shorts to find their winter home in the dresser and closet! I also have some boxes and miscellaneous things on the couch in the living room that need to be broken down and out for recycling....being away for 4 of the last 5 weekends has been rough. We are home this weekend and next, then off to NE.....two weeks from today I will be waking up in the guest room at Hannah's getting ready for a fun day at the zoo according to the boys! According to them there is some special display for the weekend so Hannah had promised they could go...I don't mind, it's an awesome zoo! I have so much to do to get ready for the trip....presents to gather for birthdays and Christmas so I don't have to ship them.....not to mention the usual planning....we have never been in the fall so not sure how or what to pack so getting the bed cleared off and everything in it's rightful spot will make it easier when the time comes to pack my suitcase!
Back to Thursday when I last caught up to get back up to speed...
Lisa....sounds like you got all the right things to eat in your house so food will be OP! Getting to the "roast" time of year for me....to me that's a fall and winter meal! I am excited that Jason dug the potatoes last week and they are great....he only planted Yukon Golds....they are great versatile potato.
Oh....if you like traditional "baked potatoes" from the oven instead of the microwave version that I have done for YEARS just because they take so long in the oven...I never have an hour to wait for potatoes to bake! Well in the air fryer/my crisp lid I did one in about 1/2 the time....I LOVE the skin when they are done in the oven! I always eat the inside, then put a little bit of butter and S/P on the skin and eat it last.....YUMMY! I made one last night for myself with some leftover bacon, cheese, veggies, FF sour cream....it was HEAVEN! So easy and doesn't heat up the kitchen so you can enjoy a baked potato in the summer if you want one!
Lisa...glad you got to see some family....Kennedy is so cute and getting so big! YAY for PT work! Bummer no jeans but you'll figure out what to where....especially after the 1st day when you see what everyone else is wearing! Yes, cleaning up after cooking is a bummer but I love to cook and sometimes Jason will be my dishwasher so it's not so bad!
Shelly...sorry you missed your workout but you sound like me with all the things you need to get done before you head off on vacation. I'm sure you will be plenty busy on vacation but should have time to sneak in a walk or two! LOL...you boss sounds like he's PMSing....hopefully things will be back to normal and he won't be hovering soon!
Yes, Karen and I had a nice chat the other night....her only brother lives in SC and is NO HELP AT ALL...he is pretty much detached from anything involved with family so Karen is the only one to deal with aging parents. Her folks are sweet people, but they were always active and now that they are older, they can't do things like they used to and are very cranky about that.....trying to keep them active within their capabilities and keep them safe from their own stubborn will is tricky! They go from one extreme to the other...they overdo or they just sit....AND there are two of them! So tough to find the balance while still working FT and having 3 kids of her own that live close and grandkids they want to spend time with....she's run ragged!

Yesterday was a full day....it's September and it's always hectic! Todd came out and give me a project to get done before the end of the month...nothing too hard but will take a while to compile all the information in one spreadsheet. Thankfully he got the format started to the way he wanted it so I just need to do the data entry once I gather all the reports I need to pull the info from....once I get going it shouldn't take long and I'm in pretty good shape with the monthly reports. Next week I do have to cover for Sherry on Monday and Rita on Friday but that should be too bad.....when it's only one day, I don't stress if things don't get done! Sherry has the big "Groft Reunion" at her house tomorrow and just wanted Monday to recupe! Rita is heading to CT on Friday for 50th HS reunion! Thankfully the 2 customer visits this week are Wednesday and Thursday so I won't have to deal with that!
Got an email from Jim yesterday with DM's address and new phone number....with the hour time difference I decided to call her as soon as I came home last night. Kris left yesterday late morning...her flight left San Antonio at 12:20 pm.....I wanted to make sure I called AFTER Kris was gone. Mom sounds WONDERFUL!! She loves the apartment and she says the people are so helpful and kind. Her aid would be coming in about a 1/2 hour to take her to the dining room for dinner. She said the food is FANTASTIC and even mentioned that not having to worry about meals and cooking for herself is such a "load off her mind"....I reminded her that she wasn't doing that and that was part of the reason she got so weak....she even commented that she has been feeling stronger lately with good nutrition! Will be nice to hear from Jim and Annie after they get her to the doctor and get a care plan in place to get her back to more active. This is such a relief for me....can't wait to get down to TX to see the place and to see her and how much improved she is! I told her we could not come down until after the new year because I have no vacation time left with our NE trip taking my last 6 days. Maybe early March when the weather is starting to break here and before the garden chores start for Jason!
Gabrielle....seems heat is returning everywhere across the country....when I got up this morning it was almost 70° already and we are to be in the mid to upper 80's all weekend into early next week! Glad Ed has a couple days of "down time" to rest. Yes, grape harvesting is NOT a fast process....we only have a few vines but it's not something you can just chop at...you need to peek under every leaf to find the bunches.... Glad Friday traffic to Sacramento is light....makes a ride much nicer. Hope the Airborne keeps the germs at bay. My flu shot at work isn't until after our trip....want to check out some oil options to hopefully keep and plane germs from jumping on me! I already have my diffuser at Hannah's house as I sent the starter kit to her house to keep for our visits. I will just need to bring a few other oils/supplements to get through the week. The starter kit really does have a great assortment to oil and for a long time that is all I had. Who knows maybe Hannah might be interested in trying some things to ward off germs for her family??? Right now she's like I was years ago..."all voodoo" but I will say.....I was wrong but you do have to make the effort to use them....consistency is the key, but then again it's the same with medications, PT, exercise, nutrition....they only work if you are consistent with them as well!
Lisa...a pedi sounds perfect...my feet are in desperate need of a pedi but I'm waiting to take Hannah when we are in NE....an early birthday treat for her!
Carole...yes, we made it to Friday...it was a very long week for me and I think I'm finally feeling rested, somewhat relaxed and back in some sort of control! WOW...down 15.6# over the summer....how awesome is that! Who knows what the secret is....might be a combo of all the thing you mentioned. Just the fact that you are feeling more positive is the best part! Yes, it is amazing how your knees feel losing some weight...I know that when I originally lost 43# to get to goal I got to put off my 1st knee replacement by several years....remember every # your lose takes away 4# of pressure on your knees. That means your knees are celebrating 62# less pressure on them with each step just by the weight you have lost so far! WTG! Keep doing what you are and while more loses might be slow, they will come!
OK....it's 10:30 am so need to hit the road....takes about 15+ minutes to get to the school for football and not sure which field they are playing on this year....they were reseeding a couple of them last year so will just have to wander around until I see Sarah, Josh and the kids! Will finish catching up when I get back and fill in a few more details on DM and Kris's antics!

Hi all...back from the 2 games and grocery shopping and feeling crappy...it was so hot out there I was feeling lightheaded and dizzy....I even had a seltzer, bought 2 waters from the concession stand and still feel like I needed more water....even getting into the AC at the store didn’t help. Came home, unloaded groceries and now sitting in front of the fan with even more water....was going to make the Squash Surprise today but nope...we will just eat leftovers from the last of the rotisserie chicken I got early in the week!
OK...figure I’ll start with a quick rundown of my mom’s move to TX....as I mentioned, David gave mom the preview of her apartment and she was excited and looking forward to the move. She and Kris left NC on Tuesday afternoon and landed in San Antonio about 6:00pm....they got mom all settled in for the night and Kris opted to stay on her couch instead of staying at Jim’s and having a real bed but she “had to be close to mom in case she needed her”....Annie said it was her last ditch effort to hang onto some control even though she didn’t really have any. As you all know my sister needs to be the caretaker but apparently the staff would not let her really do anything due to liabilities so she wasn’t happy!
Anyway...when I talked to Annie she said that my DS had had my DM debit card for YEARS and was “skimming” more $$$ than any of us ever realized. Unfortunately she was very sneaky and shopped at places that DM would have shopped and if she took cash out there was always a reason.....mom needed to send birthday cards and put $$ in them but the fact is DM hasn’t sent $$$ to anyone for years so we all know it went right to her pocket but we can’t really prove anything because receipts are gone and comes down to a “he said/she said” kind of thing. Also Jim and Annie had helped Kris out off and on financially over the years when so was SO DESTITUTE and needed help....now that all of us have been chatting we are seeing that she has been doing just fine thanks to DM’s $$.
Had to laugh when Annie said the “Jim and Annie ATM is CLOSED”!! Kris has burned her last bridge. I know Pat has not been sending any $$ since dad died but remember, she stayed in PA LONG past the time she needed and Pat paid her rent and bills while she was in PA....they had that arrangement when Kris was there to help with Dad but after Dad was gone (4 days after Kris arrived in PA) Kris of course was “there for Pat in her time of loss”....thankfully Pat put a stop to that once she got herself together enough to see the manipulation.
Jim got the debit card from Kris and cut it in half in front of her....needless to say Kris is not happy with any of us at this point. Annie said that when they met with AllCare, the people that provide the assistance for the facility, Kris kept trying to paint mom as being very needy and a lot of care but thankfully Annie, Jim and DM all voice the desire for more independence and wanted a care plan to get her to the point where she was capable of independence and need minimal supervision/help! Again, Kris got shutdown and was not happy! She will have a doctor appointment next week or so and I think I mentioned Annie will suggest a PT consult to help get a plan for some strength and mobility training to help get her to optimal health/independence!
David, Katie & Kris will clean the last of the things in mom’s old apartment out this week. Kind of annoys me that Kris is going to pull the “I’m entitled after all I did for her” card when it comes to things left in the apartment... mom had promised some things to Hannah & Sarah but Kris claims DM promised them to her. I know that mom put a piece of tape with the name of who should get things when she can’t have them or when she’s gone...I helped her do many things when she was still on Cape Cod.....I’m sure Kris has ripped the tape off or sanded the name off the couple of wooden things.....she will take everything. While my girls are disappointed they really don’t care...they are things! Both girls are pi$$ed at Kris but so relieved that Nanie is finally getting the care she needs. I’m going to try and suggest a family road trip, like our Michigan one this year, heading south that maybe we could all see DM at one time.....who knows, it might be too far to pull it off???
While I’m pi$$ed at Kris too and annoyed that she will never truly be held accountable for all she has done over the years, at this point I can’t let that weigh on me...I need to let the need for “justice” go and focus on moving forward with a more positive, healthy life for DM....
Hard to catch up from the recliner on my iPad so will maybe try later....going to try and get a quick nap and maybe I will feel better soon....that sun really beat me up today.....not to mention I didn’t think sunscreen so I’m really a bit “toasted”!
