Good Morning Everyone!
I am finally all caught up here - got away from me earlier this week when I was running out of time each morning ~
Slept in today until 7:00~~ WOW ~~~ which felt great - especially since I feel a cold trying to come on but I keep taking anti-cold remedy tablets. Still hoping they keep working - DD23 Carly had the sniffles last week which may explain it going around here - or just the students who are ALL sick! OMG we have had so many sent home daily with stomach virus/flu like symptoms. DD21 Lindsey said 2 of her roommates had the flu last week with high fevers...
The weather has been HOT and SUNNY here and very humid. Feels more like August lol Not complaining...humidity 70s and the sun is very hot. So if Sue is getting this weather I can see how quickly draining being outside for a game could get - I have felt dehydrated too even with drinking tons of water -

Lindsey is home this weekend (hooray!!) - one of her good friends from HS had her formal wedding ceremony. She had married her high school sweetheart 2 years ago (he's Active in the Service) and she travels wherever he is based. He is almost finished with his 4 years of duty and this weekend they celebrated their formal Wedding - haven't seen Linds yet to see how it went but she did text to share it was like a HS Reunion!
We did get to spend time Friday evening and did some shopping and talking Saturday morning before she had to get ready for the wedding. Mostly focusing on her plans for an Internship next Spring and career choices in the field of Mental Health. Still not sure WHEN she wants to do Grad School but she is talking with lots of friends in the same situation. There are no local colleges here that offer the Masters degree I feel would benefit her best (Licensed Social Worker) but if she works in the field, has an apt with a good friend, and takes grad classes she might be able to live closer to Pittsburgh area.
Carly is still plugging away at her Vision program. This semester is Braille in Math. It's horrible for her as she is NOT good in simple math or the logic of math lol the Braille part is all about spacing the numerals but the calculations of expanded notation almost put her under the desk yesterday.
Today we are meeting my DSIL and Niece at the Elk's for BINGO - should be silly fun - starts at 1:00 with Cash prizes -
Yesterday I did some errands, got the groceries and will make DH goulash for his dinner tonight while the Girls and I will have rotisserie chicken.

Still battling patches of poison ivy - had my follow up Eye Specialist appt last Thursday - he was very relieved for me the swelling under my cornea decreased. Shingles did some scarring in that eye but since it's always been my poor vision eye he really can't tell how much it impacted the vision loss. Recommended the prednisone drops one more month with anti-virus pills. He again said I had a very severe case of Shingles and it re-occured very early on...not out of the woods yet...
Gabrielle - so good to hear DH has some down time with the harvest of the grapes. I'm intrigued with this process! Glad you had time for dinner with your friends as yes, your Washington DC trip is coming soon! Oh I hope you get to connect with Lise when you get there too!! She is so funny on FB!! Okay, what was your secret to healing from poison oak/sumac?? I'll take it!
DH's rash continues to spread so I'm not sure it was the detergent after all LOL I keep encouraging him to return to the doctor/UrgiCare to get another round of meds as he may not have had them long enough. He prefers to just complain...his choice.
Sue - that is quite a story about your DM and now that she is getting settled in her new home all of you are starting to connect the dots with how much DS 'stole' from her under the guise of 'helping her'. OMG! It's awful how Kris victimized your poor Mom. Maybe your relationship with your mother will change? I know, I know, not to where we find a healthy but at least better? lol One can hope...oh, good luck with the unpacking. Yes, you will feel more organized for NE trip after clearing everything from the last two trips.
Carole - WHOO HOO!!! Congrats on your great loss! Wow to being down 15#s and finally starting to feel it. I'm with you, sometimes it takes 7-8 weeks of plugging away at same loss plan before feeling the difference. Glad the water pills seem to help too - very glad Tracy is monitoring you as I know my poor DMIL did NOT have anyone to monitor her and they were detrimental to her health - horrible side effects and caused her strokes. A 3rd doctor caught it as they were a bad combo with her blood pressure meds and this helped. Glad your Dinner Party went well!!
Lisa - hoping you are enjoying this beautiful weekend!! Did you find some outfits to wear next week?
Shelly - I have been mapping your trip just to see how much driving you have to do to visit each son. Wow, that is a lot and I can see how determined you are to spend as much time as possible with actually being with family versus on the road. I'm sure once you have the luxury of TIME on your side it will be different when driving through those states. ENJOY!!!

Morning Christine and all to come....woke up about 7:30 and decided to just stay up...I was still a little sleepy but afraid I might end up wasting the morning away so I got up, got the ham going and got everything out and ready for the rest of the cooking. Plan to catch up here and then get moving. Since I was basically useless after the game yesterday....never really started to feel "normal" until it started to cool down.....it was so odd because sun doesn't usually make me feel that bad....going to make sure I have plenty of fluids today. Thankfully the game is at 4:00 pm today so the sun shouldn't really be as bad.
Shelly...glad you made it to your folks safe & sound! Enjoy your time together! You know when we were younger spending long hours in a car wasn't a big deal but the older we have gotten the less we like that....it's also hard on our bodies. Makes me sad though that the extra day on the road each way takes time away from our visiting. Where in NE are you going....Hannah is just outside Omaha on the eastern side of the state! Safe travels the rest of the way!
Gabrielle....seems many of us were slow getting up and moving yesterday! Thanks for starting us off! I'm sure you enjoyed your run yesterday whether alone or with the group....nice that you can all tailor your run to what you need for the day! LOL, cleaning out the fridge was NOT one of my chores yesterday...since that was done before we went to CT over Labor Day and then only being home 2 days before heading to NC and then another weekend away...our fridge is barren.... thankfully got it stocked up with some veggies and "good eats" yesterday and I'm back on the routine of cooking. Next weekend will just be the Ham/Bean Soup with the leftover ham from today....I picked up a couple ham hocks to help flavor the broth and all the Great Northern Beans I would need to make it. Then Sunday will be the rib eyes I got on sale at Sam's this week and put in the freezer for the week so as not to lose them. After that it's only 4 days until we are off to NE.
Carole....so, what is on your weekly meal plan...I wish I was as dedicated as Hannah when it comes to that....in a notebook (1 subject, like from school), every month she puts the dates down the side and writes what she plans to make or take out of the freezer as leftovers, etc...it sits on the counter right beside the fridge and her computer is right there so when she finds the recipe, she puts it on the list and adds any ingredients she might need to her shopping list....she has done that since she left home. I'm organized but she outshines me on that one. Part of my problem, especially from April to October is I'm never sure the veggies or produce I will need to use....in the winter I'm a lot more organized with what I might plan.....
Carole...I LOVE that you are looking at visiting with friends and food/drink differently now...no matter what has precipitated this "change of attitude" it's great! Don't think too much about whether this is the "new you"....think about the day ahead and eat as your body tells you. Make sure you are getting the good nutrition your body needs to function properly but if you aren't hungry for dessert....that's fine!
Glad Zoe slept in after her late night....my girls were always up at the same time regardless of what time they went to bed....that meant for some cranky girls sometimes! Love your plan to get the kitchen ready for the groceries you brought home yesterday....hopefully all went as planned so today you can focus on the prep and laundry. I still need to get my HB eggs done...I've missed them the last several weeks. They are so versatile for a snack, to add to salads for lunch....so many uses for them and so easy to prep in the IP. I will do that when I'm done here so it's done before Jason gets home from church....he hates the smell when I make them! LOL!

Good morning Christine....thanks for getting us started....I was going to start us off when I got up but decided to get the ham going instead so you "beat me to the punch"! LOL!
Christine...yay for sleeping in and feeling rested! Hopefully you can keep the symptoms at bay! With all the crud going around at work I have my wellness roller handy and so far I've avoided any of the germs. Thought I was going to get something early in the weekend when the sniffles started but broke out my "stromboli roller" with the oregano in it and in an hour or so, symptoms were gone and so far they haven't returned....I've been rolling on my feet each morning this week before I leave for work..."just in case"! Jason and I are fine so haven't used it this weekend. Seems early for all this stuff to be going around at schools already.....sounds like all the winter crud is coming out early! Lots of allergy issues around here though!
Glad Linds is home for the weekend. Her HS friend got a beautiful weekend to celebrate their wedding. I'm sure it was fun for her to catch up with old friends! Can't believe it's time for her to start with internships and focusing on a career...seems she just went off to college and now that time in her life is winding down. I'm sure all the pieces will fall into place for her!
Hope you have lots of BINGO winners at your table today! Extra cash is always a nice thing! Yes, definitely silly fun! Are both the girls coming along??? I'm sure Gary will enjoy his goulash dinner!
Can't believe you are still dealing with the poison ivy....GREAT news from the Eye specialist! I was hoping the Shingles would not cause any permanent damage to your eye but sounds like the damage was minimal based on your prior vision in that eye. This has surely been a long haul with the shingles.....still on meds and still NOT out of the woods....it's time my friend! Hopefully this last month of drops and pills will do the trick once and for all! Question...has Gary eaten anything different that could have caused the rash?? Glad it doesn't seem like it was the detergent after all! Men....easier to complain than to just head to Urgent Care and get what might be the help they need!
I am hoping for a better relationship with DM...yes, she will never change but taking Kris out the picture will take part of the tension and defending of Kris out of the equation. DM really did sound great when I talked to her. Talked to David last night and he too had chatted with DM to see what else she wanted/needed from the apartment in NC...David & Katie are meeting Kris there today to gather all the things DM wants and then figure out what will be done with the few things left. David will bring the last of the things to DM in December when they go to TX for Christmas with Katie's family. San Antonio is an hour from Austin so they will day trip down one day to see DM and bring the last of her stuff. None of it is stuff she MUST HAVE now....nothing that needs to be shipped to her!
While the stuff is simmering on the stove, I will get the unpacked stuff back to it's rightful place so when the laundry is done later today I will have no excuse to just "add to the mess"....I will actually put it away as I fold it! When it's all away, I just bring the laundry basket to the bedroom and fold and put away as I go...when it's the chaos it is now, I just keep letting it collect until it's overwhelming! Like it is right now!
Waves Lisa, Shelly, Jenny, Carole & Gabrielle....hope all are having a great day! Will pop in as I can....looking forward to enjoying this beautiful summery day!

Good morning ladies!
Yes, aiming to feel satisfied this Sunday--organized, on top of the laundry and housecleaning....yesterday was definitely a non-working day but I didn't get nearly enough done. Did get my long run in (and it felt amazingly good) and then nail appt, then made deviled eggs for a bday party we were going to and found out that it started an hour earlier than I had planned. Yikes! Wound up rushing to get ready and head out. Got home super late, but it was fun. I played Texas Hold'em for a while (no real money though) and had a good time. Today is my REAL getting-ready-for-the-week day. Hope to go to WW at 8:30 and shop from there.
Christine: Thanks for starting us off today and so glad that the eye specialist is relieved (and now you are too Wow, it does seem like you had a bad case! So how long do you have to wait before getting the vaccine? I know that people can get it to keep recurrences at bay. Uggh...poison oak/ivy: Well, when I first feel it coming on I do EVERYTHING IN MY POWER to avoid getting it wet. I keep it super dry so that it can facilitate drying it up. Sometimes, early on, I use Tecnu on it (a soapy-kind of lotion that helps with the itching). If it continues to progress, I just try to manage the itching. I often get it all over my forearms where the skin is kind of sensitive and it gets swollen--ughh. If it started popping up all over, I have to go to the doctor and get steroids. Last time I asked for something to help dry it and they referred me to a local pharmacy where they mix their own concoctions. I got this liquid that they give firefighters who get it and that stuff worded GREAT--dried it up, helped with the itching. That place has closed and I DREAD the next time I get it. Have to find a plan B. Yeah for Linds being home and what a fun wedding! Glad that you have some time today. I can't imagine doing Braille with math! Wow, so impressive! I never thought about having to understand the math....I guess I thought it was only "translating"....interesting! Hope that you have a good day today and have some downtime with the girls!

Sue: Wow, that is just crazy reading about what has been going on with Kris. Another thing that is really startling is how similar it is to how we had to deal with my DH's sister as his mom died and afterwards. She was shockingly like your Kris. I am just amazed how these things can happen...I am so glad that you have other family members to go through it with you. We had to have the sheriff evict DH's sister from his DM's house (we were paying for everything for her and charging her $1/month for rent) and she still took a bunch of DH's mom's stuff. Glad that it is in our past and that it will be soon for you. Yes, it is worth moving on! Being on the other side of it now, I am glad that we did. Just sad that DH's mom passed away before we got it all worked out. Wow, so glad that you took it easy last night--sounds like the heat really got to you! I'll bet that your day today is going to be similar to mine. Hannah is SO organized---what a great system she has! I told DH that I want him to plan meals with me and help get them started the nights I am running late with meetings. He is open to it --that is as organized as I get, LOL! Hey, will you be swimming again soon? Now that you might be more "settled" with your schedule, wondering about that. Have a good day and enjoy your 4:00 game!
Carole: Wow, I LOVED reading your post yesterday. 15.6# That is amazing! And I think that we all need that motivation of a drop on the scale to feel like we can be successful---I loved your strategies for the get together too---enjoy the company! I am in agreement with you-- I think that the best thing about the intermittent fasting is that I am more aware of when I am hungry. That is new for me. I think our journey is all about finding what works and it sounds like you are finding those things that work just for you! What is on the agenda for today? Going to your sisters to watch football maybe? How is Eden feeling (I was thinking that she had been sick?). Hope that you have a good day!

Shelly: So glad that you are on your way and enjoying family!!! So happy for you and I look forward to the photos of the grandkids
Hello to Lisa (getting ready for work tomorrow?), Jenny, and all who follow. Need to do a little cleaning of the fridge before the "BIG CLEAN" later today. Need to plan a few meals as well. I will try to check in a bit later!

Good morning all
I could only sleep till 6:30 this morning cause my back was hurting just laying in bed so I got up and got the coffee on and now I'm just waiting for everyone to wake up. Audrey had a pretty bad cold on Friday so she stayed at home and just rested and trying to get over it. It's raining today and I love it of course. Yesterday it was 74 and sunny which was nice. The leaves are slowly starting turn and fall is fast approaching here. Today I will focus on laundry and cleaning the bathrooms as well.
Carole yeah to being down on the scale!!!! I need to switch my mind over to saying NO to things I don't need but only want. Sounds like your dinner was great with friends the other night. It's going to start getting into the low 50's here this next week as fall starts. Are you taking regular water pills or special one's?
Sue oh my goodness, I just can't believe that Kris is that horrible to her own mother, taking her money!!!! She is such a manipulator!!!! What is she going to do now that everyone has shut her down? I'm with you now that DM is safe and away from her just let it go and let Kris go down on her own. I'm glad Pat could see what she was and shut her down as well.

Christine glad Linds is home for the weekend, yes the flu is starting all over I'm hearing. It's starting earlier this year I think. After Audrey get's rid of this cold she's going in for a flu shot. Glad to hear Karley is doing good. How's Gary doing? How's the office coming along?
Gabrielle glad Ed can take a break from harvest. Who does he sell his grapes to? Sounds like a lot of fun playing poker I love poker to play with chips and no money though, I'm not much of a gambler. It's to hard to earn that money just to loose it in a cassino. DH loves to gamble when we go to the beach. Glad you got in your long runs in. Did you go to WW yesterday. I did and it was on how many hours do you sit a day and to make a plan to get up and walk at certain times of the day, so that's my focus this week,
Lisa yeah to new job tomorrow and good luck. I hope you enjoyed your pedicure. I used to watch Young and the Restless a long time ago I loved it.
Shelly have a great vacation and if you do get close to Arizona go to Sadona it is just breath taking and beautiful. Enjoy your time with your family also.
OK need to run for now have a great day

Well...it's almost afternoon....11:52 am here right now! I will say, I am feeling VERY accomplished. Ham & Green Beans done and cooling before getting put into lunches and meals for the freezer or meals later this week. Extra ham all "picked" off the bone and in the fridge. Eggs finished, peeled and in the fridge. Squash Surprise done and cooling like the Ham & GB. Dishes all done so far except for the two pots that are cooling. Frozen pumpkin/squash thawing in the sink so it can be strained through cheese cloth and ready to make some muffins later today or maybe tomorrow/Tuesday night! ALL before noon!
Now I can see who else might have popped in this morning, eat a little lunch, put my feet up for a bit, do my nails and then tackle the clothes on the bed and laundry. We don't have to leave for soccer until about 3:40 pm so got 3 1/2 to get more done and hopefully when I get home after the game my day of chores will be done??? Feels good to be this productive....it's been a while!
Gabrielle....today is a new day so whatever didn't get done yesterday can be tackled today! Sounds like you had a fun evening at the birthday party! I love Deviled Eggs but no one else in my family does. It's always a treat when I get them at other parties or pot luck meals! WOW Gabrielle....didn't know you and Ed dealt with a "Kris" of your own...it truly is amazing. I'm so glad that we all did figure it out and now have a chance to get DM back to a better place with her health and well-being. At least Ed is open to helping you plan...when I ask Jason he says "I don't care, everything you make is great"! Sometimes I just need so input to get me out of the rut of all the things I fall back on....
Yes...I hope to be back in the pool soon. My bag is in the car and I will play it by ear day to day....with many things to do after work this week and then only 4 days next week before leaving for NE not sure if it will be before we leave....for today, I'm just focusing on getting back to making meals and having healthy food choices available.
Gabrielle/Carole....I'm not really consciously "fasting" but I have been trying to be more aware of when I'm hungry and when I'm just eating out of habit or boredom. I will say that my scale is also down 3# in the last week or so....I think now that all the chaos of vacations and our struggles with DM has settled down I'm not stress eating or mindless eating as much! Back to basics and I think I too will see the scale heading downward. I'm looking forward to NE and hopefully taking lots of walks and maybe getting in a routine of moving!
Jenny...hope Audrey is on the mend now! Sorry the back had you up early. I will say that laying in bed on a Tempurpedic mattress does NOT make me stiff or sore. Honestly, not sure how Kris will do now....but I just have to let go....as David always says you can't "adult for an adult"....they have to do it themselves!
Time to snag a little lunch and relax a bit before tackling the clothes! Enjoy this wonderful Sunday!

Good morning. Just stopped for a moment on our way out to NV. Made it to DS Tyler’s last night and headed out to go to DS Clayton today. Haven’t had time to read Yesterday or today’s post but wanted to touch base. I’m sure it will be spotty this week but will check in when I can.

Home from soccer...Colton's team won 1-0....the team they played was tough and scrappy. Will say, I'm NOT a soccer fan! To me it is so boring to watch but of course will be there to support Colton!
My last load of laundry will go in as soon as Jason finishes watering the beets....with a well, he doesn't like the outside hose going with the washer or dishwasher so as soon as he hollers in I will get that started.
All the pumpkin/squash is thawed so I've got it straining through cheese cloth to get the excess water out and make it good and thick puree like the can.....it's amazing how much water there is in it even if you bake it in the oven.....Will let it set overnight to make sure it has drained completely.
Got the Squash Surprise in a bowl and that pot soaking.....Jason will do the Ham & Green Beans when he comes in....not sure how he wants that put away....he said one big bowl for the squash so I did that when we got home!
Time to put my feet up and relax a bit....got a full hectic week ahead with it being the last week of the month!
Hi Shelly....glad you are getting from place to place without issue....enjoy time with Clayton & family!
See you all in the morning!
