โTheyโ say how we sleep affects our eating. How are you managing your sleeping? Do you think you get enough restful sleep? Does lack of sleep affect your eating?

I'm managing my sleeping pretty well considering I have to get up a number of times a night to use the bathroom. I sleep very well between visits. I have another problem in that one of my psych meds keeps me from sleeping during the day. I miss naps. Being tired affects my eating. I know when I worked if I was tired I ate throughout the day to give myself "energy." I don't seem to be doing that now though on my tired days.

I have nights I sleep well and other nights I can't get to sleep...no idea why it happens. It probably averages out over the long run.

I've always been a good sleeper, with the exceptions of when I was on Prednisone for UC and when my mom was first slipping into dementia. I relied on Ambien those times.
I average 7-1/2 to 8 hours a night. I have seen studies that say good sleep does help with weight control.

I dont feel rested when I wake up, like ever. I don't sleep as well now after my husband's heart attack. It's been a long haul in adjusting my 'sleep hygiene' as they call it. I now read in bed before going to sleep and I try to read until I'm really tired. But I do wake up a lot and I just never wake up and feel "damn I feel great!" I don't really think I ever did though. I was never a night owl, but now I stay up until midnight regularly and can easily stay up til 1 am on a weekend evening before I realize how late it is.

surfgirl, I mostly don't feel chipper in the morning. I have a morning routine that I do and after an hour or two I'm better. What can really get to me is if I wake up achy. In the winter I have to deal with that more. Sometimes in the morning I use a heated shoulder wrap to get the aches out of my upper back and shoulders.
