WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (thereforeacknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going.

The scale was good this morning 140.6 which is typical during the week. When we were on the boardwalk, I was debating whether to have an ice cream cone, a slice of pizza or an acai bowl (healthy but can be high calorie). I was glad I went with the pizza. It was satisfying and it didn't lend to urges for other things...Good experiment!!
Nancy, so glad the cheesecake is working well for you. It great when we have so many dessert options that fit into our plan!!
Jan, hope your day is going well!!
I forgot to mention - when we got home from AC, I went down to our big freezer to get a bag of frozen veggies only to find that everything was defrosted....We had to throw almost everything out (I saved some veggies by roasting them) - don't even want to think of the amount of $ that went into the garbage plus all the extra meals I had frozen....just so sad. We think the motor just went without warning. We decided since it's just the two of us we'll try and do without the extra freezer. I'll see how that goes....
Hope everyone's Thursday is going well!!

Lori - OMG that's awful. The prepared stuff would have upset me most. We seem to need that second freezer. Ours is small, half the normal size, I guess. I use it mainly for hard to stack stuff like frozen veggies, prepared foods, hot dog and hamburger rolls and such. I'm guessing you'll miss it. I think a slice of pizza is a good option under those circumstances. I actually had a slice today. I was waiting for an oil change - decided to walk while waiting - passed a pizza place and couldn't resist. It served as my lunch and is accounted for in today's stats. A friend from North Jersey wants to get together. I suggested our place. Haven't heard back yet.
