WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (thereforeacknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going.

C102D14, 23 points, 1199 calories + a donut staring at me in clubhouse kitchen before Canasta, 5 water, 5325 steps
Walked to clubhouse, table tennis, walked home the long way, short walk while waiting for oil change. It will be a slow step average this week since I have to lay low tomorrow after second cataract operation.

8 points 987 calories 17 APs
Dinner out after soccer, and I had exactly what I wanted, not what I thought was lowest in points/calories. Mexican is loaded with fat and calories no matter what you order. Our team is now 8-2-2.
Lori, oh no! about your freezer! We would lose so much if ours died. Someone gave us about half of the side of beef that he won. We currently have a large garage freezer, plus two refrigerator freezers. What a great choice the pizza was for you. One slice of cheese pizza really isnβt that bad; itβs when people have two or three and start adding on all the meats. And stuffed crust, what the heck is that?
Nancy, youβll be so glad to have both eyes taken care of!
Waving to Kathy and Louise.
The roofers are here already to finish up. It looks wonderful! A sub-contractor will be here next week to install the gutters. LOVE the green metal!

C40. D9. OP. Tracking. Got in a 4 mile walk yesterday. Had a really big breakfast today - 10 points for 2 pieces of homemade bread, dunked in french toast batter (egg, lowfat milk), with butter and fresh blackberries. I wanted to cook a nice breakfast for my boys since I am gone so much lately :-( It was yummy and I have the rest of the day planned.
Nancy - sending you good thoughts for the cataract procedure. Take care of yourself and lay low. You have help with DH all day?
Lori - I can't imagine losing my freezer. That is so disappointing.
Jan - so great that the roof is being finished! Our metal roof was a great idea! Though my inlaws didn't like that we used white metal (to lower the heat in the house in the summer) as they said it looked like a machine shed ;-) Glad you enjoyed your dinner after the game.
Have a great day all!
Kathy

TGIF!! Even though this was a short work week, I am so glad it's Friday!! Turns out the freezer is working - the culprit seems to be the thermostat. Somehow something must have hit it and it was turned all the way down. No idea when that happened, just sorry we didn't catch it sooner....at least I still have a freezer!
Nancy, nice that you were able to enjoy the donut and end it there!! NSV!
Jan, Another win - Awesome!!! When were at AC, all 4 meals are at a good mexican restaurant. We just don't have a good Mexican place near us so we enjoy it in AC, plus it's reasonable!! I really had to learn how to handle, otherwise I would be dealing with a weight gain every time. I don't drink so that saves me there...I pick 6 warm, homemade crispy tortillas and save at least 3 to go with my meal. My dinner choices are shrimp fajita (light on oil, no soft tortillas, 1/2 of everything) or I'll have 1/2 a chicken carbona dish or the salmon dish- I will eat all the salmon since I don't like to reheat and it's just too good to waste but then I'll go light on the rice and always chose black beans instead of refried beans. Breakfast that have a delicious California omelet with turkey sausage and I get the black beans instead of potatoes, multi grain toast (always bring 1/2 home). I have no idea what they cook with but this works well for me. Plus we get a lot of steps in and no snacking.....If it was just one meal, I probably wouldn't handle it as well....
Kathy, D9 - Awesome!! Great way to fit in a nice family breakfast!! Planning is key!!
Hi to Louise!!

Jan - Congrats on another win. What a season! Kudos too on keeping your points and calories down to allow for the Mexican meal. Also really happy that you love the roof. Things seem to be looking up all around which is good news indeed.
Kathy - The breakfast sounds yummy. I think it's a good idea for us to splurge a bit on occasion and plan around it for the rest of the day. It's always better when we don't feel deprived. Our aide will stay until I get home which shouldn't be too long beyond her regular hours.
Lori - Good news about the freezer. When my salmon piece is too big for us, I refrigerate the leftovers and then reheat it in the toaster oven. It comes out great, sometimes better than initially. I usually have it for lunch the next day. Actually I finished up the remaining tea biscuits right before sleep - six of them! This new habit has to stop.
