Good Morning Train Riders,
This morning it was 6º (feels like -7º) and going up to 31º with party cloudy skies and wind SW 10-20 mph.
All three girls went to school this morning, just three days this week and then they will be on Christmas break until January 5 for Hannah and Rachael but January 4 for Sarah. These three days are final exam days for Hannah and Rachael.
MJ says she feels a lot better but is achy when the Advil wears off and is still coughing a bit but in general feels a lot better. We have some Christmas packages to wrap while the girls are at school and I hope we can get that done today.
Another Japan memory: I don’t know what made me think of this Japanese holiday because it is in the spring. The holiday is Shichi-go-san which means seven-five-three and is a special day for girls seven and three years old and boys five years old. Their parents take them to visit a shrine and they are dressed in beautiful kimonos for the girls and black suit with short pants for the boys. I often wondered how they came up with those ages and why there were two for girls and only one for boys but I never found an answer for that. The kids always looked so cute all dressed up on that day, May 5 if I remember correctly. More tomorrow.

Good morning Doris, & ATF,
Yesterday in Dsis's town it was 64 in the morning. We went to breakfast with just a long sleeve sweater. It was beautiful. All the snow from the previous day disappeared. They got about 1". As I was driving back home I was watching the temperature in my car go down. By the time I got home before noon the gauge read 54 and it was drizzling. Sun was out by DSis. We are only 1 hr. & 15 mins. Away from each other. Then I went to see TJ and they had more snow than all of us. Roads were cleaned to the blacktop. Had a nice visit.
At Dsis 's house we finished up all our Christmas shopping and had a nice visit. Of course, cards & wine were involved.
Today laundry, start wrapping and at 2pm I'm going to watch the twins while DD takes their dog to the Vet for her checkup.
Have a great day everyone!

I love this green print!! Kind of Christmas y
Glad that the girls are doing well now and that MJ feels better. I was taking Advil for the body aches and headache. It works great! Didnt' have a cough or blowing nose just the body aches really bad yesterday. Tried to get packages wrapped and only got a few done. Too achy. I started on Saturday night and yesterday was really bad, Today it is better and am going to make one run and then come back home. Want to get a box of our locally made candy for my friend's package. Need to get it sent tomorrow. Will send it Priority. her's got here in one day. so I do have some packages on the floor under the tree. Not the same with the 4ft tree on an end table but it works.
The sun is shining and blue skies not a cloud in the sky. See little snow birds on at the finch sock. small wood pecker at the suet square also. I am not putting out regular feed as the squirrels did so much damage to my soffit and cost me a repair job. Have never been able to find a bird feeder or a way to keep those pesky little guys away. Believe me I have tried it all. They climbed from top of feeder to my porch roof and chewed on the soffit underneath until it had holes all through it. Some of my neighbors were shooting them. So many of them. they chew wires and everything else. My friend's car sits out and she had wires chewed under the hood of her car. Big bill for that too. so no regular bird feed.
Off to curl hair and get going so I can get back and maybe get package ready to mail before 5pm when it goes out.

Hello, Doris & Train Riders,
It was icy and some snow in the early hours but now it is 40 degrees and very grey outside.
Don't get the flu, Doris. I don't think it is here but people are coughing.
I remember that Japanese holiday and how cute the kids would look.
Not much planned for the day. Might go to my coloring group. Just a lazy Monday.
Stay well.

Hello!
Cold today, but should get warmer soon. I have beans in the crock pot for the family to share this evening and I will make cornbread to go with them. Then DD and family plue DGD3 will go home and DH and I will doze in our chairs while the tv is on.
I have no idea when DS will hear anything about test results. Sigh.... Thank you for your prayers.
DGD2 brought her new puppy over to visit yesterday, and he is a little love! And so well-behaved even DH was impressed by him.
Doris, I love to imagine all those little children dressed up for their special day. Are there services for them at the shrine, or do they just pay respects?
Prayers for everyone, today. Stay healthy!
Diane

Love hearing these stories about Japan and learn something new all the time.
Today I went to the Y and on walking outside the lady beside me remarked, "It's getting nice!" It was sunny in the 20's and windy. Still nice because it's not 0 or below.
Glad the girls got to go back to school. It would be hard to make up tests at home.
I worked at the Haiti job for awhile this morning. There are numbers to work with and I couldn't get them to jive. At least I have a backup and finally sent it to him. Now it's time to think about next Sunday. I'm thinking soup now.
