I'm glad to have found you! I'm not new to WW, but it has been a while since I was a member, and I'm not altogether wild about the new site. I'm particularly disappointed that they abolished the forums, and I don't find their "connect" substitute to be nearly as supportive and appealing.
I've been very slowly losing weight over the past two years, after having hit my highest weight ever. I was at 267 pounds, but more than that, I was at rock bottom as far as my health. I ended up in the hospital and was so ill and in pain, I honestly felt like I was dying. Turned out that I have rheumatoid disease that had been undiagnosed, and once I was started on proper meds, I was able to slowly work on regaining my health and on losing the weight. At this point, I'm down 50 pounds after those two years, and I decided I really need a kick in the butt to help me lose the next 50 or so. LOL I've been attending my local TOPS meetings, which hasn't really been all that great as far as diet goes, but I like the ladies in my group a lot, and I attend for the emotional support and friendship.
I have been tracking my food on MFP, and as of today, I've got a 572 day streak going there. I'm pleased about that. I plan to track there as well as on the WW site. I rejoined WW today, signed up for a one year Online+ membership, which supposedly gets me a free Fitbit Flex 2. I gather I will get an email with a coupon code for the Fitbit. I'm not sure how useful the fitbit will be for me at this stage, because I walk with difficulty, and most often I hobble slowly with a cane. But I hope to become more active, and I will be using my exercise bike at home, so even if I don't "get in my steps", I hope I'll boost my activity level.
I eat vegetarian meals about 75% to 85% of the time. Lots of beans and brown rice and vegetable curries. We love Mexican/Latin American/Indian/Thai dishes at my house. (Me, my hubby, and our adult son.) But we do eat chicken and turkey, and once in a while we eat beef and pork. I'm going to have to try to calculate points for all these things I cook, which is going to be a pain in the butt. Heh. I almost always just cook stuff, and we rarely eat out or get carry out stuff. I guess that is helpful in some ways, but it's more hassle when I want to enter my meal into a database.
I'm looking forward to getting to know you and chatting with you all! Thanks for creating this forum, it will be great to have a place to visit with other folk who are working on improving their health and losing weight with WW.
Oh, I'm Lene' (pronounced Lennay) and I'm 56 years old. I read, and knit, and laugh a lot, and I may be slow and unsteady on my feet, but I'm stubborn and keep at it.
