This thread is for anyone that has been away from healthy eating, had a gain and is recommitting. We accept all forms of healthy eating here, whatever that means to you. We touch base daily for accountability and to encourage one another. This is a judgment free zone.
We all struggle to get the weight off and keep it off. Sometimes this is a challenge, but we never give up and that is the key. Regardless of our situation or where we are in reaching our goal, we count on talking to each other every day and are blessed to have one another as friends.
Our motto is persistence, not perfection.

Good morning,
Susie, enjoy the fair! I ended up not working today - they pulled in a driver, so they don't have to pay 2 medics to be on. I might go to the Mountain Heritage Arts and Crafts Festival outside of Shepherdstown today. My YDD asked me if I wanted to go walk around with her. I hope your knee doesn't act up on you.. Andi, the cauliflower and veggie and tofu dish sounds wonderful! I'm enjoying this weather too. We never got rain yesterday, and we could use a little. I'm just enjoying the sun and cool nights, while we still have them. Lora, sorry you couldn't find the soap! At least you got lots of steps in. And hopefully, you really enjoyed that kraut and the game, later! Janet, I love Thai food. And I love Moscato! Interesting to learn about it being available in kosher form.
Well, just saying hi for now. I hope to get something productive done today, as well as wander around the festival for a bit. We'll see. I'm not going to put pressure on myself. I can really stress myself out over this stuff. I am going to try a new medication to help, but I haven't been able to get it yet. I am applying for a job that would give me significantly more money, and it would be a good fit for me. It would be working with the VA here locally, and is a government job, so I hope I get some consideration. I'm afraid they will look at me and think I'm too old! I'll give it a shot. Wish me luck. I'll bbl, but I am waving to all to follow. Have a wonderful day,
RobinMD

Good morning friends,
I'm not sure who mentioned it yesterday, but I did find the goats milk soap lady's business FB page and messaged her. She finally replied back and apparently she's had a couple of surgeries recently and is having a rough recovery so is not currently producing products. Sigh.
Anyway, not really sure what all is on the agenda for today. Right now we're just enjoying coffee and relaxing. DH is on the patio with his kindle, I'm inside hiding from the muggy humidity. Lol.
Susie - so glad you enjoyed the Retreat yesterday.
RobinMD - I actually don't care for kraut. But Mark was in fermented cabbage heaven. haha. I stuck to a couple of sausages with a nice stone ground mustard. Oh Girl! The VA job would be wonderful! I'll keep my fingers crossed and the good mojo flowing your direction!!

Hi ROs. Am getting here late today, have been running around quite a bit. Quick supermarket trip to pick up blueberries on sale and add them to the fruit salad I'm bringing tonight - it's got melon, mango, blueberries, fresh figs and strawberries in it so it is beautiful to behold. I my add some raspberries at the last minute. I bought little gifts for the kids - a wonderful book I enjoyed as a kid as did my kids, Mike Mulligan and The Steam Shovel for DGS and a cute baby doll for DGD. I'll leave here around 3. I also got to the gym, yay. Just had lunch, will shower and get ready shortly.
Robin, I have fingers and toes crossed for the new job. It sound perfect! And you are certainly not too old!
Susie, have fun at the fair. I know you'll get a lot of steps in and I hope your knees will be ok. Isn't there a huge amount of junk food at those fairs? I'd have such a hard time with that! Although I know I could pass on deep fried Oreos, or anything deep fried. And no work for me tomorrow due to Rosh Hashana. I will go to personal training though and have some work I have to do from home, but it's a whole lot different when you don't have to get up at the crack of dawn and hustle out of the house.
Lora, sounds like you might have a relaxing day ahead. Nice. I was the one who asked about the soap lady, sorry she isn't making any these days. I had this idea you could go over there and make it under her supervision. Ha. I know you're not looking for a job...
Have a great Sunday all. Happy New Year, Janet.

Andi - soap making is a lot of work. I'll just pray for her speedy recovery and check Amazon and ETSY in the mean time. Haha

I did get to the gym but I am not in the mood to work on my portfolio today. Maybe tommorow I will try to work on it at work some. I dont have my regular kids but not sure if I have to do extended care as of course we havent received the schedule. No foresight in this place! I told my director if I did have it to schedule me in the morning as I need to leave early to go to my sister's for dinner. My sister from Isreal just called to wish me a Happy New Year. They are in Scotland tho with one of their son's and his family. They are doing some kind of thing where they are helping there for I think a year. I dont remember exactly what they will do there tho. Susie, I hope you have a good time at the fair and that your knee wjll be okay during the time you are walking around. Robin, I also hope you have a nice day at with your daughter in that town you mentioned. ( forget name but something like Shepardsville? - sorry if I am off but didnt want to lose my post). Andi, Happy New Year as well! Have a great day!

Back from the fair...hot, hot, hot...it was 92 degrees walking around, but there was a slight breeze. I handled it better than DS and DGS!
RobinMD - a couple of the OTs and PTs that DH worked with in the past have switched to the VA lately...good luck!
Lora - I saw a couple of booths with the goat's milk soap today at the state fair and thought of you!
Andi - the fruit salad sounds wonderful...mmmm - figs too - yum. The only thing I got to eat at the fair was a smoked turkey leg... I figured that was the least offensive thing for me to eat. Since I try to stay away from gluten, most of the horrible things don't even tempt me....and the fact that I have been struggling with my weight and need to get a blood test ASAP (I keep putting it off) helped too.
Janet - how nice that your DS gets to be in Scotland for a year. Do you still have to go to work at all tomorrow, even if you do not have extended care? Oh, my knees did great today...since I knew I was going I took the anti-inflammatory last night AND this morning (like I am really supposed to for at least a month).
Off to read,,,tried to yesterday evening, but kept falling asleep.

Dinner was very nice. She had a much smaller crowd. My nephew and his girlfriend came also which I didnt know they were coming. I had had quite a bit of moscato tonite. The brisket was delicious. I found out that my nephew, his wife and kids will be there for 2 years which I didnt know. My sister and her husband wont be there for that long but went over there to help them get settled and stay for the holidays( Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur. Not sure when they are returning to Isreal but only a weeks to maybe a month at the least for now
