Snacking: Snacking is important to keep you from getting too hungry but becomes a problem if you snack when not hungry. Snacking can also be a problem if you don’t watch the portion sizes. It is suggested that you have a protein or fat as part of your snack to satisfy you. (Adapted from a My Fitness Pal article.)
How do you handle snacks?

I eat throughout the day, with meals, mini-meals, and snacks. I have oatmeal, milk, and fruit, nuts, and fruit as snacks. Since I eat throughout the day almost any food can be a snack. I don't eat commercial type snack foods

At times in the past I have factored into the afternoons a "treat" that when on exchanges was WW ice cream with a Nonfat chocolate sauce I made at home. When on points it was usually microwave or air popped popcorn. On CORE/SFT it was usually nonfat yogurt with a fruit or air-popped popcorn or something else that was on the list of okay things to eat. I don't snack as much now that I am counting calories...just eat and track and when calories are gone stop eating for the day.
Today I was thinking that I might consider going back to a points or Core/SFT program or even exchanges but need to see if I have ANY information left for any of those programs...

I am a total cheese rat, so that is my snack of choice. I weigh it out and shave off as thin slices as I can, then weight what's left. If I'm lucky I can keep it to an ounce.

I don't snack as a rule. I tend not to know (or care) about when to stop. When I have company I usually snack on low-fat cheese and fruit. When the Tired-Sleep-Avoidance-Boredom Demon descends I usually have wine with nuts, cheese, and semi-sweet chocolate morsels. Lately I've resorted to Nonni Minis. They come in packets of 3 cookies each so I can't kid myself about how many I've had. I like the Pistachio Cranberry ones because they're crunchy and just sweet enough to satisfy. cathygeha, I used to use MFP. I loved it but I couldn't shake the notion that I had to eat every calorie that I had left. Then by body realized that all calories are not created equal. Unfortunately, I treat my points the same way and at this point, it's not for free! I still use it when I need a reality check.

I am a cheesaholic, plain and simple. I will eat any cheese, any time, any where, no matter if I've just eaten. If you offer me a piece of real, full fat cheese I don't think I can actually refuse it. My favorite meal, which I look forward to allllllll year, is our Christmas Eve Swiss fondue, which is my idea of the best meal ever! Melt some stinky alpine cheeses and then dip fresh bread into it?! How can that be bad? Answer: It cant!
Anyway, snacking is what did me in with gaining weight in the first place. Or over-snacking. I like salty crunchy carby snacks and if you add some cheese into that I'm in heaven. But I know it's not going to help me get to goal and maintain so I've been experimenting with cheese. I've been eating LF Jaarlsberg for a long time now, 1PP per slice. But I just found some TJ's LF Harvarti that's pretty good, and today I tried TJs Alpine Cheese slices and I'm all in with that! So for 2PP it's worth it. But not for snacking. For snacking I try to combine a carb and a protein. Like a piece of LF cheese and grapes/fruit. Or some crackers with hummus, that sort of thing. Tammy ( Tammy ) used to talk about snacking by combining 'Anchors' (lean protein & healthy fat) and 'Fuel' (Healthy carbs like fruit & veggies). So I try to do that now to be more satisfied.
