Busy time of year but if I know my readers you have had a chance to sit with a book or tablet for a little bit. I am counting on you to let us know what good story you are reading. I am a bit under the weather but am better today so will venture out for some last minute things. One present that I have to get as I have to mail a package and it needs to go today.
I just finished HERE'S TO US by Elin Hilderbrand. I really enjoyed this book and was nice to have an interesting book to read while trying to forget I was having body aches!! A story of a crazy wild chef who dies and his 3 ex wives and the children all meet at the summer cottage to scatter his ashes. Since they are all so different it is an interesting read. Kept me interested to the end.
Now I am reading James Patterson WOMAN OF GOD. I got both of these books from the library since I wasn't sure about either of them and would just take back unread. Will let you know next week how this one goes.
Are you a fan of Patricia Cornwell? I am and CHAOS looks like a really good read. Dr Kay Scarbetta is on the case, a 26 yr old is killed while riding her bicycle and it appears she was struck by lightning, but Dr Scarbetta decides at the scene this is no accident. Kay's partner Pete Marino and also her husband Benton Wesley also on the case.
Will be back to see -
WHAT ARE YOU READING?

I have just finished "The Whole Town's Talking" by Fannie Flagg. Just a story about a small town in Mo. from its founding to today. Nothing scary and not just love story. very good
The next book I want to read is something by Harlan Coben, I liked his latest Home
That's it this week

I'm reading on my Kindle and find it easy to do when I'm on my bed with my legs elevated.
I read 3 books in the Merry Christmas Cozy Mystery Gift Set by Meredith Potts. These were 3 what I would call short stories rather than books because they were quick reads and all three were good.
Now I'm reading a new series, at least to me, by J. A. Whiting. I've read other books by this author and have enjoyed them all and this mystery series looks like it will be just as good as her other books. I finished book 1 titles The Killings and I'm now reading book 2 titled Red Julie. This one really holds my interest and when I start reading I don't want to put it down. These are the Olivia Miller Mystery books. This one has some creepy characters and so far a very nasty murder.

I am about halfway through THE DINNER by Herman Koch. The setting is Amsterdam. A seemingly loving couple, Claire and Paul, is meeting for dinner with the husband’s brother and his wife. The brother, Serge, is a very popular politician, while Paul is a retired teacher. Paul resents Serge, as well as his choice of restaurant, a very high-end one. There is a secret to be revealed that involves the two sons of the couples. I’m interested, but don’t know yet whether I would recommend it.
Today I am returning the CD of ALEXANDER HAMILTON by Ron Chernow. It was excellent. I found out so much I had forgotten plus much I never knew. This book is what stimulated the creation of the Broadway show.
I will be on the lookout for a couple of books to last through my stay with my daughter’s clan in southern CT over Christmas/Hanukkah, as well as something to listen to while driving.
Looking forward to seeing what the rest of you are reading.
Take care Connie. Thanks for the thread.

Good morning Connie, sorry you have not been feeling well and hope you feel better soon. It is a cold frosty morning here but the sun is shining.
I have just finished Heaven Sent Rain by Lauraine Snelling. Diane Taylor C. E. O. of her own company her business life and personal life are uncomplicated. One day a boy shows. a scruffy big dog by his side in front of her office building. The meeting changes her life. Not a page turner but still a good read.
I am now listening to an audio book on my Nook. Echoes by Danielle Steel It is a compelling story of love. war, acts of faith and acts of betrayal ... and 3 generations of women as they journey through the years of loss and survival. I still have to finish it but it is a good read so far.

Hi readers. Just started The Shadow of Your Smile by Mary Higgins Clark. Not liking it as much as some of hers. Seems like a lot of people and kind of confusing.
Have a good day. bettyj

Love seeing what everybody is reading! I am in the middle of Pharaoh by Wilbur Smith. it is part of his River God series about ancient Egypt. I believe it is the fourth book, and while each can stand alone, I recommend reading them in order...

hi Connie and all. Connie I'm so sorry to hear that you were sick and am glad you're feeling some better
I haven't been reading because I've been too busy. I might read some this evening.
Connie, I couldn't even finish the last Cornwell book. I can't remember the name of it but it was terrible and I just didn't want to bother wasting time reading it. I'm looking forward to hearing what you have to say about this new one.

Isn't it strange how sometimes a favorite author just misses with a book now and then, seems like a few of us are in that predictament right now.
I started the Patterson book and it may be a bit too deep for this busy time of year. Have decided to pick up something a bit lighter, not sure yet what that will be but stay tuned!!
