What’s the hardest thing you need to do when losing weight or maintaining your weight?

Recognizing my sabotaging thoughts and successfully dealing with them. I often don't want to do the mental work.

I'd say the same as you bbbearsmom, but add in a good dose of Delusional Thinking as in "...it's only a bite, lick, taste...it doesn't count...I'll compensate for the splurge in other ways..."

I hate exercise BUT it is not necessary to exercise for me to lose weight.
I think the hardest thing is probably to have my mind fully engaged and willingly working to do what is required to lose and/or maintain. My greatest successes have come when I:
* Keep a journal of all foods I eat * Weigh and measure food * Stay within calories/points/exchanges to lose/maintain
If I do those things HONESTLY...it works.
I I don't do those things...nothing works

cathygeha, & bbbearsmom, Delusional thinking:"Oh I know the menu so I'll be okay." , and not taking the time to write down and practice responses to my sabotaging thoughts in advance of the situation where I desperately need them.
