I'm IN.
It's "special" because the Kressling (DGS#1) is 14 today. How DID he get that old - and that TALL?!?!?
Time to sip some coffee... โโโ... and remember a tiny baby in his daddy's (Son#1's) arms...
๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ Have a healthy-eating day, all! ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐

Good morning. I'm IN. diva49, it seems the grandkids have grown up faster than my own children. My Mom always said the clock runs faster the older you get. I didn't understand that when I was younger but I agree with that now! No plans for the day. I finished my walk so I'm going to finish reading the book I started earlier this week. Waving hi to all!

Iโm in. Weโre home and first thing on my schedule today is grocery shopping for basics. Iโll also be doing laundry and getting my new phone completely set up. Back on the straight and narrow limiting refined sugar. Another blue day ahead.

I know that I must get back on some kind of healthier eating plan. These past months have been rough, in terms of that. Yesterday I went to a Mental Health wellness conference. It was very nice with lots of interesting workshops. One I chose was relating to stress eating. It was somewhat helpful, but the instructor didn't leave time for questions. There was a dance performance at the end and a speech that made me tear up.
We have major plumbing problems. We had a plumber come yesterday, but though he fixed the worst of the problem, the root problem remains. Specifically an issue literally related to tree roots. It was awful!

Cyndee I had that problem too with the tree roots in the pipes. The plumber had to install another clean out so he could actually reach his equipment to some roots that were in pipes thirty feet under the sidewalk. He gave them a trim so all roots were gone for the time being. Unfortunately once a year they clog up again because the roots grow back. He said eventually I'll need to replace the pipes. Not looking forward to that expense.

Happy birthday to the Kressling! 14 already! I am in, planned and tracked. Last night's planned indulgence was worth it.

Not looking forward to that expense. That makes me feel lucky that my city takes care of problems like that if they arenโt actually on my property. And the only tree on my property belongs to them anyway! My former podiatrist had a problem with his pipes needing replacement (possibly due to long-term root intrusion). He found a company that actually inserts a new PVC pipe inside the existing pipe which negated the need to dig up his property from the street to the house. Cost him $5K but he said it was worth it. When I had a problem, which was related to a collapse in the pipe under the foundation, the plumber ended up running the bill up to $5K; but it was one of those emergency โrooterโ companies, on a weekend, and they totally invent ways to hike up the bill. Once theyโve torn your sewage system apart on a weekend, there isnโt much you can do but bite your tounge and pay them to make the system whole again. CC: cyndee,

When I first had plumbing problems after buying my house I used the previous owners plumbing company. Big mistake. They charged $99 just to visit even if they did nothing and they once removed my toilet to snake the clog when it turns out the clog was nowhere near the toilet. I got a referral for another guy and he's been amazing. Doesn't charge me unless he actually does something and when a temp fix he did for another pipe didn't work he came back and fixed for no charge. He's been really wonderful.

Oh, the guy who got the job up to $5K removed both downstairs toilets and snaked the guest toilet; the snake came up out of the pipe in the main bathroom and was flailing around hitting walls and doing damage. He ultimately insisted that he HAD to install a clean-out, then insisted he had to use his robot camera (more $$$), then claimed that the foundation had collapsed the pipe and he had to dig under the house to install a new section of pipe. I do have a regular plumbing company I use; they charge a โtrip feeโ as does practically everbody around the valley. But I trust them. And if I ever have a problem, weekend or not, Iโm calling them. If it is a sewer problem, if I have to, Iโll check into a hotel and pamper myself until the plumber can come! $5K was a vacation trip to New York!

finreporter, zazzles, I had no idea how common the root problem was. For the time being, we're just taking certain precautions (which I won't go into). Everything seems to be breaking down for us. Even my Food Saver vacuum sealer is kaput, as of yesterday. That would seem like a small thing, but it was like the icing on the cake. I just hope we get a break. Luckily, we like our plumber and he is reasonably priced. It's a matter of getting a good deal because he's my brother's friend. My brother is an electrician. They do favors for one another.

I think I may know what you mean by taking precautions. We did the same and continue some of that behavior now to help avoid issues.
