Whether you are regular poster or a lurker, we encourage you to talk with us. We do talk about books, but also about our lives, and Weight Watchers. We are women who are spread around the country, and eventually you will learn you we are, and what books we like to read. Don't be intimidated, just pop in and tell us who you are, and what you are reading now. We will make you feel right at home.
This is a thread we had on the WW 50 Year old board, so even though most of us have moved beyond our 50's, I am keeping it here. Some prefer to post on Facebook, but for those who may also like to post on something that resembles our old format, I decided to start this. Although we were brought together by our love of books, and we love to share our ideas about books and authors, our friendship has grown, and we know a lot about each others lives. We are spread across the country, and that adds a bit of interest as well, learning about other people's way of life through the "book" they write on the thread.

Good morning. Shocking, but we will go 2 days in a row with SUN!!! The last 2 days were breezy, that will be gone today, but with the sun and temps of 60, maybe, just maybe there will be some drying out.
Gareth, I see I need to clear up my talking about the nu step, and going for 30 minutes. The nu step is a recumbent sort of bike, stationary of course. You go your own speed, which for me is pretty slow at this point. The nu step is basically for knee rehab. That is how I got started on it. It is very easy to pedal on there, and sit and gab. That is what my sister and I do. Thank you for your concern, after reading it over, it does sound like I am just blowing off my doctor's order. I would not do that...right now anyway, lol. Wow, it must really be chilly by you, to have all that needed warmth. We had our ceiling fan going yesterday, in the living room. A couple thing for the reason is, of course it being an upper, and we get that blazing afternoon sun. I am happy you had a laid back weekend. Ours was good too, altho I had to walk away from the Packer game at the end of the 3rd quarter...they were not listening to my coaching, even tho I kept yelling my advice to the TV! They won inspite of ignoring me!!
Robin, great pic! Altho I can tell the difference between this one and the other one you had up. I hate how this board makes it so hard to post pictures. I tried also, but had to go thru that photo service, and was mad at myself for spending the $4.99 to do it, so I canceled it. If you ask someone on here how to do it, they make it sound easy, but it does not work out for me. That is how church was for me when I was a kid, it seemed to go on forever. Of course, tho, a lot did change in the Catholic church, as the mass used to be in Latin, and very formal. I still will not go back to that religion. If and when we find a church we feel comfortable at, it will be Lutheran.
As with the mention of views last week, I see this weekend's total views was 133. That is for the 2 days. It makes me happy to think we are so interesting that people are checking us out, but I wish they would stop in and say Hi. This is an open thread, welcome to anyone. I am guilty of not sticking with the subject of the thread, as a lot of the books I read, I feel would not be interesting to anyone else, so I don't mention them.
Am shocked I do not have anything scheduled today. Was supposed to take DB to radiation, but with my cold, my sister is taking him, as he should try to stay away from germs. Will go for a walk, as I did yesterday. Slowly getting in more activity.
Have a great day everyone.

Karen, thanks for explaining that Nu Step machine, I might have to see someone who has it around here, and see if it helps my knees. I need to make an appointment with my orthopedist. Sorry you have a cold, but definitely you should not be around your DB, but glad you have others to take him. Around here the Catholic church is very popular, and I don't think the masses are that long any more. The town next to mine, which is where we used to have our store, has the largest Catholic Parrish int he county, and we are a big county population-wise. I don't think we are friends on Facebook, but if you are friends with Marsha you can probably go through my page and see a few more pics I posted.
It is going to rain off and on for the next few day. I finished The Turn of the Key, which had some twists at the end. Maybe some of our views are from people looking for book ideas, but that's kind of a sideline for us these days. I am on 2 different Facebook groups where there are a lot of members, and people really only talk about books, mainly just to mention they read such and such a book, and that they liked it or didn't, but I get loads of great ideas from that page. They are now starting to have some local get togethers in different areas. I know that South Florida is having some kind of thing at Seasons 52, and the leader of one of the pages is from around here basically, and she is planning an author event for November 12th

Trying again. For some reason I keep losing my post. Twice now. I'll be typing away and poof it's gone. 46º so it was cool walking this morning. Just starting to get light when I headed out but by time I was coming home the sun was out. It'll be nice now until the end of the week when overnight lows will be close to the freezing mark and highs only in the 40's and 50's. I hate how it's getting light later in the morning and and dark earlier at night.
DH is still driving me crazy with his new phone. He went clear across town to the Verizon store yesterday afternoon to see if they could help but then he left because they were busy and he didn't want to wait...grrrr. I've tried everything I can think of to help him without any luck. I can't figure out why it cuts in and out playing his music.
Karen, I thought you were talking about an Elliptical so thanks for explaining about the Nu Step.
Robin, I almost got The Turn of the Key awhile back until I read the reviews. Gotta quit reading reviews! After your review I'll go ahead now and get it.
Gotta get this sent before I lose it again. Gotta get ready for work too....

Reading through the weekend…
Brrr the weather sure has changed. After sitting downstairs in a blanket for an hour or so on Saturday morning I turned on the furnace.
Karen – I did see that those condos in the Titletown District will be $600,000. I wonder if anyone would spend that kind of money to make them into a party house. I brought 2 Badger shirts home from Kohl’s and I’m deciding which to keep. One is a little nicer but the other is a long sleeve t-shirt type and looks better on and I think I’d get more wear out of it. They were not cheap, though, and I missed being able to shop at Shopko for this.
Gareth – my mother just started those Prolia shots.
Carol – If I recall correctly, the insurance coverage of the cost of that shot for my mother depended on where she got it. If she went to her regular prescribing doc they wouldn’t cover it but if she went to some other clinic they covered it.
Robin -you are not imagining things. When we were kids services did go on forever. Ours are now much shorter, done by 11:00 on Saturday. You can tell when we are falling behind because the Rabbi speeds up the stuff he reads/chants alone to the point where you can’t follow.
I went to the Y this morning - deep water conditioning class. I'm going to try to watch my eating this week but with the Yom Kippur fast coming that usually is a trigger to throw me off for those days. In other words the dinner before and the meal after are unrestrained. I was very unhappy when I was trying on shirts on Saturday. The love handles are seriously back. I was much happier 15 pounds lighter.
I started listening to the first Maisie Dobbs. Has anyone read those? I'm not sure I like it. there is way too much detail. Also started The Summer of 69 but I'm not getting far. Still in the part where they are doing character introductions.

Karen, LOL we haven’t seen the sun in two days! Hopefully by mid-day tomorrow! Good info on the NuStep. It actually sounds like something we all could use at our various stages of arthritis! lol. I often thought that if I were to change denomination I would attend Lutheran too.
Robin, what a nice picture! The navy blue is striking. After reading about how your offices are set up, I’ll bet it is difficult to find something similar. Sounds like the perfect setup. Are you still looking elsewhere?
Marsha, I’ve read about four in the Masie Dobbs series. I actually liked them, especially as in between books because they’re easy reads. I also liked the fact they’re set in England. And this coming from someone who doesn’t even start trilogies any more. Sorry about the love handles - a bummer for sure.
Gareth, wow $1,800! Did you end up paying this? Smiling about DH - isn’t that the way! My DH has little patience standing in lines too.

When I got up this morning the temp was 60! It is supposed to get up in the 70s and then warm up the rest of the week, but by Friday should get cooler. It is really nice. Of course, we don't think about turning on the heat this early. We try to wait until November unless it gets really cold. Most of the time Halloween is warm.
I read the first Maisie Dobbs book and didn't really care for it. It's been a few years so I really can't remember much about it. I just remember I didn't read more of the series. I'm reading A Single Thread by Tracy Chevalier. It's about an English woman between the world wars who moves and join a group of woman who embroiders items for a cathedral. I haven't got far in it so there is more to the story.
Gareth, what kind of trouble is your DH having with his phone? Has he tried calling Verizon or Apple? I know sometimes you are on hold for a really long time, but we have gotten good help from them. When I was trying to set up my Kindle, I would get to one step and it wouldn't work so we called customer service and they walked me through it. It wasn't anything I had or hadn't done. It had the wrong time set up. That was something that was done before it was shipped so was their fault. Anyway, it was an easy fix.
I'm thinking of fixing soup for dinner.

Gareth, I hope you enjoy the book, I liked it, but not as much as some. I know you like twists, so I think you will like the twists at the end.
Marsha, I agree, sometimes we know when they are speeding things up, and sometimes we time certain parts when we know our Cantor wants to entertain. We do have an excellent cantor, I never really think that much about it, except when I was at my cousin's son's bar mitzvah I really noticed the difference.
Anngie, thanks, I am going to see if there is any way I can get more pictures to post, That is the one annoying thing about this. And the avatar photo is tiny. We haven't had sun either, but at least it didn't rain.
