Whether you are regular poster or a lurker, we encourage you to talk with us. We do talk about books, but also about our lives, and Weight Watchers. We are women who are spread around the country, and eventually you will learn you we are, and what books we like to read. Don't be intimidated, just pop in and tell us who you are, and what you are reading now. We will make you feel right at home.
This is a thread we had on the WW 50 Year old board, so even though most of us have moved beyond our 50's, I am keeping it here. Some prefer to post on Facebook, but for those who may also like to post on something that resembles our old format, I decided to start this. Although we were brought together by our love of books, and we love to share our ideas about books and authors, our friendship has grown, and we know a lot about each others lives. We are spread across the country, and that adds a bit of interest as well, learning about other people's way of life through the "book" they write on the thread.

Good morning. Another beautiful fall day starting here, chilly at 43, but temps rising to 68. And, no rain!
Robin, you hit a nerve, when you mentioned that it is a good thing I have someone else to run my DB to his apts. As of this weekend, my DS will be gone to Texas for the winter, then sometime around the end of the month, my other DB will be gone to AZ. So it will just be me, and my DH. We really need to get DB out of his house, and it looks like it will all fall on me to do. Sorry you are now getting all the rain. It was so tiring, day after day!
Gareth, I really am not looking forward to this weekend, sounds really icky!!! About your DH and his phone driving you nuts...I go thru that with everything!!! It does get annoying, and after awhile I know when I will be getting the questions, and tell him right away, I have no idea, call some one who does know. I hope you have better luck today, posting on here.
Marsha, I know we would have turned on the furnace at the house, if we were still there, but here at the apartment it is still off, as we just don't need it yet. I too am missing Shopko for various things! I was so used to having the coupons, that would justify going there instead of Walmart. And yes, their sports clothing was a decent price. I am also missing going to the Y. I went Saturday, but with the way I was coughing, I know I should not be there yet. I sure am jealous of you, for being in Madison this weekend!!! Last weekend's game was such a blowout with that other team being such a nothing team, we quit watching it, but this weekend's game should be so good!!
Anngie yes, the Nu Step is excellent for knee issues. I am sure the larger gyms all have them, since knee issues are so common now, with all of us baby boomers. When we joined the church out by us, which was Lutheran, I was so happy by the changes, compared to the Catholic religion, I felt so comfortable there. It is just too bad that the drama with the Pastor had to ruin that. I too love the picture of Robin. She always looks so put together! How is your work with Hospice going? I wish you lived here, as I am sure eventually we will need Hospice for my DB.
Carol, I would love to wait till November to turn the heat on, which of course is normal for you. I remember last winter here, and it seemed I was always warm, so this way I can open a window when it gets warm up here in the afternoon. I went thru all my recipes yesterday morning, before going to the store, to see what I can plan for the week, and I saw my soup recipes, but since we had chicken booyah with the appetizers Saturday, I have to put soup aside for awhile. Plus the week is warm. Come this weekend, I will be making dinners that go in the oven, since it will be cold out.
We had our first spaghetti dinner using butternut squash noodles last night. While cooking down the noodles, I seasoned them with Italian seasoning. We were very happy with the result. I need to get back to eating better, as this fall so far has not been good.
DB got his radiation schedule yesterday. I guess it depends on if there is a Pathologist there...? I know nothing about radiation, so I don't know why they need a Pathologist present during that. Does anyone on here know? If there is none present then the dates have to be changed.
Lots of laundry to do today, as I have not done any for a couple days. I am truly enjoying not having anything on the schedule today. Tomorrow is DGS last football game of the season.
Not reading anything worth mentioning. Maybe tonight I will find something on Overdrive.
Have a nice day everyone.

Karen, so sorry it will all fall on you. I know you keep talking about moving DB out of his house, but that sounds like it could be a bigger job than just letting him stay there. Maybe use some of his money to get cleaning people in to help him out, or is it that he is too far away? Seeing as I know nothing about the area, I don't know how far he is from you.
Tonight starts Yom Kippur, which is the day we fast, so we are having dinner at 5 pm, the we go to temple for a service, which I know will last a lot longer than I want it to. Also, the woman who is now the president of the temple will give an address, and I cannot stand her voice! Her parents are members as well, and are extremely wealthy, and extremely charitable. So you can read between the lines.
Tonight my younger son will be with us, tomorrow my older son and DDIL, but they will go to her grandparents in the late afternoon because they do a break fast, we will stay closer to home and go to our friend's house.

Karen - I don't have ticket to the game this weekend so I will wander aimlessly around Madison for several hours. Actually I hope to go to the Chazen then maybe back to the union and see if I can find a seat to watch the game. I hope it doesn't rain because I will be on foot. I just hope dd doesn't drink a lot at the game as I don't want to deal with her drunk afterwards. My hotel is too far away to go back there and wait out the game, I suppose I could but it would be an uber back and forth.
Robin - Kol Nidre is always too long but they have to kill time between Mincha (the late afternoon service) and Maariv (the night service which can't start before sundown). The whole Yom Kippur service thing is just a very long day to me. DS is planning to meet me there in the morning so I will go whenever he says he'll be there. He's going to stay for a few hours. DH will come later, he always comes very late. Since it's just dh and I (I think ds will go home) I think we will do break the fast at the synagogue instead of preparing food at home. Are you having a crowd for break the fast?

Busy morning starting with my walk. It was cool but still nice enough. It's supposed to be even a little warmer than yesterday when it was such a beautiful Fall day. Big laundry again today. Bed is back together again. What needed ironed is ironed and everything folded and put away. I've listened to The Silent Patient all morning. Only 40 minutes left. I sure didn't see the twist coming. Love it when a book really takes me by surprise like that. Found out the problem with DH’s phone is a compatibility issue with the new iPhone 11 with DH’s hearing aid that Apple is working on. DH is content with waiting on it instead of exchanging his phone. He’ll just have to use his air pods instead of his hearing aid to listen to music. Everything else works. At least that problem is solved and I don’t have to deal with it anymore. Surprisingly that's about all the problems DH has had. What few questions he's had were simple for me to help him with.
Karen, what is chicken booyah? Guess I could google it. I've never heard of it but the way you talk it must be some sort of soup? Do you have a washer and dryer in your apartment?
Robin, I went on your FB page to see your wedding pictures but evidently they're not public. All I could see were a lot birthday greetings to you. I'd have loved to have seen your pictures. From what I can see in your avatar your dress was beautiful!
Anngie, no I don't have to pay for my Prolia shots. Insurance pays since I can't take the oral meds instead. Insurance pays since I'm unable to take the oral meds.

Gareth - Booyah is a chicken soup that is loaded with veggies and chicken. Karen can probably tell you better because I've never actually had it. It's a popular fundraiser here, particularly for churches. Glad you solved the problem with dh's phone, sort of.

Very beautiful day here. It was in the low 50s when I got up and now is 73 with clear blue skies. It is supposed to be warm until Friday. Saturday we will go to the Dallas Arboretum with DD and her family. It should be a great day for it.
Really not much going on here. I'm going to get a few of my long sleeved shirts out and washed.
I woke up with a slight headache, but it is much better now. I was able to go to my Bible study. I don't think it was a migraine, more to do with the change in the weather.
My mom had radiation treatments. She would go first thing in the mornings. I don't think she had any side effects. I think sometimes there is the possibility of burns.

I forgot to say my bone density test was good. The doctor called yesterday and I don't have to get on any meds. I am happy about that.

One of my coworkers had radiation for a neck cancer. He suffered fatigue from it and it affected his appetite.
The next Mitch Rapp came in on audio so I guess that's my excuse to stop reading Maisie Dobbs.

Hi Friends---Just wanted to quickly stop in and say Hi! It was such a beautiful day here yesterday that when we did get home from the insurance meeting at about 1:30 I hopped on the lawn mower and stayed on it until dark. I should spend another couple of hours on it today but with the wind it is not very interesting. Warm enough but terribly windy. Better enjoy the warmth I guess as Thursday and Fridays forecast is the "S" word and only in the 30's NO NO NO!!!!! This morning I took DMIL over for bloodwork, physical therapy and see the Dr. Have some office work to take care of so will try to CBL!
