Let's hope WORK IT WEDNESDAY goes better than Trackin' Tuesday! OY VEY! WHAT A DAY!!! 100 oz water â 5 F/V âïž No sugar âïž No flour âïž No wine âïž Journal â No eating after 7 âïž 5 out of 10 red dots :-(
No walk on break - heck - no break! I did get a short lunch... but MAN the "issues" that I dealt with - I was BEAT by the time I left for the day!
Today WILL be "better", Wednesday is always an "easier" day - so I can get caught up. Looks like there will not be much getting "ahead" before the end of the week - but being caught up will certainly help!
I already know that when I get back from vacation there will be a lot in my INBOX... so I am not stressing over that (yet)... but I also don't want a lot of month end stuff still hanging out there when I return from vacation! Because the week I return I only have a 4 day work week as well - since we leave for DC that FRIDAY! YAY!!! OMGosh, and then another 4 day work week, and we are at month end again! WWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OK No - can't go "there" yet! LOL
Anyway... today I WILL get a walk - unless it is raining... as I am dropping car off for service today and will walk the 9-11 minute up to work - and then back later to pick up the car! I also have salad ready to throw together, with chicken and some shredded cheese maybe? I will pull steak for dinner - with veggies... maybe a potato - depends on my mood I guess! LOL
OK Anyway - enough about me... let me refill my coffee and catch up â„

Gabrielle: Hope your TRACK Tuesday went well... so worried about you and the fires and no power! That would be very difficult! Do you have a generator?? I have to admit I too would be kinda grouchy about it too! Hope you don't have a lot in your fridge that will spoil! Will this affect your DM too??
Thank you - we feel "good" about the retirement decisions... like I said comfortable not wealthy! We somehow manage to take the trips we want to now - I don't see that changing much in the future... No - I have the week of the "holiday" then the Friday and Monday to travel to DC... MY week "off" is to fill the dumpster that is coming this Friday!! We still have a pile of junk from when we tore down the deck last year - and a bunch of oddball stuff to get out of the house in the next 2 weeks. I have one week, then Ken has the following week - but his week of "work" around here is shortened by us leaving Friday to head to DC... so he has to get HIS butt in gear for his Sunday - Thursday around here! LOL
Good luck with your signing up for the Chicago marathon! That's one I won't head out to meet up with you! LOL
Hope your travel was fun and you arrived without incident! Hopefully the tour of the school and the return trip are just as nice!
Lisa: What a doll! OH hopefully Greg's sore foot was short lived... but glad there was a Dr. appointment scheduled! What did he have to say? Well if things don't go well for us - we may wind up on Mass Health... who knows.... a lot of older folks are these days!
Sue: So glad the weather and your plans are all going so well! All this walking will be so good for you - in more ways than 1! Even though exercise is not "our thing" we don't mind doing it - it's the getting out there that's the problem! ENJOY!
Shelly: UGH! Sorry your day got sidetracked - and made you later getting out! Sounds like you got an additional work out though! LOL Handling the pumpkins can't be "easy"! Hey wakey - wakey... time to get up and think about your WO this morning ⌠RISE AND SHINE!
Good for you getting up and going - I am having trouble making myself do the darned stretches for PT!
Well here I am going to be 61 and our house is still not paid off... bad decisions over the years has us paying the mortgage until 2022! If we had never refinanced over the years the house would have been aid for by now... and the payments were less than $500.00 per month - way back when... but life happens... and for the most part - I wouldn't change a thing! We may not have had "easy years" but we have had good years! Honestly I cannot complain! So - having house paid off in your 50s is a good start to being able to save more for retirement! Gives you a boost for saving those last 10 - 15 years... thankfully the LAST refi we did - we shortened the term... so even with a higher monthly payment than I was "comfortable" with - we cut the term to 10 years... so it would be paid before we retire! I have also worked consistently the past 33 years... prior to that I worked sporadically around school and the kids - at this point "it is what it is"!
HA! No tracking or journaling here yesterday - the day just got away from me! I do believe you are much more conscious of your eating these days... and the WOs are just what you needed to get yourself back on track! The rest will either "come" or it won't... if you are feeling better - then why stress about tracking right now?? Keep up the WO habits and mindfully eating and the rest will fall into place for you {{{hugs}}} we can't "DO IT ALL" from day 1!

OK Need to get moving here - will throw lunch together before I head up to shower and get ready... still not a lot of stuff here for "snacks"... which I guess is OK, since I take snacks and don't eat them anyway?? I just feel out of sorts KNOWING there is not much here for me to wisely choose! LOL
Christine: Happy Anniversary... guess it was yesterday? Just saw the FB post this morning... hope you got out for a nice dinner with DH?? OR did you just stay and eat "in"... in peace and quiet??
â„hugsâ„

Good morning from Clovis, CA -
So the bus ride went okay, but I have to have a quiet conversation with our driver before we leave this morning--she was texting while driving--YIKES. And you could tell (I was sitting right behind her) as the bus would slow, then speed up, and do some compensating. I could call the company, but have decided to talk to her first - oh, I just LOVE being in charge of these things. Seems like the other people (except for my Deputy Supt) did not notice. I am sure that he will want to be there when I talk to her. Something to look forward to! So, it looks like the power is out to 800,000 customers this morning (including my house). Now they bring in drones, helicopters, etc. to fly over ALL of the power lines to be sure no trees are touching. Then (I guess) that it is a challenge to get it all turned back on--saying it could take 5 days. Wow, just WOW.
Carole: You are right to reflect on the fact that you have done an amazing job getting to where you are! You have worked hard and I am sure that your retirement will be wonderful...the decisions we make are based on everything we know at THAT moment in time and we have to trust that we did the best we could, right? It will be great to have the house paid off--and look how much it has supported you seeing your family on Sundays (and your granddaughters all of the time)...it has served you well! Hey, you can NOT let yourself dread those days ahead. Instead think about the days you get to do other things on your time off, right? We don't get Columbus Day here--is that the holiday you are speaking of? You can do it! Lise confirmed last night and sent me the address for our reservations on Friday night at 6:45 pm. Should I text that to you or email? If you want email, please email me your address: egmarchini@gmail.com is mine. Hope that you have a good day today!

Lisa: Oh, what a cute photo! Thanks for uploading...she is such a little GIRL now! So glad that you and DH could get there to celebrate. Hope that the ankle appt goes well today--does seem like the uneven surface might have an effect on it.
Sue: I saw the pictures of the walking path near Hannah's house--looks like a great place to take a walk! Loved seeing the photos of you and family. How great that the boys have student-led conferences. Some of our schools do that too and it is a lot more enjoyable for a parent (and the student I think). Hope that you have a good day!
Shelly: Oh yes, pumpkin time! Hey, that could be your second workout! Good job as you continue getting those workouts in my friend. I need to enlarge the little Hank picture---he is SO much older now! So glad that you could see him. We have not had a lot of fires (but still have weeks of high fire danger). The electric company has been sued many times for power lines setting off fires and therefore we now have shutdowns. I have to admit--I don't blame them. It is a HUGE inconvenience and everyone is mad, but I think that a lot of people would not hesitate suing the electric company if they thought it would bring them more money than insurance pays if their house burnt down. Sad, but it is what it is and (since I have never had to deal with it) I am not sure what I would do. A lot of people in our area can not even get fire insurance right now without paying a ton of money due to fires. We will see when our policy is up in December....hope that the boss finds other things to do today and you have a good day!
Hello to Christine, Jenny, and all who follow. Today will be busy--leaving here at 7:00 am and have school visits, debrief until 4:00 pm. Then the 4-hour drive home. Back at home, most have the day off due to power outages. Hope that it is all back on starting tomorrow... have a good day ladies!

Good morning! Just a quick hello and Happy Wednesday. Work then furnace check at 1 p.m. Seems early but with it getting more chilly at night, we will be ready. Also fingers crossed it all works well because furnace and AC are over 20 years old, so when one dies, we will upgrade both and maybe have ducts cleaned too. but hoping that's not this year.
Carole-Dr. said that Greg has arthritis to deal with now in that ankle, but shot last month helped. Sending him to PT to see if that helps stretch/strengthen things. Glad you feel good about retirement plan. There is probably no perfect plan anyway. We aren't rich but very thankful for what we have.
Gabrielle-I have been thinking about you watching the news about the CA power. I hope it doesn't last too long and you can cope. Umm-ya a bus driver texting while driving is NOT cool!
Christine-hope you had a great anniverary...do anything special?
Shelly-I bet you are seeing results from your workouts by now. People around here go nuts over the pumpkin season and pumpkin spice everything.
SUe-yes I am often in that spot of what can I eat that is healthy when there is no healthy food in the house...I hope you figured it out or take the best option. I am needing another cup of coffee this morning.
So that's where I am headed. I will continue the same project this morning as far as I know. May finish it up? I am not micro-managed or watched over, so I like that part of this job even if some the work is repetitive.
Off to get that coffee...have a great Hump Day (in the camel voice)!!!

Morning all...
The weather is changing here today...still chilly in the morning and near 70 by afternoon but itâs a bit gloomy today and the rains are coming. Tomorrow itâs supposed to rain most of the day and we will likely not be walking to and from school. Hannah usually drives them on raining or super cold/snowy days. They would be drenched by the time they got to school if they walked. Friday is supposed to be a high of only 43 degrees and we could wake up to the first âsnowâ of the season...just flurries but we could see some flakes when we get up! Boys have no school so the cold temps wonât make for a tough walk!
Shea will be home tomorrow night...I think his flight lands at 7:35 so Hannah will be there waiting for him and we will stay here with the boys! Looking forward to seeing him and getting more insight as to what the future holds. We did find out he will not be flying with us now...he is actually on an earlier flight that leaves Omaha at 8:00am....we donât leave until 12:30pm.
Today is Kaleâs birthday so he had his #8 pancake with sprinkles....a tradition Hannah started on their 1st birthday and the boys love it! Will be anxious to see how they like it at 16 but for now....itâs the highlight of their morning!
We already got our walk in for the day...a brisk one with the wind and gloomy skies but feels good to get out and get moving. Carole, I saw you mention how we donât âlike exerciseâ...you are right but I will say I do love to walk. I so wish we lived someplace like this that had a wonder trail/path to walk....where we live it is not safe or great for walking, especially with two TKRs....while my knees donât hurt, it is more pounding and stress on the joints and I donât want to have to do it again years from now. We do have the ârail trailâ that we can drive to and walk, it is similar to what is in Hannahâs neighborhood or we can head to the Y and walk the outside track....donât have to be a member for that....itâs free to public!
Soon we will head out to pick up Dominos Pizza to bring to school to have lunch with Kale for his birthday! He picked...we already had pizza on Sunday but that is what he wanted so heâs the âbirthday boyâ so he gets what he wants! LOL! After we leave school we have a few more birthday errands to run! After we get the boys at school today we are heading to the Dollar Store....one of the boys birthday gifts is $5 shopping spree at Dollar Store! They love that place and I wanted to be along to watch them shop! I have done it with Jackson and itâs a hoot! Never realized how long it takes to spend $5 but when you are a kid, you have to make the right choices! We will stop at a specialty cupcake store on the way home for Kaleâs cupcakes for dessert tonight. Their party is Saturday but both Hannah & Sarah always have a âmini celebrationâ on the day! It will be fun!
A few quick personals if I can remember right....I did just go back and read from Sunday forward.....
Gabrielle....glad your last long run went well and you had time with your coach. Bummer about the power outages but makes sense on the part of the power company to be proactive. How scary about the texting and driving...hopefully the âquiet talkâ was received well. Glad your boys are spending time together...warms my heart too! YAY for the nice dinner the other night! Hope Edâs foot heals quickly!
Carole...yup, Iâm with you....we will not be living âhigh on the hogâ in retirement either. We will have a mortgage likely into the first few years of retirement thanks to weddings, college, vehicles and needing to refinance to cover several of those expenses....we had a LOC that was going to be used for Hannahâs wedding but when the market took a dive in 2007....the $$$ in there was gone because the value of our house dropped considerably....then came credit card debt and other ways of paying for things. Thankfully that is behind us and we did continue to contribute to 401k and IRA even when we had no company match and the interest rates were so low.....we are in a good place! I would have been disappointed in the focus on people who make WAY more $$$ than the average person.....you are right, they should have known their audience more! Glad the girls enjoyed the movie!
Jenny....love Audreyâs independence....kind of a double edged sword though....love that the taxi days are over but then you still worry about them until home safe and sound. Iâd be upset with the parents of the party....itâs one thing to let your own child drink underage if thatâs what you feel is OK but NOT other peopleâs children....to me that is not something they should have even offered. Iâm not a stick in the mud but that is not something any parent should do for another personâs child.
Shelly....WTG keeping up with your workouts! WOW, you have one thing after another at work keeping you busy! I agree, the pumpkin lugging was an extra workout! Win/Win!! Sorry the boss is still hovering in and out! Hope you can start getting out at a decent hour soon and life settles down a bit for you....
Lisa...canât believe Kennedy is 3 already....such a cutie! Arthritis...sorry Greg will have to deal with that....I know itâs ugly as I have it in many places and am in chronic pain....I keep it at a point that itâs tolerable but I know I just need to keep moving! Will say your job sounds a bit boring and the process a little outdated but it is what it is I guess!
Christine...happy celebration week for you! Birthday & Anniversary all in the same week. Sorry the dinner was a bust! I wouldnât have been a happy camper either!
OK...thatâs about all I can remember for now....just about time to head out the door anyway! Have a great day all! Will pop in when I can!

Hey all.....I had intentions on being here a little earlier but between watching my Chicago shows and talking to DH itâs late now. Todayâs workout was good. I was running a little late but did a little core and then boxing. I enjoyed that. Made me tired but made it through. Work was decent. Had to call the cops and turn in someone for writing checks on a bogus account. Bad thing was it is a 2 party check. Anyway I hope they catch the person.
Carole you did pretty good on your goals. Hope you got your walk in today. Oh I would definitely be looking forward to days off. Yep hoping when house is paid off we can put money back but it will be whatever we can do and I wonât stress. We have been comfortable for the most part but struggle a little at times. It is what it is and everything will be fine!!! We donât expect to live a frivolous life when we retire just want to have things paid off before SS kicks in.
Gabrielle hope the power outages donât last to long. Yeah I can understand the power companies position and I donât blame them. Itâs a shame they have to do that but sometimes you just have to make those tuff decisions and ppl just have to make due.
Lisa I do feel stronger just no change in scales or clothes. It will happen sometime. Not stressing.
Sue fun times with the family!!! Glad you are getting time with them. How was the shopping trip? I bet they are enjoying their treasures. When do you head home?
Ok heading to bed before it gets any later. See all later
