Becky, I'm amazed that you have had to put on the heat already, given as HOT as it's been there for so long. We still have the AC kicking on, usually overnight because we have it turned down for more comfortable sleeping. I doubt that will happen tonight, however. The cold front--probably the one you got--is just getting here and the temp has dropped since we got up. So, HEB isn't living up to its new slogan? Hope that will change. We had such a huge variety of grocery stores when we lived in NW Austin, plus Whole Foods wasn't too far away.
Nice that the cleaning lady came on a weekend, Linda. Good that she is trying to work everyone in before she leaves town for a while. You should be able to stay out of her way and get some rest. How is Bob's eyesight since the 2nd surgery? Is this eye recovering more quickly than the first one did? How much longer do you have to put drops into the first eye? On the drugs, are you talking "Moscow Mitch" who never does anything unless it benefits himself, Trump, or Putin? There is some Russian oligarch who poured several million into building an aluminum plant in KY, so I guess that's Mitch's big re-election ticket and he won't have to do anything for the rest of the country because we don't elect him. Pathetic! I actually heard a Republican senator (don't remember which guy it was) who said it's their job, in accordance with the Constitution, to do nothing. I don't remember that from any copy of the constitution I ever read.
Liz, how's the tooth? Have you heard anything about approval for the telecommute? You would think it would be in your supervisor's best interest to get this expedited--or is he just delegating all your work to other people? What's on your agenda for the day?
What are you doing while Iggy works, Chele? Is your farmers' market still up and running? Our CSA installed high tunnels, so they are essentially gardening year round. Enjoy the festival tomorrow.
Kathy, thanks for the info on the Clemson-FSU game. Texas, Michigan, and Tennessee are all playing right now and it's also the day of the Ironman World Championship (triathlon) in Hawaii and there is a 2 hour special on NBC sports as well right now. So I'm channel surfing. I guess I need a quad screen to keep everything straight. How's your weather today? I'm interested to hear how DN's interview went.
Knees are still unhappy this morning. The steep hills are really doing a number, but I do enjoy being outside. I have another workshop at the GSMNP on Friday, so I'll do the entire length of the Gatlinburg Trail that day, which is softer underfoot and not so hilly. I know I'll be on the treadmill soon enough. Temp is dropping and I'm in long pants and long sleeved T for the first time in several months. Dale just called and is on his way home. He placed in his age group, so no telling what he'll be bringing home as a trophy. I told him we need to get a better way to display all his "hardware", especially after all the medals he collected at the senior olympics last week. For those of you with 6 or 8 qt electric pressure cookers and wanting an air fryer, but not wanting to pay for another appliance, I found out this morning that there is something called the Mealthy CrispLid tht "turns your pressure cooker into an air fryer". I'll do a bit more research, but I'm seriously thinking of adding it to my Christmas list and hoping it will be a Black Friday item for Amazon.

Karen, during the first episode of 9-1-1, Athenaās ex saw a photo of Athena and Bobby with the two kids and got a funny look on his face, but so far that storyline has gone nowhere. I thought it might be a harbinger of trouble. I hope your Astros do well. Simone did two new moves, one on the floor and a dismount from the uneven parallel bars, that they will name after her. They were so difficult. Sorry the knees are still unhappy. I know what you mean about being outdoors, though. I walk the sidewalks in the cold but not when it is icy or snowy. I have had too many tumbles. Are you thinking shelving or a glass fronted cabinet to display Daleās hardware? Could you pin the medals on something and get it framed? Did you have a nice chat with the Cincinnati ladies? How was the early morning rise?
Liz, I hate to hear about an achy tooth. Youāve had enough pain, but no sense putting it off. I did with mine and it just got worse. I bet the boss wants to make sure HR will sign off on you working from home. Any news from your niece on her hiking trip? I hope you are having a good weather day and get in your outdoor walks.
Becky, 56Ā° is chilly after all the 90Ā° weather. I hope you can enjoy it while it is here a d not get too cold. Was Scooter giddy with excitement over the cooler weather? Whatās on the agenda this weekend? We may go to a farm fest tomorrow or the sauerkraut festival. I think we are leaning toward sauerkraut. I hope you enjoy the new phone. I have the 7s and I like it. Iggy has the X with facial recognition and it is a lot different than mine.
Kathy, I hope you are enjoying your football today. Iggy is working now and is missing some of the games. The rain has moved out of here, too. It is sunny and 50Ā° and I am loving it. We went out this morning and some folks had on winter jackets and hats. Wimps! I did wear long pants and a lightweight jacket. Too bad you couldnāt see the launch. Can you believe how high the gymnasts get on their dismounts now? They must have springs in their legs.
Linda, I am sorry the head is pounding. I hope the vacuum cleaner noise doesnāt make it worse. Howās Bob doing now that both eyes are done? Any blurriness? How was dinner? I bet you and Bob would like our sauerkraut festival. It is in a smaller city that is known for its antiques and the festival.
Iggy and I went to the Farmerās market this morning a d were able to get carrots, sweet peppers, eggplant, tomatoes, and arugula. Karen, good deal on the CSA being able to keep you supplied this winter. We also went to Wild Birds Unlimited and I got a pole for two feeders-1 flat for larger birds and one rube for smaller birds. We got a bolster to wrap around the pole in the middle so the squirrels and chipmunks canāt climb it. We put our stuff away at home and then tried a āMediterraneanā place. It really is Middle Eastern but most Mediterranean sells better. The falafel was good. After lunch he took off for work for a couple of hours and here I am. Unless he gets stuck longer than anticipated, we will go to the āMediterraneanā deli this afternoon.
Have a great weekend.

Linda, hope you're feeling better. We haven't gotten cool enough yet for the AC to stop in the mornings. My power company just sent me info again about paying the same amount each month. They charge a fee on top of it each month for the privilege, so I'm not doing it. My bills don't vary that much anyway.
Karen, I was hoping FSU could at least make a game out of it, but no such luck. Have you ever been to a game at Clemson? It looks like a fun stadium. I'll be watching the UF-LSU game tonight, so hopefully that will go better. Hope you enjoy the Gatlinburg Trail. That should be a good one for the knees. It's still 80 here, so temps haven't dropped too much. I think this is the night we drop down to 68, woohoo. Congrats to Dale for placing. He must have quite the trophy and medal collection by now!
Chele, I abandoned the game since there was no hope for FSU. LOL on the wimps with the jackets. You'd be really amused at the outfits people here wear when it gets below 60. There seem to be two extremes-- the ones with parkas, hats, and gloves and the ones that wear t-shirts and flip flops no matter what. The dismounts are amazing and I have trouble imagining doing pretty much anything they do on the balance beam. I remember doing some very basic routines on it in PE class and it was hard. Hope you get lots of birds visiting the feeders. My tip is don't put them close enough to your roof for squirrels to jump. That was our mistake at DM's! There really wasn't anywhere else to put it though since trees would've been in the way. Nice haul from the market. Hope Iggy wasn't stuck too long at work.
Waving to Becky and Liz.

Chele, now that you mention it, I do remember that scene where Michael was looking at the photo of Athena and Bobby with the kids and wondering where that would play into future events. Those must have been some moves from Simone. We had to do some basic gymnastics in jr. high but I was never coordinated enough to be very good at them. Good not to walk on snowy/icy sidewalks in winter. You don't need to take chances. We don't have any sidewalks anywhere close, so that's not a temptation for me, which may be a good thing. I'm not sure how we could display all of Dale's hardware because some of the things he gets are medals, but others are plaques, paper weights, mugs, and other unique items. I didn't have more than a few minutes to talk to the Cincy ladies as they were on their way out and the driver said she didn't want to slow down my pace (nice to have a little breather before I headed up the 17%+ hill, however). Maybe I'll see them again next month. You did quite well with the farmers! Happy cooking, or will that be Iggy's job? You were really in a Mediterranean state of mind today, with the restaurant and then the deli, or did Iggy get stuck and it was too late to go to the deli? I guess "Mediterranean" is more politically correct than "Middle Eastern" right now. There is a good falafel place in Knoxville that I keep meaning to visit for some takeout. It's supposed to be really good. In addition to falafel, they have homemade hummus and baba ganoush. Oh, and baklava for dessert. Their falafel is supposed to be amazing, as is their hummus. Where is the sauerkraut festival? I hadn't heard about it. Has it been going on for a while? Have you gone before? Waiting for the Astros game to start. Nationals won their 2nd game this afternoon, so I know my GF is very happy. Next game is Monday and they have tickets.
Isn't snow in N AZ this time of year also pretty rare, Linda? Gatlinburg looks like a snow sky is over it this evening but even there it's way too warm for the white stuff. Congrats on the headache's demise. Good that Bob forgetting his eye patch didn't cause any problems. Glad you are reading a good book. Enjoy your easy prep dinner.
Kathy, I expected it to be a much closer game that it was. For a while, it didn't look FSU was going to score, so at least they got a couple of TDs. Did you see that SC beat GA? That was a shock. Should be a good game in Baton Rouge. Go, Tigers! I did a chunk of the Gatlinburg Trail the last time I was at Sugarlands but decided not to push it because I didn't know if I could do 4+ miles. Now that I know I can handle the mileage, it won't be a problem on Friday. Much easier on the knees than my neighborhood route. Either my knees need to start cooperating or I need to find a flatter route. We have those local folks around here that wear sleeveless and sandals year round. I am not one of them.

Thanks for the start Karen.
Linda I hope your headache is better.I have had a headache yesterday and today.I think it's due to the weather change.
Karen Since we just have a window AC I only turn it on when it's hot in here.Yesterday our high was 46 and with the wind it felt rather chilly.Today we got up to 60 but with it being cloudy both days it feels cooler.Tomorrow it's supposed to get in the upper 70's and then we go on a weather roller coaster for a week.I like to shop for meat, produce and dairy at HEB but lately they haven't been keeping things stocked as well.Around here it's still known as "My HEB." My knees have been hurting but the last couple of days I guess with the weather change they have really been unhappy.
Chele It hasn't been cold just chilly with the dreary days.Scooter has more energy but since it's been windy she has wanted to stay in the house.Yesterday when we went shopping she didn't want out so we left her in with the cats.So far I really like the XR.It has facial recognition but I use a passcode. It's easier for me.It's nice to get the updates earlier than with the Android phones. My Moto G6 had gotten where it wouldn't connect to wifi sometimes even in the house.I haven't had any problems with the XR.I would have gotten an older model but this was the oldest model Best Buy in Bastrop stocked.I got a good deal and I'm happy with it.
Linda 56 was our high for yesterday and today the high was 60.We will get more seasonable temps starting tomorrow.
Hi Kathy and Liz.

Becky, looks like you are in for rainy cool weather from the storm system in the Pacific coming up across Mexico. drought relief.
Snow up north here is rare, but Oct 3 years ago when Bob was at the canyon camping with 20 students and their teachers from Berlin, they woke to snow weighing down the tents and a hasty drive home. They close the access to the north rim in late fall until spring thaw.
Michaels carries deep glass covered display boxes to stand up or hang for medals and small items. My brother us going to do that with dad's WW2 medals.

Good afternoon chicks and happy Sunday,
Chele - very nice haul from the farmers yesterday. Did you get to both the Mediterranean restaurant and deli? How long did Iggy end up staying at work? I was sluggish yesterday morning but made up for it with my walking and driving to Marshall's for some bar soap we like and a couple seasonal candles. I apparently did more steps than I realized this past couple days; 6300+ Thurs., 4300+ Fri. and 4900+yesterday. Really good numbers but my body was definitely telling me to calm down .
Linda - happy that the headache subsided. Glad that Bob not putting the patch on didn't result in any issues. We were 67 for a high yesterday and should hit the mid 60s today. Bright sunshine and the leaves are turning. That weather in the north central with all that snow is really something. Nice that you enjoyed dunner out and had doggie bags to take home. Enjoy the book you found; sounds interesting especially from that era.
Kathy - I wish we could trade cable companies. I feel like Saturdays are just overloaded with college football games both in the afternoon and evening. I found an app called Word Escapes and I've resorted to playing that and reading due to the lack of anything worth watching on TV. Any news from DN on the interview? My niece got home yesterday from her trip and had a great time with only one bad weather day over the 2 weeks. They were far enough inland that they had no problems thank goodness.
Becky - that's quite a temperature drop for you; no wonder the knees are more cranky than usual. I've heard that the iPhone XR is the best and most reliable of the new models. I think Gary and I will upgrade from our older iPhones by the end of the year. How are Kenneth and the fur babies doing?
Karen - congrats to Dale once again on his athletic accomplishments. I have seen the boxes Linda mentioned that are in Michael's and they just might fit the bill for most of what you have accumulated. I have the primary doc tomorrow morning and then PT late afternoon. I spoke with one of my colleagues yesterday who recently left the medical center for another job. He filled me in on 2 more people who are leaving St. Crazy. My leave is cleared through 11/29 so you would hope they'd be happy to have me working agaig, even from home. Glad you will have an even trail to walk on Friday. I worry that you know you need to stop the uneven trails that are bothering your knees. Physical therapists tell you to stop any exercise or activity that cause actual pain and not just muscle stretching. (Concern rant done)
I am finished my icing so need to make a snack and figure out dinner. Wishing you all a peaceful and restful day. Ciao for now~

Becky 46 for the high is winter weather for you, and 60 isn't much better! Hope you had a Scooter blanket. So Scooter did ok inside while you were gone? Glad you like your new phone. I've always had Androids, so I know nothing about iPhones. I wonder if the weather is what's bothering my knees, too. I told Dale a little while ago that I'll just do the treadmill in the morning. I'll still wear my knee bands but I won't have the pavement and the steep hills to deal with. I wish I had a better place to go.
WOW! on the camping trip Bob took in 2016. Good thing he had some residual winter driving skills from his time in NY. Good idea to close the north rim, since a lot of visitors may not have those driving skills. I'll have to look at the hobby shops to see what kind of display boxes they have. The other question is where to put it. We are at a premium for wall space.
Liz, I hope Marshall's wasn't too crazy when you were there. Bar soap isn't as prevalent as it used to be, with all the liquids being the rage now. You've really been getting in those steps. No surprise you were feeling it yesterday. Saturdays are loaded with college football regardless of who your TV provider is. Good luck at your primary tomorrow, as well as PT. More exits from St. Crazy? What a surprise (NOT!). What would it take for you to get into a system closer to home? I don't think the unevenness of the ground bothers my knees as much as the steep hills. I had a few pains while out on Friday, but most of the pain happens after I get home, along with some stiffness that I know has to be OA. Thanks for the concern rant. Like I said to Becky, I just wish I had a better place to hike nearby.
I haven't seen any late football scores, Kathy. How did UF do? Anything on your agenda for the week? When do the invites for DM's party need to go out? Will that be up to you, since DS is still working? Are DS/DBIL still looking at retiring in the next couple of years? What did you hear from DN on the interview?
Chele, how was the festival? Hope Iggy got home at a decent time yesterday.
The thread is acting flakey and I just lost a long post. GRRRRRR....I've done a couple loads of laundry this morning and also made a large pot of applesauce in the Instant Pot. I watched some You Tube videos on the Mealthy CrispLid and we are thinking about getting one. It would be great for making crispy tofu or fries without oil, veggie burgers that aren't mushy like they are coming out of the microwave, and I could even make small batches of Tater Tots for Dale, instead of baking an entire bag and then the leftovers are mushy. I plan to keep an eye out on Amazon to see if it's a Today's Deal at some point in the near future. Much cheaper that buying an air fryer and it won't take up much cabinet space.

Just passing through. The Sauerkraut Festival was fun. Very crowded. It has been going on since 1970 and this is the first time we have gone and I have been here since 1975 and Iggy since 1977. Lots of weird food, like sauerkraut donuts and brownies along with more traditional like cabbage rolls.
Karen, it is in Waynesville which has been around since before Ohio became a state. It is about 23 miles or 40 min south of us going the back roads.
I am tired, so I will just wave hello for now.

Becky, that's quite a drop in temperature for you. We had a beautiful weekend, but it's still in the upper 80s in the afternoons. At least we finally broke below 70 for the lows.
Liz, I think the only football channel I'm missing is the ACC Network. I only really notice it since FSU is in the ACC and that's the main team I watch (even though it's been painful lately!). I'm glad your niece had a great time and decent weather. DN said he thought the interview went well and that he won't know anything until late November. He's also applying for a position at Kennedy Space Center, so between the three interviews, he should have a good chance. The second interview is with NASA at the Langley Research Center in VA. Hope everything gets approved for the telecommuting.
Karen, the Gators started out pretty well and the teams were going back and forth with touchdowns. The second half was almost all LSU though and it wound up 42-28. I'm rooting for LSU to knock off Alabama later this year. It would be funny if they wound up playing Clemson at some point given that they're both Tigers. I saw some clips of the SC/GA game and that was a surprise. The invites for DM's party were sent out a couple of weeks ago and I think we've heard back from almost everyone. DBIL is planning to cut back his hours starting next year and they are still planning to retire in a couple of years.
Chele, glad you had a good time at the festival. I can't quite imagine sauerkraut donuts and brownies!
Linda, how is the patient today?

Linda We are hoping for some drought relief but they are saying they think the chances of rain are too high from the models they use.I have been enjoying the cooler weather though.
Liz I really like the XR.I would probably still have my Iphone 6 except we were with Sprint at the time and they lease phones instead of contracts. If we didn't want to upgrade I had to turn in the phone which is what I did.I haven't owned one since then.Everyone is doing fine here.I hope you are feeling better every day.
Karen Yes it has been rather chilly especially with being cloudy and windy.Today has been more seasonable. It got up to 73.We will have a couple of days around 90 then hopefully get the front that's on track for Wednesday.I did have a Scooter blanket the first night but Kenneth let her out early this morning and she slept with him.
Waves to Kathy and Chele.
