Good morning from a happy girl with ELECTRICITY!
Yep, we were one of the last to have ours turned back on late yesterday....wow, what a long week! I got back from the trip (on the scary bus) to a dark house and days of schools closed, trying to contact department members, etc. Glad that it is the weekend now...and my last weekend at home for a while due to travel. It is SO smokey now....due to a fire a ways away. So, it was supposed to be SO windy that our electric company shut down the power to 800,000 people for multiple days and the Department of Forestry decided to start a "control" burn that quickly got out of control...can someone explain to me how this can happen??? SO incredibly crazy. Anyway, it was feeling like the end of the world--cold, no electricity and eerie light from the smoke in the sky....eek. Hoping for something to come in and help with the smoke.
Carole: Oh, I am sorry that the sleep study didn't come out as you had hoped! I know that feeling of "is there ONE more thing that someone is going to tell me is wrong with me??" and it can be so unsettling. I agree with what Sue and Christine said though and wonder if the sleep is the "root" of so many other things? I have heard that it can be....still sorry that it means more thinking about next steps for you. I LOVE the idea of having a dumpster. Have tried to convince DH of that several times...he wants me to "fill the bed of the truck" and he'll drive it to the dump. The trouble is, the truck doesn't make it here when I need it or he doesn't have time today, or......it will feel great to toss things! And glad that you have a good attitude if you need to "trade" some vacation days. You might appreciate it later. By the way, I would LOVE to see a cranberry bog!! DH and I were just talking about that the other day...on my list for retirement Have a good day, my friend!

Sue: Loving reading about your trip and fun times with the family--the Dollar Store capers were hilarious! What a great idea! Hope that you have a nice time seeing Shea, hearing about the plans, and being outside with the boys. I agree-getting home earlier will make for a much nicer transition....
Christine: Wow, mom to the rescue again! Glad that Linds could get that resume done and feel prepared for the "interviews", etc. What great practice! Hope that you have some "you" time this weekend to make up for your busy weeks....lots of great celebrations for you recently--birthday, anniversary---wonderful to see the celebrating continuing.
Lisa: So glad that you like your work! That makes such a difference. Hope that you have a nice weekend planned...have you scoped out a sporting event? You guys are good at that!
Shelly: Good job with the workouts--yes, you will notice. Do you find that you are not as tired? I was hoping for that for you...
Okay, gotta go ladies. After my run today I have to decide what to toss from the fridge after the power outage. The freezer was fine (we NEVER) opened it, but the fridge needs some attention. Let's make this Saturday SUPERB!

Good Morning Everyone ~ WOW! Today I slept and slept and slept - a cold rainy morning here and perfect for being lazy in bed! Loved it! Finally got out of my warm bed just for coffee DH actually made ! Banner start to the day! LOL (it's the little things, right?) DD23 is still here so I'm assuming she canceled any breakfast Kegs'n Eggs events planned. DD21 also has her Homecoming at school but first there was a must-see Concert in Pittsburgh for a band she follows, drive back afterwards then their Homecoming events begin. First year she does not have to 'wait on' alumni - the Sorority serves a champagne breakfast for alumni and their Seniors So Linds did NOT want to miss that! Ahhh, youth. Yesterday was exhausting - I have no idea why I was physically SO sore and achy and stiff, but got plenty of walking and stair climbing in - earned 9,000 steps before 4:00 which is double the usual for a desk job. Anyways, the morning Training was really good! Because I arranged for small groups of teachers to meet with the Math trainer she had them sit around the library (yes, we have a library now!) tables and chat about Math results and useful interventions. Excellent!!! The Teachers were like sponges! (of course one or two sat and answered emails) but overall a good morning. Then the afternoon Trainers arrived smack in the middle of Dismissal and waved me down as I was running Carpool - ugh, but they got it, and figured out to quickly to move to the Office and wait there. LOL As soon as carpool slowed down I ran over and escorted them to respective rooms I had set up and the Teachers arrived to a professional presentation on interpreting Reading results and useful and how to group their students for effective instruction. Well, apparently the group with older students grumbled and complained and told their Trainer I had never trained them in how to monitor their students and they wanted THAT taught not how to group students. Ummm...no, that was NOT on the agenda AND the new Dean of Students who advocated for my job responsibilities was supposed to train them but I know she never did HA! Not my circus there...can't wait to share that feedback with the Prince and yes, that Dean! Anyways, the session I sat in on was for Early Reading skills and I think the Teachers liked it. One mentioned we need MORE opportunities like I arranged - no problem BUT stop complaining when I do set it up!! No win there! LOL

Gabrielle - thank you for starting us off today. YES, make today a Superb Saturday. I have not a thing on the agenda. Nada. So that in itself is superb! lol I do need to sit and think through a plan to ease the aches and incorporate more stretching (Yoga?) to my days. I feel like life has gotten away from me these last few months with Shingles throwing me for a loop then the insane new school year starting up and working 7:00 - 6:00 each day and coming home to throw together a meal...and yes, the weight is just sitting there. Not gaining, but certainly not losing either. I hope today you can share that sort of day with just clean that fridge and organize your routines in order to make it smoother seeing how there will be plenty of travel and "off routine" the remainder of month. I can't believe the SMOKE and out of control fire in your area!! My DC Diane lives just outside LA and the Sandalwood fires - she posted in FB yesterday morning they were safe but I heard it grew out of control and I think she may have had to evacuate. Hope her home was safe.
Sue - did you get snow flurries? A good friend of mine lives in Colorado and posted pictures of their SNOW - he said the day before it was 78 degrees and now this! Don't envy him at all! Of course all the Erie folks were poking fun at him for moving to a snowy area but honestly, his winters are milder than ours! Probably due to the elevation - anyways, hoping NE didn't get hit - your Friday sounded so perfect! I love putt-putt and yes, having a Beer and Dinner is fun!! We have been into trying different beers from area breweries - Oktoberfest!
Carole - ahh, yes, Dumpster time. It will feel good to purge the house of building materials and 'junk' that we sometimes hang onto and then don't know what to do with - I'm feeling the need to gather a car load of Donations - Lindsey left a basket full of clothes she tried to sell back to Second Hand store but they only took 3 things - harumph - so we'll donate the rest. Enjoy your weekend!! Please tell us you are NOT going into work during your Vacation time...

Shelly - hoping things are going well - Pumpkins at the stores is a MUST! I smile each time I enter to see the different displays, hay stacked, Mums, etc - I enjoy Fall around here. And again, GOOD job with all your workouts!! I feel SO sluggish when I read your posts - need to get it moving here too! LOL
Lisa - how was your Friday? Hoping you plan to send sunshine back to us over here! We've been spoiled between an awesome Summer and sunny FALL it has been wonderful! Any plans for your weekend? Are you doing WW plan again, I could remember?
Jenny - I'm still surprised to hear about those Parents providing alcohol to the teens. BUT I know it was happening around here more times than I care to think of - Gary and I rarely had any beer or much wine in the house when both Girls were in HS - but we suspect a family who's house the kids always hung out at were turning a blind eye - just could never prove it - and our neighbor still buys for her underage daughter!! We do NOT think it's being 'Cool' to do it - in fact, Teachers/Educators can lose their PA Certificate for supplying alcohol to minors. In fact locally, a teacher (male) was in a social media picture drinking beers with high school kids - the kids thought it was SO cool their teacher was drinking with them - and BAM, the school encouraged him to retire early or be fired. Yep. Hoping you have a good weekend - any plans for yard work? Tomorrow I may venture outside and pick up sticks/ trim back some old plants.
Here's to a Superb Saturday!!!

Good morning - up a LOT during the night so slept in a little this morning - just thinking about the day ahead is making me feel lazy! The dumpster is here - and I need to get out and get the pile loaded... it is already 53 degrees so it won't be "hard" to be outside... now only IF the sun would come out too... The dumpster is here for the PILES of lumber and "crap" that we have from the last 2 summers of "projects", mostly the bad lumber form the old deck we tore down last year. I do have a few boxes inside that need to go in it - then I will make time to head to the basement - to throw out what I can... also the attic... and just the house in general! Yes we have a lot of STUFF that needs to JUST GO... now it's time - it feels a little overwhelming to think about doing it!
Meanwhile - I was thinking about going into work this morning - but just can't... what's there to do - will still be there when I go back... so I am not giving up my Saturday - especially if I may need to go in Tuesday/Wednesday... at this point everything is up in the air!
For today I need to just sit and catch up here - with another cup (or two) of coffee... then I can get things started... laundry is already started... and the tub is running to get it ready for draining and refilling...ahhhh, time for a refill on coffee be right back ♥

100 oz water ❌ 5 F/V ✔️ No sugar ❌ No flour ❌ No wine ❌ Journal ❌ No eating after 7 ✔️ 7 out of 10 red dots ❌
Not a "stellar" day but still being mindful of what's going on!
So back to Wednesday... I did in fact get my two 10ish minute walks, due to my car being serviced. I got "the call"... couldn't give me an inspection sticker - due to my tires... oh well, whattayagonnado? So we ordered tires Thursday - I will take it back this Wednesday to have them mounted and the inspection done! I want the good tires before we head out to DC!
My work day went awry - as usual... but - it is what it is!
Lisa: Hopefully your furnace check went well - always a "fingers crossed" kind of visit! LOL No - never will find a perfect plan - and my plan may work for us but not for someone else... can't keep comparing mine to others!
Yup - arthritis is not something that can be "fixed" - but we can live with it... apparently "exercise" is the key to making everything better!
Sue: Oh dear... Hopefully you did NOT see those snowflakes yet! Aw, bummer - not flying home with Shea! But YAY for NOT having to be on a 8:00 AM flight!! Will make for a tough day for Hannah and the boys - you all leaving on the same day {{{hugs}}}
Oh I too wish we had somewhere "safe" to walk... we do have the track at the fairgrounds - but at certain times there is a "tick warning" and bear sightings... not sure that's what I call truly "safe" to walk! LOL Another "plus" for the retirement community we are looking at in SC... not exactly a "track" - but less traveled paved road throughout the gated community!
Sounds like nice traditions for the birthday boys! ♥
Shelly: UGH Sorry you had to deal with bad checks... hopefully they catch him before he does too much damage! Yeah we still have our struggles, but make it work - like the new tires... we don't have savings for it - but will use the Hilton card - earn points, then get it paid off ASAP... it's our life! LOL Then I turn around and will have my yard guy here this week to talk about a fall cleanup! LOL Probably should NOT spend the money on him - but I do not have the time or the motivation to do it myself!

Sue - thanks for starting us off Thursday... UGH The amount of check fraud out there these days is what keeps me in a job! NOT a favorite part of my job - but submitting check adjustments and returns - for unauthorized - fraudulent checks was actually part of my rough week this week! I guess I need to start looking at it as "job security" since no one has been trained as my back up! God forbid!
Good plans for returning home... and being ready for the work week too! YAY for getting those walks in - I bet by the time you get home, you will be so used to it - you will hit the track at the Y more often!
Lisa: Well that seems kind of counter-productive... you working on files then someone else pulling them out??? Hope it all got figured out so no one is wasting their time!
Shelly: Hoping you are feeling better by now... I had my flu shot Thursday...
Sue: Glad Shea got home safe and sound ♥

Guess I'd better call it a day here for now... Tracy is outside getting things started and I am feeling guilty just sitting here chatting so long!
Zoë is a spitfire today! Trying to get her to go outside with Auntie, but for now she is happy in here!
Not sure how the day will go - but hope to get back here later on... feel out of the loop!
♥hugs♥

Happy weekend everyone Well today Audrey and I go homecoming dress shopping. They have their homecoming next weekend. It's also the first game on their new football field they just put in this past summer. It really looks great. I was there setting up for the auction yesterday that they are having tonight and saw the new field. It's finally about time they put in their own field, they always played at a local university field here in Salem but now they have their own field. Yes everybody I have discussed the alcohol situation with said that it's not right, no one should serve alcohol to minors that's just wrong. They need to wait till they can leagally drink it or wait till college. Well Siobhan and I got into it again and this time I just told her that maybe we need to just part our way's. She is so big into being so tough cause she went through a divorce and some other things, she said some pretty mean things to me so I just told her to have a nice life I'm finished with this friendship. I feel bad because I thought that I was being a good friend to her giving her a place to stay, inviting her to the beach and into life with my family, but evidently she thinks I'm stuck up and that she's intimidated by me. So that's it, I'm not putting up with her childish behavior anymore. OK need to get going, I'm going to my WW meeting then pay bills, icky , and then shopping with my girl, have a great weekend everyone. Jenny

Morning all....another chilly one here in Nebraska but it’s sunny and the winds have died down a bit. Got up and got to the Y for soccer and found out they had cancelled last minute...a bit frustrating that they cancelled 5 minutes before start time. Apparently this soccer program was NOT well run.
Had a fun visit with Steve and Ana last night...their new baby boy, Will, is adorable and such a good baby. He will be 2 months old next week.
Got a few minutes now to catchup a bit before we start prepping veggies and fruit for the trays for the party. Animals should arrive about 12:40....party starts at 12:45pm. Hannah and I got a lot done yesterday so it’s just the last minute stuff to do today.
YAY Gabrielle....glad the electricity is back on...I’m sure it is a long week w/o it...I can’t imagine what it is like to have the air so smokey even with the fire a good distance away. Not sure I understand why they would do a controlled burn when it’s so windy...seem counter productive to me but then again, I don’t know the first thing about forest fires. Glad the freezer stuff was OK during the outage....they stay it will hold for close to a week if you don’t open it but the fridge....could find a few “funky” things in there! I don’t envy you cleaning that out!! Where are you off to next weekend?? Your DC trip isn’t until the following weekend, right??
Christine...glad you got to sleep in a bit this morning...it was quiet here too until just before 8:00 when everyone started to get up and get ready to head to the soccer field. Sweet....Gary made coffee! Definitely a perfect morning! Bummer the rains ruined Carly’s breakfast events....LOL, I can’t blame Linds for not wanting to miss the champagne breakfast this year...she did her time to waiting on the alumni....her turn now to be waited on!
WOW...that’s a lot of step for you on a school day! Glad the morning trainings went well and the teachers were receptive to the info from the trainers. WOO HOO....you finally have a library! It is the little things, isn’t it! Too bad the new Dean fell short on what she was supposed to train the teachers on....you are exactly right...not your circus! You did your part and the responsibility falls on the Dean to do her part! Overall it sounds like the trainings were well received and the fact that the teachers would like more opportunities for things like that is a positive one!
Yes Christine...we did get a few flurries....nothing major and did not lay on the ground....only lasted a half hour or so....yesterday was bitter cold. It may have hit 40 degrees but it was cloudy the winds were 20mph which brought the “feels like” temp way down. This morning it was only 32 degrees when we went to the soccer field but the winds were calm and the sun is shining bright! Yes, Shea always said that at the AF Academy in Colorado Springs they had crazy weather....sometimes it would snow 6-12” one day and the next it would all melt because it was 75 degrees. My guess the elevation does have something to do with it!
Carole....must have been the night for getting up during the night...I got up more last night than the 3-4 nights prior combined. I slept OK but not great! Glad your temps are warming up fairly quickly and I’m sure once you get tossing stuff in the dumpster you will warm up too! Take the clean up slow....start with the outside and just keep moving place to place...don’t think of the whole project...just one pile at a time! Nope...I wouldn’t give up my Saturday if you might go in on Tuesday/Wednesday...you have plans for today and that dumpster is calling your name! But you still have time for another cup of coffee or two!
Glad you got the walks in with your car inspection...bummer have to get the tires in order to get the sticker. Last year when Jason had the Corolla inspected they told him they wouldn’t pass this year so he had tires put on before we left for Nebraska and he has an appointment for inspection when we get back! Good idea to get your tires done before your DC road trip!
Yes, Hannah is not looking forward to all of us leaving on the same day! Good thing this time is that Shea will be back Friday night. Not like the 2 months he was gone this time. After this trip he has nothing schedule for a couple weeks unless they put a trip on his schedule...since the October schedule was done a month ago before he finished his training he is not on but others say that ones you finish your IOE (the flight he’s flying this week is the last “training” flight) they will likely add a couple flights between now and his first November trip scheduled for 11/7. Hannah is looking forward to a few projects getting finished up!
I’d like to think I will keep up with my walking but I will say, there is something nice about getting up and doing it in the morning before my day starts....after my work day, I’m not as motivated. I do see daily walks in our retirement and that’s a good thing. Yes, bad checks are indeed “job security” for you! The retirement community sounds like a much nicer place to walk than where you live now....
Time got moving and finish up the party prep! Not sure what the rest of the day holds after the party....I know we are grilling salmon for dinner tonight....YUM!!!
Waves Jenny, Lisa and Shelly....hope all have a Superb Saturday!!!

Hmmmmmm.... checking in... waiting for Tracy to get back - she went out for pizza! yup - just feels like a good idea! I have almost 10k steps for today - have a good amount of the lumber pile moved to the dumpster... got the hot tub drained - cleaned and refilled... now waiting for chemicals and Heating... hoping to get in tonight - it will feel awesome after the day I've had! LOL
While I wait - I will see if I can catch up on Friday!
Christine - I still cannot believe your Linds is a SENIOR! WOW!! Glad you could help get the resume together... how did the job fair go?? HOpe DD Carly has a good weekend with homecoming and all... too bad for the rain - and oh yeah... hopefully YOU can stay below the radar on her "Cranky Sunday"!
Well, as far as thinking about the results - it has not been a good 2nd half of the week! Between that - and the work stuff, I am kind of a "mess" right now!! I am actually ON VACATION... fingers crossed Debbie doesn't have issues this week! Seriously though if she does - I can just postpone ,y time off - I will "get it" so I can deal either way!
SHE needs to consult with a surgeon - but she will probably push it off - as she can't handle the expense right now. She is the one whose DH is out of work these days after foot surgery... he says "it hurts" so he has not done MUCH since the surgery! He apparently thinks SHE is looking for attention! UGH!
Friday I did NOT get outside for any sunshine... just one of those days!
