Affirmation: Every cloud has a silver lining. Mind: Confident Body: Functional Fitness, Yoga, OP Spirit: Connected Gratitude: This planet
I worked on organizing, cleaning and decluttering. Also got the buckboard painted. The tractor and quad repairman came today so it's good to have gotten those items taken care of. Tomorrow I have another formula to test for getting rid of hard water spots off glass. The Dawn dish washing detergent and white vinegar worked great on two windows but I want to avoid using it in the shower since it will make the floor slippery and dangerous so I am going to try out a lemon/white vinegar/baking soda formula.
Cathy: Sometimes I just want to bust out and totally forget about Covid 19. However I am holding strong on following all of the "stay safe" rules to the best of my ability.

Affirmation: A slip is not a slide Mind: Focused Body: Eager to walk Spirit: Open Gratitude: Knowing that the indulgences of last night are in the past and today begins a new day.
Breakfast this morning was hot mixed fine grain cereal topped with cooked tomatoes and scrambled eggs with coffee. I have more hot cereal for six days and am thinking this is a good time to try eating CORE again. I have dabbled and even done a whole month at a time BUT really do like the premise of the program and not counting so...here's to seeing how the day goes. I plan to get in a minimum of 40 minutes of walking with my eye on 60. I know why I overindulged on cheesee last night and have that under control. I will read and review and it will be a good day. I also need to tackle the kitchen counters and sink and am seriously considering moving the baking supplies I am not using down to the basement. There is a studio apartment that has plenty of cupboards to store things in so...why not? I could then clear the counters and that would be marvelous!
MICHELLE: You decluttering has almost inspired me to tackle the preserves still sitting on the counter. Want to see clear counters again OR counters with only the items often used and not stored on it . Let me know how the cleaning of glass goes. We don't have Dawn here...something called Fairy Liquid but it is not VERY expensive as it is imported so last time I picked up a locally made dish soap and have yet to try it. I am NOT really going to go out and about but if I were to do so it would be to get on a plane and fly to the USA to see family. I know that my husband (82) and I (68) really need to stay home as much as possible as we do not have family that could help if we were ill and I really don't trust the medical doctors or nursing skills in hospitals.

Affirmation: Calmly and serenely I face the day. Mind: Habituated Body: Functional Fitness, Yoga, OP Spirit: Happy For Mind, Body and Spirit I have been posting my current state--not something that I am yearning for. Gratitude: My bird family
Today I continued to diligently work on my Spring Cleaning. I tried the Lemon juice formula and thought it was not nearly as good as the Dawn one but it did remove about 70% of the spots. Also washed most of my silk plants and now they look great again. Those were the major items I got done today. Such a cool day and the dog gang and I had fun dancing to some great 60s music!
Cathy: I think we should all live exactly like we want to. I figured out years ago that if I kept everything neat etc I did not have to waste hours looking for lost items and actually it's a lot easier to keep things picked up as I go rather than face a huge gigantic mess--this is the way I lived as a teenager and was over the moon happy when I started being able to pick up after myself and not live like that anymore. But my BFF is the exact opposite and is jealous of my neatness. As far as I am concerned her genuine love for all people overshadows my ability to dust!

Affirmation: I see beauty around me Mind: Open
Body: Tired
Spirit: Content
Gratitude: Basic Necessities in Abundance
Stayed up to finish a book, went to bed and it was WARM, had trouble getting to sleep, probably did not get enough sleep...it will be a long day.
MICHELLE: I love the idea of you and the three dogs dancing together to 60's music! I keep thinking that if my house was decluttered and tidy it would stay that way. It has done so in the basement BUT I don't go down there often. I need to find a spot for the "pantry" or to store the extra food we have brought in OR rearrange to keep the extras iin the kitchen but move out the extras of glasses, dishes, etc. I need to sleep well and catch up with reading before tackling that project, though! As for mess...one "clutter-site" is the cookbooks brought up from the basement then not taken back down...need to learn that I don't USE cookbooks and leave them in the basement! I tend to not have clutter so much as dust and such...I dislike cleaning and keep thinking a schedule and sticking with the schedule might work OR having a genie in a bottle OR little elves that come in at night to do the cleaning?

Affirmation: Slow and steady wins the race Mind: determined Body: Walking and Yoga, OP Spirit: Filled with delight Gratitude: My tire is fixed
I ran errands today which took many hours then came home and put it all away. However I needed 6 matching hardware items but only got 4 so I will need to go back tomorrow to get the other two and will finish up the rest of my list.
Cathy: I ran into a customer service person today who absolutely loves to clean! She explained some of her extraordinary routines. Such a nice lady who I enjoyed talking to. Life is hard for those poor employees who have to expose themselves to so many people each day. I really have compassion for them. Your ideas for organizing are interesting.

Affirmation: Believe -> See Mind: Open Body: Strong Spirit: Wise Gratitude: Electricity
Still warm here. Nothing new happening. Have the same agenda of reading and reviewing. Am behind in reading so might take a day off from the walking. Time will tell. We have leftovers for lunch unless my husband harvests from the field and it needs to be cooked.
MICHELLE: How interesting to talk to someone that enjoys cleaning. I am glad that cleaning staff are willing to do the work wherever they are. I have thought that it would be a whole lot more fun to clean if I did it with friends. We could go to one house then the next and do it all together. As for the needing six and coming home with four...if you are unsure then have two more exactly the same then perhaps take the four with you to return in case they don't and you find six of something else that do match.

DH and I worked on steam mopping the K today for several hours. What a job! However it looks incredible now and we will be able to keep it up from now on. Cooler, winterish day today but still nice enough to enjoy it. I am going to attend a zoom meeting tomorrow if I can figure it out. The topic will be about wild bird feeding, tips etc. The Wild bird Unlimited store in CA is hosting it and I am hoping to get some help with my quandries.
Cathy: I never lived without electricity. In my childhood we had little when I was young but as I grew older and became a teenager we had a financially normal life. Some oddities still linger from my young childhood particularly about keeping furniture. I wonder if you have oddities from some of your more harrowing life experiences. Without going into it--I will never have any type of sharp knife in my home. Just another oddity from earlier life experiences. Actually now that I think about them, they are popping up in my mind. We all have them and many of them are positive! Just chatting........

Affirmation: I am in control of what is important to me Mind: Focused Body: Moving Spirit: Open Gratitude: friends & family
Not much to say about yesterday. I skimmed a book on water magic, another on candle magic and wrote four reviews. Two reviews were for the skimmed books, one was for a Clean Eating dessert cookbook with "readily available" ingredients that I can't find HERE or if found are prohibitively expensive, and the final book was a 4th in series murder mystery. Today I am not sure what book is up but hope to plow through one or more.
MICHELLE: I hope you learn/hear the answers to your questions about feeding the birds. Just typing that I think of the song in Mary Poppins about feeding the birds I wonder if various birds require different feed and if the seasons impact what should be offered. Hooray for a clean kitchen floor - that is on my list for some time in the future! As for oddities from childhood. I no doubt have some quirks but am not sure what all of them are tied to. I am moving more toward a vegetarian diet but even before that the dietary rules from childhood made it difficult for me to eat many foods on the forbidden list, I prefer tomatoes with a sprinkle of sugar rather than a sprinkle of salt (dad did it that way), If I see a doll in an uncomfortable position I feel a need to make her comfy (had a doll I thought came alive at night so wanted her comfy), there might be more. From being married and living in war zones and places that electricity/water/etc might be cut: have plenty of candles and know where they are and where the matches are, keep extra foods in the pantry, store water (less sometimes than others), try to keep minimal first aid supplies (should look at those), have more than one way to make coffee and cook (electric, gas on top of the stove, wood in the barbecue or fireplace), keep important documents like my passport in a drawer where easily grabbed ~ There could be more...have to think about it

Cathy: I attended a zoom meeting today about bird feeding etc and they do in fact sugest a change in type of foods for the winter.

Affirmation: This, too, shall pass (pandemic) - there is nothing I am unable to handle
Mind: peaceful Body: moving Spirit: open Gratitude: ability to handle what life throws my way
Talked to son and granddaughters, walked, did the usual things. No real excitement and happy there wasn't.
MICHELLE: Some days errands take forever...not sure if it is the pandemic or something else but it can be draining. Interesting about winter bird feeding...I would imagine as different plants are available (or not available at all) the feeding would need to vary. Will you need to buy supplements to what you have now?

Affirmation: I am determined. Mind: Considering Body: Walking, Yoga, OP Spirit: The opposite of care worn Gratitude: My Pets
I spent the day doing all sorts of chores and topped it off with attending a Zoom meeting hosted by our CERT (Community Emergency Response Team). Clair has to go to physical therapy tomorrow. It will be nice to see my dear friend who works there.
Cathy: I needed to see your affirmation to be reminded that there is an end to the pandemic. Sometimes it seems like we have always lived this way. However, I kind of lived like this anyway so not much has changed. I really miss taking Clair on Therapy Dog visits--they were so much fun!

Affirmation: I am content Mind: Open Body: Resting Spirit: Ready Gratitude: Overcast days taht keep the heat away
Another late night. Pharmacies are on strike because their medicine supply is drying up and they want to know why. The drugs are being rationed and I have been told I can have one of the two boxes I need for hyptertension. That means trying MORE stores or seeing what can be done or...something. I have enough for more than a month but would like to keep it that way rather than run out. No idea what today's meals will be but am sure we will eat something We won't go out today since the pharmacy is closed but will go errand running in the next week.
MICHELLE: What kind of physical Therapy is Clair receiving? What did the CERT Zoom event have to share? My life has not changed much due to the pandemic except in not going out on Wednesdays and not going out just to go out. I spent most of my time at home doing this or that and still do the same.

Affirmation: Time is on my side. Mind: Confident Body: Functional Fitness, Yoga, OP Spirit: Placid Counting my Gratitude Stars: Another lovely fall day
Took Clair to her physical therapy for her right shoulder which seems healed but she had a little soreness last week so she limped a little. The basement stairs are now outlawed since going down them is very hard on dogs' shoulders.
Cathy: The CERT meeting was about weather predictions for 2021 which were that anything might happen--not too helpful. Also one gentlemen went over preparing for winter in our rural area. I did come up with a few items to add to my list but as near as I could tell I am more prepared than most who live out here. I agree about my life being basically the same except for taking my fun Therapy events out of my life similar to you losing your Wednesdays. I am still adapting to this change. Tonight I have another Zoom meeting about birds migrating. I sent an email to the expert, he got back to me with some answers and said that tonight's meeting will also have information. Apparently my 300+ Rock Doves that were displaced by the wildfires will not be migrating but the others might.

Affirmation: A good night of sleep is a blessing. Mind: Clear Body: Moving Spirit: Open Gratitude: A good night of sleep last night
Not sure if the pharmacies are still on strike as today there is a general workers strike. We won't be going out and about today. I am probably going to make a stir fry or soup from the leftovers. Hubby brought in a tiny cabbage to add to either one.
MICHELLE: How nice to know that your birds from the fire are probably going to stay and some of the others may migrate. I wonder if birds migrate if they have a safe place to stay and food to eat? I didn't know that stairs were hard on dog shoulders. My sister told me that she crossed a cattle guard thingy on the ground and her dog followed her only to have one foot go through and both were unhappy about it. My sister will NOT go over any in the future with Piper!

Affirmation: I've got this! Mind: Relaxed Body: Intense FF today, Yoga, OP Spirit: Caring Counting my Gratitude Stars: A lovely day--I keep being grateful for these after many weeks of not so great ones due to the wildfire smoke. However I just ignored it as much as possible. Sure is nice to have it mostly gone!
Today I cleaned up the bird feeding area and worked on my Embers Management Project on the right side of the house. Chopped/sawed down one large native vegetation bush, laddered five pine trees, raked up all the pine needles. Dug out the watering troughs on a number of the pine trees. Good day for me!
Cathy: According to the expert that discussed migration on Zoom last night, the birds will not stay if they normally migrate no matter how good the conditions are. Are the worker strikes effective? It seems like the pharmacies on strike might pose a serious problem for people.
