Whether you are regular poster or a lurker, we encourage you to talk with us. We do talk about books, but also about our lives, and Weight Watchers. We are women who are spread around the country, and eventually you will learn you we are, and what books we like to read. Don't be intimidated, just pop in and tell us who you are, and what you are reading now. We will make you feel right at home.
This is a thread we had on the WW 50 Year old board, so even though most of us have moved beyond our 50's, I am keeping it here. Some prefer to post on Facebook, but for those who may also like to post on something that resembles our old format, I decided to start this. Although we were brought together by our love of books, and we love to share our ideas about books and authors, our friendship has grown, and we know a lot about each others lives. We are spread across the country, and that adds a bit of interest as well, learning about other people's way of life through the "book" they write on the thread.

Good morning. Scattered showers expected here, with a high of 53, 37 right now.
Gareth, hope you look back to yesterday's thread. I am sorry about my not thinking statement about WW. And again, I am very sorry about your 2nd cousin.
Pinky, at least is is nice to know all that snow will be gone once the weekend is done. The flurry storm we had on Saturday was way too soon also, glad ours didn't stick. That meatball dinner sounds so good, that is amazing that they would do all that work to put it on. I know for a fact that the church we used to go to would have had to cancel that, as there would not be enough women to put that on, nobody wants to do all that work. Do they get a good turnout for it?
Marsha, how nice of your DD to tell you that! Great that you know she knows just how much you do for her. Was everyone in the apartment gone to the game, or did you have company, watching it? Where is the bus depot now? I remember where it used to be, years ago, but I don't know if they moved it or if it is still there, right off Main st. Are there a lot of riders on the bus?
Carol, goodness, time is going so fast, with your DGS actually walking up stairs. All of a sudden he will be in middle school, going out for the football team, lol...I speak from experience. I can not believe my first born grand child is in 7th grade, the first game we went to, I was afraid I would yell at the other player, whoever would tackle my baby boy, lol!!!
Robin, glad you stayed for the whole game, yeah, that is the thing with staying, then you are stuck in traffic. I see everywhere on the net people complaining about the ref's and the bad calls. Of course it kept on, with the Packer game last night, the Lions fans are furious over calls that favored the Pack. Something does have to be done about that. I know what you mean, about being alone, when you go somewhere. But I do like going certain places with DH, like out to eat. We enjoy seeing what each other is ordering, and what we think of that food. But when I had to go to that seminar for the floral dept, I had a blast.
Anngie, that is so nice, that you had the whole weekend as a nice one. Around here this year, that is rare. I used something, when my cold first started, can't remember the name of it, but it was for your immune system. I think it helped, as my cold was going away, but it has come back. Oh well, it is what it is. Your up coming weekend sounds like it will be such a beautiful wedding, being in Vermont, do you think the colors will be done, up there?
Will try to take a walk this morning, in between rain showers, then late this afternoon, around 5, I have to take DB for his first radiation treatment.
Have a good day everyone.

Karen, I saw about 3 plays from the Packers game last night, and one of them was when Rogers was sacked, but there was a holding penalty against the defense. But, I agree, they are calling absolutely ridiculous penalties. The Jets were called for 2 pass interference calls in the last drive that were just crazy. The player didn't even touch the other, how do you play the game if you are not going to put your hand at all on another player. I understand that they are making a big deal about injuries now, but they also don't see things that are blatant, like when one of the Cowboys grabbed a players face mask, and they didn't call it. Good thing the Jets won.
It was 46 this morning when I went out with the dog. I put on my gloves, because I hate my hands being cold, and I have Reynauds, so my fingers can get bad even in this weather. No wind at all though, so it is rather nice out. I am happy it is cooling off, we don't need heat, but also don't need AC. If it is sunny out our house can warm up, and it was just hot enough outside yesterday that it was a bit warm in here, for DH anyway.
Karen, as far as the restaurant thing goes, I don't seem to think about it as much when we are out ourselves, because we go where we want to go, but if I pick a restaurant with friends to go out to, I am look at what I want to order, and what I know DH will like, which I am often right about. Usually not what I want, he loves beet salad, which has been pretty popular here lately. He often orders the pork chop dish, and then will say that he doesn't think they brined it so it is too dry. I love to order fish when we go out, which he will not eat.
I have been reading The One Man by Andrew Gross. I really started to get into it, it is historical fiction, and something a man would probably like too. It's a WWII book. There were a few parts I skimmed, but not a big deal.

A cloudy gloomy start to the day with a high forecasted of 48---now they are saying we have chances of some drizzling weather off and on today---GGGRRRRRRR!!!! Even if there is no drizzle the cloudy day will not dry as well as if it was sunny, but as windy as it is it should help some. DH is getting very anxious.
Anngie---I forgot to answer on the Emergen-C yesterday. I have taken it and have a friend that does but myself I prefer Airbornne. If I remember right when I looked at the labels there is quite a bit more sugar in the Emergen-C and that was my deciding factor. I feel like I have great results with the Airbornne with either preventing illness when I feel like I am coming down with something or have been around sick people and I have not gotten sick. When I have gotten sick and take it I feel like my illness has been shortlived. With the Airbornne there is the choice of dissolving a tablet in water, a chewable tablet and also some gummies you can chew. I have tried all of them and like dissolving the tablet the best and this is what I have compared labels. I do like the gummies if I am just taking something because I have been around someone sick.
Karen---It is a lot of work for the people of the church but they all pitch in and it is a great fundraiser for them, they do not even set a price as it is a freewill donation. People come from all around for this---we have several friends that go to this Lutheran church and I should ask how many they serve, but I would say 250 - 300 people. Remember all of the communities around us are small so we know people from all of the surrounding towns so people just seem to congregate to events like this from all over.
Robin---Count me in as one who likes to know my DH will have something good to eat whether at home when I am gone or dining out. My DH is really easy to please with food as long as meat(any kind) beef, pork, seafood/fish and chicken is just ok to him is involved. Pasta not so much. It must just be a womans nature to make sure her man is fed well---LOL
I better get busy with something---DF and I may go see the movie Downton Abby tonight, will see what the day brings for both of us and then compare notes. Her DM is in the hospital so depends on somethings with that for her.
Waving to all!

Getting ready to go to the dentist-just a cleaning. It seems like every time I go, they find something-not a cavity, but old fillings needing to be replaced or a crack in a crown. I'm tired of spending the money on my teeth.
It is 75 degrees already. I think our spell of Fall is over for the time being. 80s and 90s the rest of the week, maybe a little cooler during the night, but not cold. I guess we can put off calling the HVAC guy for now.
Need to go. Maybe I'll be able to post more later on.

Funny talking about finding places where our dh's will find something to eat - in our family I am the problem because I keep kosher so I always check menus before we go anywhere. It's getting easier though with more vegetarian options available. Dh can find something anywhere.
Karen - I was alone in dd's apartment for the game. I told her to check and make sure it was ok with her roommates. One of her roommates had gone home and came back on Saturday during the game and I scared her as she was not expecting to find anyone there, but I stayed in dd's room since that was where we installed Uverse. The bus station is on University between Monroe and Webster, same as the metro busses. There were only about a dozen people on the bus on Friday and probably not much more than that coming home on Sunday. There is also a campus connect bus that leaves from UWGB, stops in Appleton, UW Oshkosh, and Madison. it's a little shorter trip because of fewer stops but it was a later bus. It only runs Fridays and Sundays during the school year. I saw a close up picture of one of those facemask calls last night and it was legit hands to the face. I'm not sure about the other.
We use Echinacea when trying to ward off a cold. I find that it works when you just start symptoms but once the cold is full blown it doesn't help me. DH takes if I get a cold.
